It's hard to pick one. Probably Pokemon Blue?

I must have sunk countless hours into Lemmings (MS-DOS) before that, but I wouldn't say I ever thought about it while not playing. I certainly wasn't good enough at it to beat most of the levels.

I've probably spent more hours in Minecraft than any other game. It still invades my dreams on rare occasions, with its torches, grass blocks, zombies, skeletons, and creepers. (Even manages to be more coherent than that AI hallucination of Minecraft.)

As a kid I played NES games like LoZ and Mario, loved Pokemon Red and Blue, but what got me hooked, obsessed was LoZ Ocarina of Time. That game blew my mind, it was massive, 3D, and the music was beautiful.

Spoiler

In the final boss fight against Ganandorf, you can reflect his spell back with a bottle lol

Mine is: anno 1404

It had a warning message every 2 hours to remind you to take a break and they became increasingly passive agressive the longer you played XD

I have gotten several that warned me I'd been plaing for 16 hours straight.

Morrowind for me, especially after discovering Tamriel Rebuilt, mainly because while it may be dated, very easy to get immersed into and feels unique even today among fantasy RPG games. I'd also argue Gothic and Gothic 2, although more so for their gameplay as the world didn't really sell me nearly as well
