I still haven't seen the ocean, 2.5% doesn't sound like a lot, although I guess with the feature size being large it means when there is 1 it is big, admittedly I really still haven't got a good idea of how the land generation options really work or interact with each other. Having spent quite a bit of time sailing in the real world, that does pretty much sum up the experience. You either go where the wind takes you and just kinda chill or you want to go a particular direction and you tack constantly, which does get annoying. All things considered, I would much rather be able to sail to go long distances than try to hoof it, especially over rough terrain, but even forests are annoying AF to traverse with all the bushes.

Well, yeah, I would group thematic things together for sanity's sake too. Simple food recipes are a no brainer. Although sometimes it is kinda hard to know what to group. I had tweaks to spawning and loot and looting all in 1 since it seemed sensible, but the whole thing became a mess with 1.21. Although it has been good to revisit some vanilla gameplay I haven't experienced in a while. Like I had disabled bowtorn and shivvers completely because of how badly balanced they were, it seems like they have been toned down a bit and now add enjoyable variety as they were intended. I'm really impressed with the default worldgen too, it used to be just horrific in so many ways.

While, I agree completely in theory, but the case of yelling "Fire!" in a crowded theater and the like being illegal is technically a form of censorship and I don't think I've ever met a single person who could argue in good faith that it shouldn't be illegal to do so. The same thing for suing someone for libel. Lying generally isn't a crime, except when it is.

Yeah, I do rye and parsnips spring/fall, spelt and onions in the summer, flax all the time. Granted, sometimes you just have to go with what you have seeds for. The question is what day do you reasonably expect: The last frost of spring, heatwaves and the first frost of winter. I realize it is based on latitude & altitude, but there should be some rule of thumb. I guess I need to dive into the code at some point if I want to know the answer. Well, can't assume this isn't post industrial world, I am not up on all the lore but they kinda had an apocalypse. Could be approaching an ice age for all we know too. Now from my own experiences, NYC usually only the winter months, Seattle almost never, Black Hills of South Dakota I've seen snow in April. Saint Louis MO weather was just insane, Charleston SC it's usually warm but we have gotten snow the last few years (granted it melts in a few days). Oh yeah, almost forgot, Lake Tahoe, April, snowstorm. Granted it is high elevation, but it was like 90 in Reno.

Well, Tyron does live in Latvia, so that is "temperate" to him. I don't get 5 months, although I tend to settle at sea level. Granted I still haven't really figured out planting seasons for what, since it still always gets too hot and too cold at certain parts of the year. There was a chart someone did on Reddit that looked good but was wildly inaccurate for me.

To add to that, I would say resist the urge to make a big mod with all your changes for everything, unless you are going to strictly use it for yourself. It is a lot easier to remove a small mod that conflicts with some other mod that you want to use than to keep going back and editing unless you are like Dana level skill and are comfortable with making your mod modular.

LMFAO! It isn't "that" bad, just don't accept messages from people not on your friends list and then you just have to put up with the ever annoying updates trying to sell bullshit to you. I couldn't imagine not having it, but then I do have a long-term group of online gaming friends. Yeah, I meant to say "should" that "S" word gets me in trouble all the time though. Seems a bit strange to me (although scarily enough, I have modified live code on production systems, it's like the trapeze with no net), but then at least it does tell you make a backup before you go messing with it.

Oh hell, I didn't even know this was a thing. I been doing stuff by hand, usually taking someone else's similar mod and going from there. So you aren't modding the assets directly, you are making a copy of the asset and modding that. You make a patch which overwrites the same file/entries in the game since it loads after.

Multiple block coding tutorial errors
Krougal replied to thund3rmonk3y1's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
It always is, when you know the answer. Before then, not so much. Over 90% of my problems with any code I write are stupid syntax errors just like this so I feel ops pain. Props to you and @xXx_Ape_xXx for all the helpful modding advice around here. -
Many barrels! I approve! Really, this whole thing is beautiful! I usually end up building a large wine cellar under my regular cellar. I just can't help myself, and since Tyron made the wine last several years now, I make even more.

Yeah, yeah, I know. Everything scales. So when are we getting RC3? I went back to RC1 but it was crashing so bad I had to go back to RC2, at least it dawned on me, the work around for the food bowl CTD is don't eat until you are hungry enough to eat the whole bowl at once. And of course the moment I said that, my game started crashing repeatedly, turns out the partially filled bowl that I had to leave there to rot (because even picking it up caused a /0 CTD) when it finally decayed into weapons-grade material. So the fix for that is go into creative mode and go delete the offending bowl. If you are not nearby, then do a /time stop so the entity doesn't tick. Do /time resume when you're done.

Damn you, that picture should be blocked! I feel the urge to order a giant pepperoni pizza every time you post.

Someone mentioned pemmican? https://mods.vintagestory.at/vpemmican I've had it installed, but never used it. So I don't know how good it is. Like I'm gonna waste precious fat on food....pffffttt!! Losers! Let's come up with a recipe that uses fat and resin while we're at it, I'm sure it will be a big winner! Sticky bun. Now we just need ground cinnamon.

Oh, I suppose you are right. I mean I currently despise 7DTD because it has turned into such a gamey game and stopped being a survival sandbox ages ago, so I'd hate to see VS turn into something like it.

Long distance water transport - Aqueduct and reservoirs

LOL, how did we all miss this mod? -
Yeah, same here, I am not much for censorship but there are just some things that are common sense and unfortunately most people don't have any so we have to have laws. Haha, yeah, it was just a silly example I came up with quick. If the vegans take away my beef, I will start eating them. I'm getting real meat one way or another... I agree though about fear mongering, but sometimes there's a fine line between spreading FUD and legitimate concern.
-
On the contrary, it should be exactly 170 blocks, no longer and no shorter. 5 sails. No exceptions.
-
1. For now. That whole "If you aren't doing anything illegal you have nothing to fear" thing quickly falls apart when the laws change. So say some group of triggered vegans takes over and starts passing all kinds of crazy laws. VS depicts hunting, killing and eating animals. Something that was just fine for thousands of years. Now if it were made illegal and immoral then VS is in the same boat. 2. 100%.

Long distance water transport - Aqueduct and reservoirs
Krougal replied to Crylum's topic in Suggestions
Except when you have branch upon branch upon branch in your distribution system, it can quickly get out of hand. -
Oh. Has anyone else noticed the bear armor has a random clothing durability (independent of the armor durability) ? You can use a sewing kit on it, which will repair the clothing value, but not the armor itself. Obviously not worth doing, but for science! Although I guess if you absolutely need that last little bit of cold resistance for some polar expedition, maybe it would be worth it.

Long distance water transport - Aqueduct and reservoirs

I think you people are over-thinking this. Bottom line is it needs to be performant. I don't care how cool it is to have actual water flowing through if it drops me to 5 FPS. -
Careful, there are a lot of boomers in this forum for realz.

I think I passed that and went right to grumpy old man. Get off my lawn!!!

Well I am not quite as old as some of you I guess I started playing D&D, AD&D and Traveler in...early 80s? Someone said Daggerfall...ahhh, not my first game of course, but it still holds a special place in my heart. Sure it was the usual bug ridden mess that we've come to expect from Bethsoft, but the the atmosphere and gameplay were amazing for their time. Some of it is still unmatched, the way the towns felt populated even though they were just sprites, how the weather subtly changed like fog or snow and the music changed to set the mood.
