Removing water

I accidentally placed water in my base and I can't remove it by placing a block in it like I've seen being said. Does anyone know what else I could try?

Im super duper pretty sure you can pick it up with a bucket again.

Buckets do not remove water. I know because I have turned on that buckets can create new source blocks, thinking it is like Minecraft, just to find out I can spawn infinite water out of a single block.

it has to be a fully-solid block, like cobblestone or dirt, with no chiseling. If it's waterlogged a chiseled block, you'll need to break it, put a solid block in, and then replace it when the water's gone.
