  1. Setting Optimize RAM in the config file to zero does appear to help quite a bit. I can't say all the large stutters (including audio stop) have gone away, but it is better than it was for me. I will keep trying things.
  2. I agree with Maelstrom here. No one at Anego Studios is "leaving" the game like this current build. I am currently vexed with Boars as the telltale squeal of piglets (snort, snort!) puts an extra charge in my shorts and yeah, there is a whole thread on combat redux, etc. This stuff takes time and I am certain that Tyron has an outline, but things go sideways a lot in programming, so as they said in "Battle of Britain", I'll leave strategy for those with egg on their hats. I can say much the same regarding 7 Days to Die. The Huenink brothers get flack continuously, but it is their game and they can choose to develop it as they like. I don't see Vintage Story evolving all that much different. While one hopes it won't involve a decade-long Alpha/Beta, I have made peace with it all. You know what? They only charged me once for 7DTD and The Long Dark and both are still going strong with independent studios and small teams. Maybe, just maybe they are all on to something? It certainly won't come in the player base's preferred timeframe, but Anego will get there.
  3. Thanks YK, I will give it a shot today. Welp, no joy. I still have large single stutters about once a minute or so.
  4. I was wondering if I was the only one. Big, large skip stutters with latest stable patch about every minute, give or take. I have tried turning down a few higher fps settings to no avail (this wasn't necessary with previous stable patch). Edit: Noticing this is an older report thread, but I just started having this issue this week (April 20th, 2025). Previously the game ran outstanding with quite high settings except for shadows (med) and God Rays (off). As of 4/27: I played the game for a couple hours and the frequency of the big stutters has abated somewhat; at least it seemed like it was happening less. Not sure if a number of storms that happened to my character in a short timeframe had anything to do with things. Doing some more testing today. CPU: Ryzen 7 9800X3D GPU: AMD RX 7900XTX w/24GB RAM: 64GB DDR5 Windows 11 Pro on NVME SSD 4th gen drive.
  5. I think you just summed up the last decade in America my friend.
  6. As a new-ish player of Vintage Story, I am all for any improvements the team could make to combat that will streamline the feeling of the flow and cause & effect for the player. Combat gets a bit wonkish when mobs get inside your arm swing range and a few other things (of which I do not understand). I don't want any changes to make it easier to tank or ignore combat. To me, the hallmark of VS is the limited responses (at least early on) of fight or flight. If combat could somehow feel better as the player w/o nerfing the experience and inherent difficulty we have now I would be a happy camper. I am still in baby steps learning to deal with how to spend my time efficiently while still surviving in the beginning and I think that's great! The last thing I want (and I imagine the Devs too) would be for Vintage Story to cave and turn into a mealy mush of a game that doesn't stand its ground on intended experience. It's OK if your game is not for everyone and that should be celebrated.
  7. Eh, when it's done is fine for me- this year or next. I have so many games and so little time to begin with... Thanks for all the hard work this year Tyron & Co.
