Hey folks,

Quick question about trees.  When manually planted as a seed, do trees continue to grow after their initial growth stage?

Seems to me like pine and birch do not while oak and maple do.

Just trying to figure out if there is a point to waiting to chop down trees.

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know in the vanilla game they do not. They have the respected growth cycles of planted seed->sapling->tree respectively but stop growing after the last stage.
I've personally never seen any tree grow once it's progressed past sapling stage into a grown tree.

However... There is a mod that does change how trees grow in a dynamic way, which means they will have 5 growth stages past sapling as well.
Meaning you'll eventually have bigger trees.

in vanilla VS the really big oaks maples and pines only get generated when creating the world.

like windego wrote planted trees do not grow wider trunks than 1 block in vanilla VS.

Funny that.  I managed to collect 2 redwood seeds from the wild.  Planted said seeds separately and chopped down 1x1 redwood trees.  Didn't get a single stinkin' seed after harvesting every single leaf block of both trees.  😡
