Is this spawnrate normal?

I have now killed about 25 wolves in the first 5 days and now i'm just avoiding them. A wolf family spawns in about 50 blocks from my home, i go over and kill them to save the pig family nearby, i go back home and when i look back a new pack has already respawned. the pigs are dead bcs i'm sick of having to go over there 2 - 3 each day to get rid of them. is this normal?

Or keep enough wolves in a pit to prevent more from spawning...

Or consider you have a reliable source of animal hide and fat.
