Fall damage is inconsistent. How does it work?
Never Jhonsen replied to Keven Dallaire's topic in Questions
Because your Seraph is cool and epic and uses the friction of sliding down a wall to slow a fall From what I understand, this is a feature -
you've got three traders discovered in a line, which gives you the chance of finding more nearby Traders usually spawn in a rough triangular pattern from each other, assuming they can find some valid ground Yet another creature has edited your map, this time to show off possible trader locations. Assuming they could find a valid spawning point, you should be able to find someone in those purple spots

It happens The "5 units = 1 bit" threw me off a lot when I started playing as well It's an odd way of setting it up, having the smallest unit being 5 and not 1.

New world with imported base, but playerdata is messed up

There's an item remapping that happened between 1.20 and 1.21. I'm going to assume that the old 1.20 mapping info was copied over, without getting the 1.21 mapping update. Of course, I was also under the impression that the item remapping for 1.21 only affected the new stuff, such as the clay items, so I could be wrong -
Fall damage is inconsistent. How does it work?
Never Jhonsen replied to Keven Dallaire's topic in Questions
While I too have experienced the rare instances of falling down 10+ blocks and taking 0 damage, there is one feature that many new players may not know; sliding down a wall will remove your fall damage Almost all of the instances from where I've fallen down steep areas without taking damage, have been within less than a block from a vertical surface (tree, cliff wall, steep ground hole I failed to jump over). -

I remember this from the 1.20.0 change log, but didn't know that others thanks for doing the research -
Thank you so much. you've saved me. That High Contrast mode sucked

I dropped my phone while browsing the forum, and now the whole of the Vintage Story website looks like this. I can NOT for the life of me figure out how to return to the previous skin, if anyone knows how to, please let me know

Sounds like I need to revisit Tobias then I did all of the story stuff on 1.20.0, and didn't know there was a vault added since

Lo-Phi on Bandcamp does the ingame music, and I THINK the sound design as well; at least, they help with it in some ways -
/worldconfig clutterObtainable yes ; this allows all clutter to break, no gluing required

It is intentional game design for the same reason torches don't burn out when in your inventory, or that holding a torch in your inventory/chest doesn't set you/it on fire Making everything realistic comes at a price of game playability, and this is one of those exceptions where the devs would rather make the game playable, than realistic With that being said, I can repeat the classic Vintage Story Forum line of "You can always make a mod of that".

I've heard that type of mob can drop a wide variety of loot bows, swords, maybe even armor, tools, friendships, blocks, and more.

High, not medium, but otherwise correct

If you run two cooking pots at once, each with 6 portions and ingredients all matching AND in the same 4 slots as each other, then you can fill three crocks with that My current home has 4 pits in the kitchen, and I'll bulk make 6 crocks worth of food at a time for winter storage. Usually porridge or stew, as I farm a lot of vegetables and grains.

I've had multiple hits on Poor readings for Chromite, I've yet to find a decent area myself. I've usually found it between 65 and 30, but that doesn't mean it can't spawn higher/lower.

This is intended behavior. Your next step is to click one of the two choices on the dialogue box 1.(inspect the skeleton.) 2.(Inspect the wounds.)

Something I started over a decade ago in that other block game, was making a daily journal of what I did that day. And while it's taken my quite a bit longer in Vintage Story to get set up, I've been doing the same in my current world Just write a bit down right before bed, like a late-night retelling of the day's adventures

We really should. While I haven't personally had this happen to me, I think it's safe to say that an arrow shot at me whilst sleeping would absolutely wake me up.

My main laptop is a linux-based system, also ARM And while I do have an Intel desktop just for gaming, A.) it's not portable, and B.) BOX64 isn't quite up to the task of managing Vintage Story on this hardware. Having an ARM-based version that can be ported to MacOS and Linux would be a benefit to a small but very thankful crowd

That before looks very similar to the first ever house I built on Vintage Story The first tree I chopped down ended up being a large oak tree (an event which greatly skewed my early days of VS tree -> log output), and not being able to carry even 1/2 of what dropped, I just built a log house right on the spot. It was. .. well only a mother could love an ugly baby, lets put it that way

I had this exact issue when I updated. No stuttering, but major performance loss in forested areas. Which I live in a forest, that's my home I couldn't tell you what was causing it, but turning off the new clouds brought me back to 1.20 levels of performance

rework A Case for a Rework of Ground Storage, and maybe more.
Never Jhonsen replied to iLorde's topic in Suggestions
This is a roadblock I too have encountered Here's some shelves I built in a library. Made them in 1.19, added things to them in 1.20, photo taken in 1.21. Ignore the one shelf with the wrong grain, I forgot to fix it. As you mentioned already, that one little bottle has a full block hitbox. What I didn't see you mention however, is that you need a full block-surface to start a ground storage space. I am NOT able to start a ground storage space on top of these shelves in a normal way. So unless that was changed in 1.21, making shelves like above requires either A.) to place the block, then items, and then chisel the shelves out, or B.) a whole process with dirt blocks and falling items (The method I had to do for all 12 shelves). Every update since I've joined in 1.13 has been inching its way closer and closer to this goal. I remember when they allowed Charcoal to be ground stored in 1.14, I've been making a huge pit in my smithing area ever since to house all of my charcoal Which I can show off, as it's already in my existing media That hole is 3 blocks deep, the glass at floor level is there so you can see that. -
