love this idea, easy disposable way to update friends of your ingame progress or do RP.

Love these ideas! I could also see tar being used to expand your trapping options, either being an optional addition for efficiency or letting you create new traps that slow down prey. You could also add tar trails, an alternative to blood trails that don't require you to damage the animal to track it but don't last as long as a trade off. It'd also be a useful way to know what animals you've hit already; shooting a tar-covered arrow could leave some splotches on the animal, so you know that that's the one you've damaged. Overall it's a good way to reward herding tactics while offering some QOL options that require a bit of prep. Please please please, vintage story devs, add this! The idea of using tar for medicinal purposes is also so perfectly gross, I love it.

Occasional scary/terror inducing events suggestion

Being a fellow horror fan, I do see the appeal of this, but it's a better mod idea than base game addition. People are right in that it doesn't really fit the current intention of the game but that's why modding is so heavily encouraged by the devs. I hope anyone with a similar idea sees this post and puts their project out there though, I'd play the hell out of it. -
An inversion in monster distribution philosphy
Liefeling replied to Rainbow Fresh's topic in Discussion
This is honestly a valid critique. I can't think of a truly clean solution that doesn't make the game feel overly easy, but the core complaint is definitely something I've also had gripes with, especially when I played for the first time. Finding out how much armor debuffs you when I was first playing felt "unfair" with how much fighting we were expected to do. Not that it has to be easy, but the options that are given to alleviate the burden need to actually serve that purpose. That doesn't necessarily mean armor needs to change though, it is a very realistic aproach in line with the concept of the game. However as LadyWYT mentioned, combat itself is too clunky a system to add that extra layer of complexity onto it without feeling immensely frustrating at times. -
For anyone that's looking at this for a way to cleanly uninstall games from their pc, there's this free app called revo uninstaller I use. It does a bunch of things but one of them is scrapping through your computer to find leftover game / app files and delete them. That function has helped me a lot, especially with annoying third party launchers or buggy game installs. Hope this helps anyone having issues in the future !

I have been on the forums for a few days now and noticed the "wolf bait" reaction being an option on posts. This might be me being dense but what is it supposed to mean ? Is it like an angry reaction ? Or an inside joke i haven't read up on ? Do people interpret it differently ?

That is actually SUCH a good idea. Honestly sounds like the perfect fix to the issue. You're right in that it does mean a lot more work though so i don't expect it to happen, but god would that be a cool addition !!

I'd love to see the addition of hoods that can be worn on top of the armor, mostly because cool. Other than that maybe armors that look a bit bulkier ? I understand there might be some restrictions due to the player model but a lot of armors and even clothes look quite lanky and uncanny to me because of the strange proportions, some bulky armor, hoods and capes could help that.

What are your thoughts on making the class have exclusive buff recipes ? Similar to what you would find in the current Alchemy mod (https://mods.vintagestory.at/alchemy) where it gives you nice but non-essential speed / damage / healing buffs ? If the class gets added i could think of three ways to make them feel distinct : - either they are the only ones able to craft the buffs - they're the only ones able to make a sort of "alchemy station" that can, once created, be used by all players to make the buffs - they get some type of "material cost reduction" to all alchemy recipes and / or an alchemy material harvest bonus I think the third option is probably the best one in terms of fairness, but i do like the first one because it gives you a reason to bring them along despite being weaker and gives them a more active role in actually "supporting" their team.

That's an insane idea, i love that so much ! Best way to flex on your friends.

I think @Maelstrom was just trying to confirm that electricity will not be a thing that gets added. While you're right that a statement from the devs shouldn't mean they can't change their mind, when they put one out it should be taken at face value. There is no point to holding out and saying "well we don't know the reason / whether they will change their mind" because their reasoning doesn't matter. It seems you are very keen on there being a possibility of them changing their mind, and there absolutely is one. But you're arguing that we can't take the roadmap or their statements as any sort of confirmation, which is not true. "No means no" -> "the game will not have electricity means the game will not have electricity" so assertion A means assertion B unless the developers say otherwise. In regards to the 1980s way of doing game development that maelstorm refered to and why it was praised. Back in the day making a game involved a lot less community input than currently, the devs had a vision for how they wanted to make their game and went with it. Nowadays, while community feedback is good at improving the game, listening to them too much can dilute it and make it hard to understand what the game is "trying to be" (a certain unnamed block game comes to mind). So it seems to me maelstorm is praising the devs for being very steadfast in what they believe their game should be, and i personally agree with that sentiment.

If you're a hardcore completionist you could go for collecting all the butterflies / flowers / fish. Once you have a good economy set up you could try to get an albino elk by buying a shit ton of them from traders ? (the odds of getting an albino are like 2%) Even if you're not at the point of doing these yet, they take quite a bit of preparation and setup so it's good to have them in the back of your mind while playing.

There many ways to play but here's a quick guide to the most commonly used words / tags : Servers are either modded or unmodded (also called vanilla), if they are the mods can focus on the difficulty of the game (making things easier / harder) or expanding upon it (new content like mounts, magic, dungeons, clothing, plants, etc). Servers will reset every so often as the ressources get used up and the map becomes crowded, if a server is advertising a recent "wipe" it means they have just started over. When they are tagged as "hardcore", "realistic" or "brutal" you can expect mods that make the experience more difficult (colder climates, less crop yield, higher hunger / damage rates). Server with tags like "Civilisation / CivSim" or "Roleplay / RP" heavily focus on the interpersonal part of multiplayer. Here you can expect larger settlements, cooperation between members, rivalries between towns and assigned roles (farmer, smith, cook, etc). Each town or nation on these servers usually have some sort of "lore" which can include religion, political doctrine and myths. Anything tagged as "chill" is usually more small scale and less serious. These are servers where people just hop on and off when they feel like it and play without any pressure. "PVE" usually indicates a ban on behaviour that is harmful to other players. No stealing, fighting or destruction of bases, everyone works together. "PVP" indicates the opposite, fighting and sabotage are allowed within reason, each PVP server sets their rules a little differently. Lastly, servers sometimes add the location or language of their users in their descriptions, things like "ENG" for english speakers, "EUR" for european timezones / hosting location. Hope this helps make it a little easier, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.
