Phillip Susi Posted October 10 Report Posted October 10 The handbook says something about them being useful for keeping animals in, but I don't see how that works. The wiki doesn't have anything to say other than that they exist.
MKMoose Posted October 10 Report Posted October 10 The layer of sticks has no unique practical function that I know of. It is possible to cover a hole with the sticks kind of like this, which allows to walk over it but doesn't block light: Cover an entire hole this way, and the animals inside won't get out but also won't despawn due to lack of access to sunlight. If this is not what the handbook is alluding to, then I don't know what. 1
Phillip Susi Posted October 10 Author Report Posted October 10 Wow that is weird. I thought it was a ground cover, like wood path. I thought animals need access to *artificial* light in order to not despawn?
Ratbatboo Posted October 11 Report Posted October 11 Layer of sticks is useful for: 1) allowing smoke to escape an otherwise sealed room 2) preventing rain from putting out a cookpot or torch beneath it 3) storing sticks in high density (64 layers of sticks in a stack is 576 sticks, far more than can be contained in a stack of sticks). 2 1
Sparticus247 Posted October 13 Report Posted October 13 I've used them as a see-through second floor on my early game huts that lets natural light in through the waddle windows above.
