How do I make rice ale or fine rice ale ? it's not at all clear and makes no sense in the handbook.

rice ale is a vanilla recipe that follows the same as all the other grain ales, here's what it says on the wiki about those, so hopefully it'll help you start!

  • grain-based ales ferment at a ratio of 5:1. 5L water and 5 flour produces 1L of ale, with a full barrel of 50L water and 50 flour producing 10L ale.

as far as making things into strong, fine, and vintage versions, all alcohol in this mod now takes time to cure into those and has to age in-game in your cellar. (or, out in the open if it wont spoil)

HI. I am a new'ish player and am playing with this mod. I love it. I have some questions regarding Mushrooms. The tool tips says they can be chopped, but when i put them in my crafting menu with a knife nothing happens, though I have no trouble with a regular veggie.    I have tried puffballs, chicken of the woods,  and two smaller white ones whose name I forgot to write down, but I can't chop any of them.  Nor can I just bake them in the fire pit singularly. I can put two of them  together in spot one and two in the cooking pot and get a 305 satiety meal, and same with a veggie but that is about it.

I am sure I am doing it wrong. Thanks for the advice!

i think the knife needs to be in a specific spot in the crafting grid to chop things, check the handbook and make sure it matches up if you're still struggling!

if you're trying to cook, or part-bake them on their own, you need to use an oven instead. a clay oven or cauldron should cook them how you want.

The hand book showed the mushroom/veggie in the center with the knife in the box to its left which is exactly what i was doing. Works for veggies but not any mushrooms.

EDIT to add.
I feel like I am dumb. I have some red clay, and was going to make the sauce pan and some bottles. When I laid the clay down and the crafting menu for designs popped up, the sauce pan and bottles and other ceramics included in the mod are not in the options to choose from.  Is it  because I am using red clay? Here is a screen cap of all my crafting options for clay, and the sauce pan and bottles are not there.  The things in the upper left corner are potion bottles for the alchemy mod.

So, I went back and reread the guide, and apparently None of the expanded food clay items can be made with red clay. So I went looking for blue clay now that I have an idea of what clay in soil looks like, but found none within hundreds of blocks of my base.  TONS of RED clay and peat, but no I have no deposits of blue clay around. Guide says it is near sea level. So I walked several thousand blocks south  until i hit the ocean, and strolled along the coast, but still have never found blue clay.

Aside from running around randomly, what is the best way to locate blue clay?

Hello

I just noticed a crash with pickledeggchicken recipe in handbook, when you have wildcraft fruit and nut mods. The vinagar icon dont show, and if you try to click on it, it crash the game.

Is it me or the mod was supposed to be compatible ?

I am using 1.7.4 mod version.

HI. I am getting a weird error upon startup. It takes a few minutes, maybe 2-3, but then It will ignore it and  load the world.  Here is the log.  Can anyone tell me what it is?

I also had another error pop up when loading a saved game,  error expanedclay oven north already has defined class. It will repeat this for all the other cardinal directions. After a minute or so, it will ignore it and load the game. I can't find the error code in the logs, but its a huge log lol.

This is a reposting of what I put on the Mod page.  I turned off everything except Expanded foods and ACA and still got the errors with the trader, errors with various textures, and the strange north, south, east, and west Expandedclayoven class not registered error.  and crashing when examining the candle recipe.

So I created a new world with all my mods on except EF and ACA and got NO crashing when looking at the candle, and no errors popping up anywhere.   I really want to use EF, but it seams to be making 1.20.12 unstable.  I guess I will have to tolerate the vanilla cooking system till it is updated.

.  I had not used the sauce pan yet as I was playing at a slow pace.  Well I just tried it, and upon putting the sauce pan in the fire pit, the game crashes to desktop.  Here is the crash log.  It does it every time I put sauce pan in the fire pit.   It looks like the only recipes I can use are the smashed meat, and vanilla recipes using cooking pot.  I have not yet tested clay oven, but I feel like it will crash as well.  Here is the crash log.

Can anyone give me a run down of how salad works? I have a manual mixer and am trying to put in chopped cooked cattails in first slot, chopped fresh field mushrooms in second slot, cooked meat nuggets in third slot, fresh berries in fourth slot, and nothing happens. I can't get it to mix as it does not look like a valid recipe, yet according to the handbook entry this should be a valid recipe. I have 1 of each ingredient.   What am I doing wrong?

i think the first two chopped veg have to be uncooked, but i might be wrong! if that doesn't work, try using something other than cattails

Obviously it's a moddb detection test :)))))
Or a culinary flavour of cryptominer, it's 50-50 either way

I guessed that it is just buecause the textures aren't specified in the json files, they should load different. I tried to put myself a challenge to try and fix some errors that I have in this mod so I can learn but I think that I'm too confused with how all of it works

Hello! Love the mod, though it is very confusing for me (my fault for downloading it when I'm not even that knowledgeable about the basic game and cooking). I just wanted to ask, is there a way of making a complete meal (like vegetable or meat stew) in a cauldron from the basic game ingredients? Or just putting stuff together? Or does it have to be very specific recipes you list in the first post? I was hoping to use the cauldron like a giant cooking pot but now I'm doubting myself.

the cauldron is for large processing of materials that you'd normally cook in the saucepan, you can't make meals in it, but stuff that goes in meals instead, like broths and syrup and candy.

i think there are other mods that are compatible with this mod (afaik) that include metal cookpots that cook more servings at once

No. The cauldron is a giant saucepan, as far as this mod goes. The saucepan is for exclusively EF/ACA recipes, not vanilla cooking.

This, however, goes incredibly well with EF/ACA: Metal Cooking Pots

Thank you for answering, that's great help, already downloading the mod! ❤️

I know its been a while and you probably have it figured out, but you can buy, pan or find blue clay in cracked storage vessels.
