LtGerbal Posted August 15 Report Posted August 15 Architects, I call upon you. I used red shingle roofing for my houses, but I always end up with the weird inverse step pattern with the back of the blocks exposed on the inside. What tricks do you folks use to hide the shingles on the interior? Also, what tips do you have for making red shingle overhangs? Thanks!
Hanril Posted August 15 Report Posted August 15 (edited) I remember in my first 3-wide house placing a few log rafters under my thatch roof made it look pretty nice and gave it some room for less used wall storage. This or plaster/daub ceiling might work nice. If the house is wide and tall, maybe some plank floors for extra storage on the sides to hide the roof behind crates. Edited August 15 by Hanril
SnapJelly Posted August 15 Report Posted August 15 I usually make more humble houses so I don't often have very large rooms with very tall ceilings, but one of my favs to do if I have a sloped roof low enough to reach is to line baskets on the ceiling for extra storage without wasting floorspace
ifoz Posted August 16 Report Posted August 16 (edited) I just chisel blocks of the same texture as the underside of the roof to look like a slope - it does make the roof line a bit thick, but there currently isn't a much better way to make the underside of your roof sloped unless you decide to go all out and make a fully custom roof via chiselling and/or support beams. We know from the devs that a roof rework is planned at some point though, so hopefully whenever that comes out the problem of the blocky underside is resolved. Edited August 16 by ifoz 3
Professor Dragon Posted Thursday at 01:39 PM Report Posted Thursday at 01:39 PM As no-one has mentioned it, the simplest, most cheaty way is simply to put a ceiling in. There might be some roof mods also.
