If after an hour you still havent bought the game, you are unlikely to do so. Imo, an hour is more than enough to get your feet wet and see what the game is about.
-
You can set the despawn timer to an hour max, but in your case I would suggest Player Corpse instead. Works great, and saves the last 10 death inventories in the unlikely event a corpse doesnt get created or somehow got destroyed for some reason (Only lost 2 corpses so far under very unusual circumstances, born out of my own stupidity with regards to commands, and I can guarantee it will always spawn a corpse).

Creating paintings with painting utensils

This might work. But its been a while since it was updated... https://mods.vintagestory.at/lascaux -
did you check the spam folder? sometimes emails get sent there that doesnt belong there. @BurgTurdler

Did anyone find a solution for the tab problem? https://mods.vintagestory.at/tei looked like it may be on to something, but I dont think its a proper alternative yet.

Can the developers make a special demo version that can only be played for 1 hour? Just long enough to try the game before the person buys the game, and try to reduce the amount of refund requests being posted on the forums or support channels?

In a way the cellar ice does expire. I also realised that a little bit can go a long way if you manage it right. And although the crops have a very long shelf life, the same can not be said for the more perishible meats. So any means to extend the shelf life of meat before it spoils helps a lot. Especially if you are limited by the amount of meals you can make So from me, the core mods would have to be expanded foods, medieval expansion (the patched version), and primitive survival for their ability to add more methods for food (and by that I mean meat) preservation.

@OutcastAJ The official one does have a problem with crashes. Specifically with the Aurochs attack animation (and apparently the water wheels). So I suggest you use this version specifically. https://mods.vintagestory.at/medievalexpansionpatch I have had no crashes with that version, and it is recommended to use it until the official version is updated.

Except I've seen them actually attack moose before. Those wolves are mean, and got a wasp stuck in their bonnet...

Changing the dayspermonth will work. But something to keep in mind, the default is 9 days per month. Changing the dayspermonth will give the appearance of time going backwards. In otherwords, if you were on 17 August, Year 2 on your server changing the dayspermonth to 15 days could effectively change the date itself to 5 December, Year 0 (rough number, not accurate). I had that situation when I made a map on a server of mine, and changed the date from 9 days per month to 30 days. We just finished winter on our second year, and the command plonked us back into a much longer winter, in the year 0.
-
Well I guess mine must have been starving then, cause I had to drag a moose carcass out of a wolf pit on more than one occation.
-
48 boards stack per block is fine imo. I generally only use pine for planks in any case. And dont make more than 3 blocks worth of planks unless I absolutely have to.
-
dont have that problem tbh, if at all. if i see a wolf, i let them chase me into a near by pit trap, to be dealt with later in the year. Doesnt really work with bears, so when I see them, its "hunting season open" time for me. As for the occational herbevore that falls into a wolf pit trap, it keeps them fed (with the occational pup that spawns), and I just retrieve whats left of the carcass.

Tbh, my mud shack on a new map tends to have the reed baskets above the main entrance door, placed ceiling level. personally I think they are in a good spot.
-
I also use chiselled blocks in some of my builds (even my cellar). But I always make sure that it is 100% full, with no gaps.
-
Tried a cold biome start once, and didnt find any clay, or Peat for over 10k blocks. Did eventually find both, and they were several big areas. So yeah, sometimes you just have the unfortunate bad luck with not being able to find clay. No matter how much you look for it. One time I actually found some on a map half way up a mountain, and it was topped with glacier ice. Only reason I found it was I was hunting a bear near my base, and wasnt actively looking for clay then.

The problem with windows, and its The Biggest Problem, is that the installation needs to be redone every few months just to keep it running smooth. It was particularly annoying especially with Windows XP. It needs a fresh reinstall or factory reset at least once a year, and all problems can invariably be traced back to the registry as the eventual cause (https://www.quora.com/Do-registry-errors-slow-down-computers). You cannot even sneaze in the area of a pc running windows whatever without it picking up a virus (or 5+). In the case of Vintage Story, its just plain dumb bad luck on your part. Its not the culprit of the pc acting strangly. PS: The caps on "The Biggest Problem" was intentional...

My bad, I mispoke. Thanks for the correction.

As Maelstrom stated, the slabs are at fault. Switch to full blocks. If you use chiselled blocks, make sure that they don't exceed 50% used and do not have gaps in the blocks. It also needs to state that it is insulating blocks. Also get your cellar size down to 7x7x7 max on the inside. You can have 2 floors with the cellar if you split the room into 2. Thats what I do, and I have yet to get a failure with my cellar. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Cellar/en

I officially give up. Even when dug into a mountain side, with that 1 block hole. I still get Cheddar cheese, or cheese that spoils. Not worth the headache to make. Not when there are plenty of other tasks that I need to concentrate on inside the game.
-
Still ended up with cheddar . And the air hole ended up being snaked around the building in my attempt to limit the light. Utter failure
-
Screenshots will help a lot. Treid again yesterday and today, and eventually ended with a twisted 1x1 pipe that ran up, down, and around the building. and one of two things happened. Cheese wasnt ripening, or it ripened into cheddar cheese. Really ugly build that I am not even going to grace with a screenshot, it was that hideous.
