log placement change?

do you feel that the log placement is a bit weird? i do. if it placed better at longer distances or greater angles i wouldnt mind it as much. its a hassle for people to have to pillar up close to a horizontal log build just to place horizontal logs, or have to pillar up to place logs vertically.

 

my example ^ trying to build that required a lot of pillaring up to place those logs horizontally and being at-least 3 blocks away. or at head height.  the vertical ones required me to either be right next to them or to pillar up.

It would be super cool to have felled trees fall as logs that you could hoist into place and also chop into logs and mill into planks

I changed the mechanic now so that its places the log depending on the block face you are looking at. Will be in the next update.

I would prefer a ghost block that showed placement and you could rotate with the scroll wheel.

I like your idea of the ghost block, but to make construction faster it would need to retain last selection. Just in case you want to place a whole bunch of blocks in the same orientation, you would not need to scroll the wheel each time.
