MrSneape Posted August 11 Report Posted August 11 Playing my 2nd playthrough, 1st in the 1.22 update. I have my base all set up and everything. But i think i'd like to play with the rapid water and waterwheel automation. I have one stream like 300 blocks away from my base and when in creative copy of the world, i was trying out some stuff. If i'd build a waterwheel, it could easily reach those 300 blocks and build a helve hammer and pulverizer at home. But that's just insane ammount of materials. Second option is building some sort of forge there at the waterwheel, but is it worth walk 300 blocks if i wanna pulverize something or work on some blooms? And should i move the whole forge there, or just the automatic stuff and some bloomeries on the outside..? Third option would be wind power at home. It is a windy area, but one windmill wouldn't make it worth and i don't want to build some ugly giant mega windmills and my brain isn't good enough to create some working transmission design. I was able to create a working windmill for a quern that even looks pretty, right next to my field, but that doesn't need a whole lot of brain activity to construct. Sooo i'm open to any thoughts or ideas.

I'm assuming you're looking for suggestions on what to do in your game, and not making a suggestion for Vintage Story itself? 5 hours ago, MrSneape said: But i think i'd like to play with the rapid water and waterwheel automation. The easiest thing to do, if you really want to play with waterwheels but don't want to relocate your base or otherwise take a short walk every time you want to use the forge, is to simply pop into creative mode and spawn a rapids block somewhere closer to your base. Technically it is cheating, but singleplayer is like a Bob Ross painting--it's your world, and you get to decide what happens in it. If you really don't want to use creative, then I would probably just build windmills and skip the walk, and save the watermill for another playthrough. On the other hand, 300 blocks isn't that far, and the watermill is a consistent power source, so building a forge nearby and smithing plates and iron blooms in large batches as needed isn't too bad either. 2

I often have my windmills not at my base because I think they're ugly, I just walk to them. But that's a personal choice ofc 1
MrSneape Posted August 12 Author Report Posted August 12 Yeah i'll propably wait through the winter and in spring make a path to the rapid water and build like a little forge there, just for automated stuff and making iron in bulk. Also sorry for choosing the wrong topic. Was a bit braindead at that moment and should've chosen Questions instead.
