as @Maelstrom said its not how long you have been in the community, we just want all the players to enjoy VS, to comment on what they like, or dont like it is all valuable. We just want people to understand we want the best for the game, not to kill it... the game you see now may adapt, lets shape it together.

Its a all player preview, not a circle of special players, we can elect to play this build and help it... I think this a positive thing, as in if I want I can try the latest build and see what it does, rather than be a special thing only certain players can attain, we can all help shape the game... or elect to just enjoy the game that is on offer, there is no push we join or not.

I think VS's style is the better part, or we could go the same path as MC, a trove of treasures that make the early game struggle meaningless, as is why look for copper when the ruins offer steel ? Look at MC YT vids, they accept a challenge yet the ruins often give so much the challenge is a joke, this is not a fault in MC but it would be in VS. I think the lack of stuff is a lore related theme, they are starving they are lacking they dont store valuables because they dont care for baubles, they want food and a respite from [lore spoiler content]. The ruins are not from when the world was at its best, most when it was desperate, the loot is often things that were scarce to a people that lived away from the world... not diamond armour or enchanted tools, seeds for planting, cattails for crafting, clay for molding. Is it odd we dont get OP items ?

The team is not above taking information from players, I am sure they know there is some parts that could be improved, just a case of how to do this without spoiling the game... I mean we could have a forced intro, but no one likes that but at the same time a intro that someone could use, will not be used as hey we all played MC so we know what to do. Its not too easy to guide new players, but not spoil the game, and not take control away. I learnt the game via a few YT video's , but I am a person who doesn't mind being spoilt... I just wanted to play the game.

One the original game VS was already started by the team, two the other game will just be a mod of the original game... the idea here is that even the core game is a mod, so the engine is a means to power other games is already in the core, it was always the intention of the core team to make a system to power other games, other than the game the VS team intended... the game is a mod already.

I get that on Windows 10 as well, its just that VS is not on the whitelist, its free of Malware... a pain in the butt that Edge keeps hiding the file under drop down lists so I can get to the file . -
What is with this entitlement ? You paid for a product that you received, a product that told you it was still in development, that would take a while... not donating to a crowd funding venture. Anego is fully in the right to use the proceeds of the business as they see fit. What's with this 'I paid you money and now you are not doing what I want' way of thinking ? You have what you paid for, if you are not happy then refund the damn thing and get lost, the community does not need such entitled people.

I highly doubt it will be a paid for mod, I think it will be split off onto a different game if it becomes popular enough. VS is a niche game, even amongst block games in that it does not try courting the masses, so it would still be viable to have a new title to sell to the masses that did not find VS appealing.

Now I could be thought as one of the VS first camp of players, as I enjoy VS and its current trajectory and road map, so one could infer I am against this 'adventure mode' however I am not. I decided to see the 'adventure mode' as a mod, a total overhaul mod that Anego will hire on a small (3-4 developers) team to work on separately from VS itself, with a potential benefit to VS in the form of enhanced mechanics where said mechanics fit in the the VS vision. The cost to this mod is not in VS developer time, nor will it impact VS releases, the cost is the staff cost of adding the small team, and I am in no position to question Anegos' finances so I will simply trust them to know their own business. In brief, VS will continue as normal and we may get a 'adventure mode' out of the deal, we may get some enhancements to VS that fit with the vision, but we will still get VS. Don't forget Tyron left Hypixel due to the conviction he had to his vison, which he started VS, he will most certainly not change his vision to accommodate another now.

This is one thing I couldn't square with the idea of Hytale being a mod of VS, how could you monetise Hytale as a mod. I cant see Tyron simply giving up the VS engine as a separate project... first Anego is a studio that has some stake in the block game, second the VS engine is still being developed. I figured it would be a mode of VS that the old Hytale devs could work on, to bring the game to the fans and not a separate game to be sold separately, if it was not it would stink of DLC... imagine the start a game (SP or Multi) having a greyed out option, kind of go against the grain here. I would prefer a separate game if that was a case, rather than have a option I was not allowed to touch in my VS game... a Hytale DLC to VS, yuck. Maybe I am too sensitive to the current gaming models of over DLC'ing everything, leaves a bad taste in ones craw I would say. I would say at this stage, unless Simon actually pulls it off, make Hytale a mod set of VS for gratis, if Simon gets things rolling you can move the mod to the actual game that works on its own. Hytale could carry on, and if things work out go to a actual game, the devs could work on stuff that should translate to the 'main' Hytale game if it goes well, or stay at Anego to develop VS. Just my opinion.

The problem is that you are trying to fight all the time, now this is fine if you enjoy combat but then you will hit the wall early game of being overwhelmed by the drifters. Most players will note rift activity, press C by default and look at the details under your avatar it should have a line about rift activity, alternatively you can use a mod like Simple HUD clock patched (Simple HUD Clock Patch - Vintage Story Mod DB) to see the activity. Rift activity controls how much will spawn naturally in dark places, and the number of rifts in the world will appear. Most players will limit cave exploring early game, but you can often take a peek and keep the dive shallow and be ready to escape when the drifters come. To properly cave dive you will want armour and equipment like shields, a good amount of torches and ladders and fences to block passages. Dealing with surface drifters during high rift activity is usually just a case of bunkering down at your base , dont forget to refresh your placed torches to reset the 48 hour expiry timer, and wait for daylight, then either clearing the stragglers or simply leave the area to force a despawn, depends on what you plan to do that day. Food becomes manageable when you get a cooking pot and bowl/s via clay forming, cooking meals lets you stretch out your food reserves and gives a buff that pauses your hunger bar for a while, depending on how filling the meal was (see guidebook for details on meal making). If you think its boring to simply bunker down all night you can always sleep most of it away, or better plan activities that you can do inside like clay forming and/or knapping tools for the next days work. -
I get it its a preview so will have some issues, I am not complaining here just asking. I installed a fresh 1.21 pre 1 version, knowing it will be probably a mess, no issue there. I do want to ask why the mod folder has a new .txt file that says "This place is reserved for the base game mods only (VSSurvivalMod VSCreativeMod and VSEssentials). Do not use it for other mods, instead put other mods in the VintageStoryData/Mods folder." Mods added to the old mod folder still work, but that txt file suggests the mods will need to be moved to a new folder, just I couldn't work out if I had to make the new folder, and if its VintageStoryData/Mods or VintageStory/Data/Mods... neither folder is in the preview version, just the new .txt file. Mods placed in the mods folder still work as one would expect from a preview version, some work some half work most will have errors. Will we have to create a new mod folder, and if I assume a type... is it VintageStory/Data/Mods or as it says in the .txt file...VintageStoryData/Mods folder. I dont mind the typo, just want to clarify which it is, my worlds are forfeit as expected but I cant see which folder I should add my mods to.

I am trying to avoid spoilers here, there is a good reason, the traders are adventures as in those that will try there luck outside, as in its usual for most to not be out there... its not a normal place. The number is to make sure players have access to them... suck to have limited amount and not have a treasure hunter in your seed. Its a case of lore is good but no one wants to play for hours and find they cant see the lore because the trader they need spawned in the ocean, as in they dont spawn. I say again delve into the lore, like a souls like its spare but if you pay attention there is a story, the story may explain why things are what they are... I mean do you want me to explain all the details, ruin the fun of reading lore, of exploring ? You may but I think others prefer to find this stuff out.

The lore suggests that villages wouldn't pop up a lot, its a dangerous world with those pesky rift mobs all about, the deeper you explore the lore you will see why there cant be a lot of villages, its not a normal world. Aquariums would indeed be a nice addition, once more fish options are in the game.

Thats what the mod I mentioned does, its slow when used without the windmill, and when you can use a windmill you are past most pottery related progression, as in at that time you are mostly making crocks and rooftiles I would guess, so the speed improved wont effect progress.

It may all become a moot point, it seems the other CEO of Hytale , Sammy is looking to buy back the IP and try jump starting the game from a older point and getting the game out to players sooner, then add features and such, sort of like what Tyron did with VS, develop while the game is being played and using player feedback (and support) chipping at the games features at a more reasonable pace. He is quick to stress its a long shot with very little chance, but he is willing to try it and see what happens, keep your expectations at an appropriate level.

While I like the idea. the issue is how some random item interacts with the looted resonator, I don't like how a single resonator means all looted cylinders mean one looted res player is all you need. Heck I like how you cant play any resinators if you have no players at home, just how do you decide a player had an item ? I prefer the current get all. then probe ruins/. -

My comment is that if Hytale became a mod, I would support it, I wont be happy if It was a mod that overtook VS, I have no issue it was a mod that did its own stuff... that I can live with, but the game is not a mod that takes over VS, make a Hytale mod and make it cool... I would check it out. I am just a VS fan, dont step on some toes... make your stuff, but I like the VS stuff is all. I want to play VS at the end of the game, I just want VS. -
I am trying a new world, this time with Sols seed 'ThisisaWendys' , with 80% and 300% ... and got a nice world with a LOT of water/sea but it seems to be different from Sol's game, probably most of the land is underwater...eh I ask for more sea so far I am living , got to copper via some panning but overall seems ok. I have a lot of sea, or at least huge amounts of water spaces... so I based where I can make a port and see what I can see of the sea

I think that is how it works, you can play any cylinder in a resonator, even a trader one if you have the cylinder at hand ? There is no block to playing cylinders, you just cant nick the resonators -

It aint about money, hell he could buy Anego (hope not) but really its about will he make that game ? I think not but he can help make that mod, and show the world that mod is worth. I mean VS was a mod, based on a mod... and that mad lad made a engine and a full game instead, respect. I just want to make sure people dont think the offer is a free engine, its a option to make a mod on that engine, and dont think Steve will toss in $25 million, he is thinking about it. Rather just think of Hytale as a mod of VS, with adjustments to VS that work with the game.. the rest may be in the mod. -
I hope Hytale gets on its feet , but Tyron asked some devs come on board, or use the VS mod API to make a Hytale mode. Now its been turned into Tyron gave away the VS engine, no he didn't, and Steve said he will put 25 million dollars into Hytale, no he didn't he said he may IF his family said ok... jeez imagine the chat, hi honey I want to put 25 million dollars into a game thats already failed. a company tried to bankroll it and failed... sorry but the idea of Hytale as a game is dead. Tyron has offered a option you can make a mod that is Hytale on his engine. I really want Hytale to be a separate game, a game that is unique but the original vision is dead, but Tyron has offered a chance you can mod Hytale in his game. This is not a new Hytale, its a mod that can be Hytale, and I hope it can be done but please Tyron has not given the VS engine away, or made Hytale the game... he has offered the same as what modders have, a means to adjust the game to be Hytale... and hey I would be happy to try that mod. Tyron is not giving the engine away, nor is he pivoting to Hytale, the man already gave up on that vision, Tyron is offering an option to mod the VS game to be Hytale, and that is it. I would love a Hytale mod, but no its not a free engine giveaway.

I tend to just add when it adds some value, in my estimate, because I just want to add to the forums so I will often go quiet for long times, its not I lost interest its simply I have nothing to add at that time.

A mod called Verticality allows one to climb up 2 blocks, jump up and grab to climb 3 blocks iirc.
