  1. I'd report it as a bug.
  2. Pretty sure it is random.
  3. Unfortunately we're going to see more and more of this as time goes by. The state of South Carolina started doing similar bullshit this year too. Just the latest case of gov overreach. I expect that 3rd party services will set themselves up as identity brokers, because I can't see giving proof of age, which would have to include a bunch of other PII to every service that requires it. That and more VPN providers from the countries that hold out against this, until they start blocking those.
  4. I feel the opposite; I'd expect a mod I just downloaded to be enabled, because if I just downloaded it, I 99% have intention of imediately using it. What it needs is to let each save game have it's own settings like other games do. Space Engineers is a good example, except it lacks the ability to set default mods for a new game. Project Zomboid would be a great example, because you can set mods as favorites that get force enabled on every save, and all your other mods you can set per save slot.
  5. I would absolutely like both of these mods to be part of the base game. They can also be easily made toggleable for the people who don't like them. I don't want to have to make and carry a friggin telescope either, I have trouble making out details and I get sick of squinting at everything, I consider the ability to zoom a QOL feature, not a cheat. Again, should be an option for those who want it. Got enough shit to carry around and not enough space for it, the more variety of items added, the more the game bogs down in inventory management. It already sucks as it is before backpack.
  6. The oceans aren't really empty either, some of the best mining in this game is to be found under large lakes and oceans. Well, in theory if you change your world gen settings, it should take effect on new chunks. Now if you are using terrain gen mods and swapping them out, I can tell you from experience, you are not gonna like the results. The transitions shouldn't be too bad between vanilla terrain gen changes.
  7. Yeah, playing the RC and there is a lot to look forward to in this update.
  8. Here is my setup, you can use 1 rotor if you wish, but then you are probably not going to be able to run 3 helve hammers: This is a great video, I learned a lot from it:
  9. Yeah, I wish the wine barrels would stay closed too. I also wish you could flip them sideways and stack them. The jugs need to be fixed too since it seems they kept the original short lifespan. I started fresh for 1.21 and I've got 21 barrels of wine and it is only Nov 1st. I should probably stop making it.
  10. I have set the accessibility settings for "camera shake" (because I hate it in general, not 100% if it changes anything for storms) and "glitch strength waviness" to minimum and that makes the storms...bearable. I really love the concept but I really hate the effects, they are headache inducing.
  11. I'm not familiar with that one. Too true.
  12. Panning gravel, exciting! Turning a quern by hand, almost as exciting! Ok, while initially I was of the other camp, I am starting to agree with all y'all who say reward doesn't have to match risk. (See! A man can change his mind, I have to run and tell my wife, she will never believe it) While there are things I don't like about this game (I'd love to find a middle road for the prospecting between vanilla and blatant cheating with a scanner), I do want it to remain a difficult survival game, and not turn into another bland rpg in a sea of bland rpgs (and no, I don't want to have a discussion on what constitutes and rpg or not, fuckin rpers, get off my lawn!)
  13. Fine. So it was a bad example on my part, but anyway, my point was there are times and places when it shouldn't be ok to say whatever you want, but it's a fine line. Granted in this day and age it is taken to extremes. More like the thunderous applause of the lawyers. Not me, I am against the nanny state western civilization is turning into and it concerns me that "1984" and "Brave New World" don't seem so much like fiction anymore. Next up are movies like the "Idiocracy" and "Demolition Man", probably followed by "Terminator"
  14. @Pentatope Try using a smaller world size, you can at least do less travelling to adjust the temperature to find your own personal "goldilocks zone" I agree though. I tried hot and warm starts and it just felt like the game was lacking without that goal of being ready for the first winter. I sure miss bamboo as a building material though.
  15. Trashcans?! Pretty sure those are empty wine barrels. Trashcans...
  16. Holy necro lol! Yes, everything can be precisely controlled now. Instead of dumping the last few liters, I just mix like 40 up in another barrel and then pour the leftovers in. Especially for borax, which I am more likely to make odd batches (to stop the rotting process), while tannin I will tend to wait for a full load.
  17. Release the Kraken! Yeah, @Katherine K I like those ideas.
  18. Now you're just being a nitpicker, of course I meant falsely, and while if I was writing a technical manual, it would matter, this is casual conversation. Do I really need to be 100% technically accurate for you to comprehend? If there was an actual fire, then yes, it would not be a crime at all.
  19. Yeah, I've found August is too soon for the cold weather crops because of excessive heat, but not sure if Sept is too late to get harvested before winter. Of course medium quality or terra preta makes a difference. It's not like I ever had a shortage of food past my very first game, so I guess it wouldn't hurt to not try and get so many plantings in anyway. Soil can always use a rest.
  20. There's a mod that helps organize the handbook better, although it, like a lot of mods isn't working for 1.21 yet. You can generally mouse over and scroll through the acceptable tools or materials, but yes, it could be better. As for ops, no, just no. I absolutely hate forced or hard-gated progression. It's just so gamey. Sure in theory, there is nothing to stop you making steel on day 1...just the lack of...oh...I dunno...everything!
  21. I still haven't seen the ocean, 2.5% doesn't sound like a lot, although I guess with the feature size being large it means when there is 1 it is big, admittedly I really still haven't got a good idea of how the land generation options really work or interact with each other. Having spent quite a bit of time sailing in the real world, that does pretty much sum up the experience. You either go where the wind takes you and just kinda chill or you want to go a particular direction and you tack constantly, which does get annoying. All things considered, I would much rather be able to sail to go long distances than try to hoof it, especially over rough terrain, but even forests are annoying AF to traverse with all the bushes.
  22. Well, yeah, I would group thematic things together for sanity's sake too. Simple food recipes are a no brainer. Although sometimes it is kinda hard to know what to group. I had tweaks to spawning and loot and looting all in 1 since it seemed sensible, but the whole thing became a mess with 1.21. Although it has been good to revisit some vanilla gameplay I haven't experienced in a while. Like I had disabled bowtorn and shivvers completely because of how badly balanced they were, it seems like they have been toned down a bit and now add enjoyable variety as they were intended. I'm really impressed with the default worldgen too, it used to be just horrific in so many ways.
  23. While, I agree completely in theory, but the case of yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater and the like being illegal is technically a form of censorship and I don't think I've ever met a single person who could argue in good faith that it shouldn't be illegal to do so. The same thing for suing someone for libel. Lying generally isn't a crime, except when it is.
  24. Yeah, I do rye and parsnips spring/fall, spelt and onions in the summer, flax all the time. Granted, sometimes you just have to go with what you have seeds for. The question is what day do you reasonably expect: The last frost of spring, heatwaves and the first frost of winter. I realize it is based on latitude & altitude, but there should be some rule of thumb. I guess I need to dive into the code at some point if I want to know the answer. Well, can't assume this isn't post industrial world, I am not up on all the lore but they kinda had an apocalypse. Could be approaching an ice age for all we know too. Now from my own experiences, NYC usually only the winter months, Seattle almost never, Black Hills of South Dakota I've seen snow in April. Saint Louis MO weather was just insane, Charleston SC it's usually warm but we have gotten snow the last few years (granted it melts in a few days). Oh yeah, almost forgot, Lake Tahoe, April, snowstorm. Granted it is high elevation, but it was like 90 in Reno.
