  1. I wouldn't mind going further. With that said - they are going for an at least somewhat realistic approach - i look at what they done with metalworking, and with that said, a don't think further than steam age is praktical or realistic. What would i like to see? Well steam, water power and distillation is in the roadmap. I would like to see a more immersive textile crafting and glass making. I wouldn't mind seeing glazed pottery. Sure, that could include a large ceramic oven. There is a lot of things to add to make medieval and iron age crafting more immersive. I would like to see more weapons, more furniture and so on. But even this is going to take a lot of effort. What they are planning in regards som steam i guess is some pretty simple Newcomen machine, that would mean early 18:th century. But i guess vintage story technological development isn't quite the same as ours. I would like to see some sort of gun, and if we talk about "steam age" guns are pretty advanced. I could settle with a simple matchlock gun. You could have even simpler hand cannons. I game could have a wide range of guns, but this is a lot of programming and something i never think the game is going to contain. I think the developers got quite a lot to do, with riding and boats, apart from everything else, i don't think going further in technological development is something to focus on. Perhaps something for modders.
  2. Getting more and more interesting. Got some rabbits and racoons inside again, still winter so i don't mind. But one of the rabbits didn't have a hitbox. I couldn't kill it. First i thought the carcasses of the others hid it, but when i carved them up it still didn't show up. Managed to kill it still by throwing rocks at it. But still no hitbox so i couldn't harvest it. Are these things common? It moved up the wall when it died, but animals usually do things like that when they die.
  3. This is some sort of bug... I haden't spotted them for long, cut down most of nearby trees. Berrys don't grow in winter, and no bees, so i figured problem might be solved in spring when i can get new bees. Then i heard something... From my deepest storage room, hidden behind tree closed doors. There, in the room was a racoon! If they spawn like this i don't have a chance
  4. It could perhaps be this corner, racoons seem to gather there anyway, perhaps they jump on each other to get over, so i put some upside down stairs there. Anyway, winter has come so i can't get any new bees anyway, so i can aswell wait. Going to build another garden besides the first so at least some are safe if they get in.
  5. Noo! Just got back from visiting my old base, found two racoons among my berry bushes and one among my beehives that had destroyed all but one (it was empty, that's why he left it )Do i need to put a roof above my beehives? Got a group of pigs spawning as well. Don't know what to do...-
  6. Yes, i read about that. I know the forest next to the beach spawn wolfes. When i found them in my farmland that was only about 5 blocks in to the water from the original shoreline, so i didn't find that too strange. This is at least 40-45 blocks from the scoreline into the water - i didn't think that could be "forest biome". By the way, i read somewhere that wolves spawn in blocks above sea level. If you cut down the ground level below sea level, does that stop wolves from spawning?
  7. Guess so . These aren't that much trouble, but i wouln't like to get the racoons back among my beehives, and when i don't understand how the spawning works i get nervous.
  8. No more racoons. But i got two wolf pups that spawned inside my pen. Or, climbed the corners of the fence somehow. As far as i know wolfes spawn in forests. Now, this is built in the lake, there shouldn't be a wolf spawning area. I had them spawning right where my farm is in the beginning. That was also lake before i built out the farm, but rather close to an island.
  9. I still think berries ar overpowered towards crops and meat early game, specially before being able to craft pot and bowls. I have been thinking you should be able to make a wooden bowl, but that don't make much change in this regard. Still, it's not a mayor thing for me.
  10. Minecraft did pretty ok without a "purpose". They added the enderdragon later - and sure - i do think Vintage story need some kind of "end". But like in minecraft, it shouldn't be the main thing, you should be able to enjoy the game without "ending it", and you should be able to keep playing even after the end. The point of the game is to survive and craft.
  11. If you want primarily a PvE-game or PvP-game there are plenty out there - Vintage story is never going to compete in that regard. Dungeon crawling game there are also plenty that can do it better. I don't mind improving combat or dungeons - but i don't see the point in making that the main focus. And i think in order to keep the game entertaining through the grind i think more crafting and more additions to the nature is needed.
  12. Not sure what to do about it - but i do think berries gives to much saturation. You don't need any supplies exploring in summer - berries will be more than enough to get you though. It means getting other kind of food that takes longer to gather is unnecessary. On the other hand, the first day is usually pretty hard. You need to set up a base, get a fire going before nightfall, you don't have to much time exploring and all your stuff is very basic. The first days can't get to much harder. But perhaps lower growth rate is a way to not make the firsts days harder. I think gathering berry bushes and planting in your base is a litte overpowered as food source.
  13. Thing is - bees are not rare, they are just hard to spot. From my experience in my first world, i pretty soon found a beehive next to my spawn point. I destroyed it though, trying to clear the leaves hiding it. After that i had a hard time finding a new one. The next one i didn't even see - i shopped down a large oak, when i found bees swarming around me and beeswax on the ground, the oak had hidden a beehive. It took some time to find the next one, but not long after i found another just next to that one. And not long after i found a new one just next to my second base - i had walked past it several times and never spotted it. Listen for the sounds and look for the bees - but they can look a lot like leaves in the wind from a distance.
  14. I think more content and options would solve this somewhat (even if i believe this game is going to require that you can stand some grind). If you still had more animals to encounter, more plants to find in the forest, and more low tier stuff to craft, you could start with some small advances towards getting iron and later steel but still have a lot of things to do and discover while you wait for getting there. But dungeons might be one part of it.
  15. Sorry, i been away on vacation. Here is a snapshot from inside the wall. There is a lot of wall and i do have items next to the wall. Still, i think the wall should be high enough to not let animals jump over. I know the fence around the garden is to low to protect it during winter, but figured i can take care of it later. Planned to remove all crops by then anyway, and if i can stop spawning inside the wall it shouldn't matter. I don't have anything next to the outside of the wall, apart from some lanterns, but they are all 3 blocks from the ground, they shouldn't be able to jump on them.
  16. I noticed i had replaced one block inside the wall and got grass growing there - could that be it? It should explain the racoon anyway?
  17. Well now i had a racoon inside my wall anyway - not with the beehives thankfully, but on the other side. No wood there, all doors closed, no logs inside. Barrels, fence - they shouldn't spawn racoons? I put wines on a wall - can they do something? I also got pigs and sheep inside, spawning right in front of me. Previous i thought whey where spawned by grass aswell, so i cleared out all of it. What triggers them to spawn?
  18. Yes, hope that this will work then as well. Noticed that when i put ladders on the outside of the wall one block up, drifters can't jump on to them from the water, but in winter they can walk up to them on the ice and climb over.
  19. Ok. This far i haven't gotten any more racoons among the beehives. Don't know if it was the stone blocks that did the trick. Cutting down the trees clearly made the racoons fewer. But on occasion they swim from the other side of the lake.
  20. Ok, didn't know that. Yes, no naturally spawned logs in my base. How far from them can they spawn? There are a few trees north of the base, perhaps 30-40 blocks. Should perhaps cut them down. By the way - how far away can they detect beehives? I haven't gotten any more racoons since i placed the stone blocks on the fence, but perhaps i just haven't waited long enough yet.
  21. There are racoons in the water outside the fence, that's why i think they must come that way. The water is the reason i haven't built a trench, but i guess i will have to do that anyway...
  22. I been thinking about other ways. The only way up on the wall is by ladders and stairs inside my house - they cant really spawn there. My house and wall is only stone. Inside on the other side of the wall there is grass, but i cut all grass there, seen no raccons spawning there even if i got berry bushes. I been looking if i missed some spot of grass not being covered with flowers next to the beehives, but i cant find any despite removing all flowers and replanting them.
  23. I keep getting racoons inside my area with bees, despite having a two rows high fence. My only explanation is that they jump on top of each others in the corners, and figured i might place a solid block in the corner to keep them away. Will this work or do i have to try something else?
  24. Aha, thanks - i had no idea. Noticed that the snowfall seemed to upgrade - slowly or fast when you entered a chunk - but i thought it had to do with some triggers, not a slow update.
  25. I get this a lot, if you enter an area at surtain temperature, it gets covered in snow shortly after loading. The snow then starts melting at plus degrees celsius, but get removed completely at a higher temperature. So all is down when the chunk was last loaded and the temperature when it was. The game only load the are closest to you, that why you get this.
