Vratislav Posted May 13 Report Posted May 13 Maybe you have already found, but just in case, there is easy method to change direction of rapids or stop it: using full trapdoors working as sluices above a waterwheel. As the most primitive method, you may simply stop the water from flowing, replacing brake or clutch in early game by single trapdoor (and also sparing self of noise of the flowing water or of the waterwheel itself when not necessary, if you feel it annoying). If you want to be more fancy, you may make setup pretending that the rapids are filling a water reservoir above the waterwheel, or just go around the waterwheel by secondary trough. Mongster Posted July 1 Report Posted July 1 That's super cool that trapdoors can have this sort of functionality 1
Maelstrom Posted August 27 Report Posted August 27 That's real cool. There's an easier way to turn off the power. Install a transmission between the water wheel and where ever the power is transmitted to.

It can be combined as the sluice may work as a main power switch - I take as big advantage that it makes the workshop much quieter when the water is turned off. 2
PhotriusPyrelus Posted August 28 Report Posted August 28 That's cool, but... I don't really understand the point of the upper two trap doors. 1

Usually IRL, the waterwheel water source goes from some kind of pond to have enough water stored when the stream itself lacks water. This setup shall look like it as you cannot have rapid going through water body in VS. 1

SnapJelly Posted August 31 Report Posted August 31 That's such a cool build, an very clever too! But I must ask, is there actually a benefit to turning the waterwheel off in game currently? I know irl people would shut it off simply to let the water basin replenish properly but in VS the water spawns out of nothing so that doesn't apply
