  1. I was starting to feel like it was just me. Then there's that option too. Or that.
  2. We found the Brit! Seriously though, I think it's a good idea too...more herbalism would be good, and teas with different effects fit well.
  3. Why did you wait? This should have gone IN 1.20, not 1.21 I used the boat mod when I briefly played 1.98 and it had better mechanics (speed from wind, auto sailing, could walk around on it), even if the new vanilla boat is way cooler. I think it (the mod) was decently fast, not to mention as someone with a fair amount of sailing experience (it was my late father-in-laws passion) I would enjoy a tad bit more realism in the sailing mechanics. The mod proved it was possible.
  4. Yeah, I really like that idea too.
  5. It sounds good in theory, but then the problem becomes when you want to relocate said gear. I don't like punitive mechanics (like once you place something you lose it) because they stifle creativity and are very unforgiving if you make a mistake. It makes it even more important to plan everything out in advance, and as someone who is already prone to go overboard, it would it burns me out because I'd spend all my time in creative mode working out designs for survival that I would never have time to implement. Also because of the material costs in this particular game, I have never ever been able to place a gear and not have to reposition it several times as the game progressed. I would be absolutely livid if I lost the fat and resin especially The ship at least is moveable by it's very nature. Granted you do need to be more sure of the body of water you plop it down in, since you can't tote it around, but at least you can always dig a canal.
  6. Well one thing that does make it more complicated in all fairness, is the way the game does somewhat intelligently try not to mix the same items with different spoil timers into the same stack. Most of the time it does a fairly good job of this, except when I am out of empty slots on a long hunting trip and I would rather it mix the items instead of refuse to pick them up at all. Even more bizarre is how it will refuse to stack fat, which doesn't even have a spoil time.
  7. Maybe if it didn't cost a single ingot to make a tool I might be inclined to complain about not being able to repair them, but in the current state I couldn't be bothered. Yes, it's unrealistic that tools break so fast, but I agree with the others; it's a needed resource sink.
  8. That is what I feel is the real problem; trying to keep an empty slot while the game fights you at every turn. We should just have a permanent empty hand slot (and it should be extra not sacrifice a slot) or something.
  9. I must be the exception, the older I get, the less patience I have, and you can't get any more old school than Pong. Time seems to pass faster and faster the older I get, which might explain my diminishing patience. I frequently say "Oh like a couple weeks ago blah, blah, blah" and my wife will correct me with "No dear, that was 6 months ago"
  10. This is still really bad, especially since the holidays are when a lot of people have the time and inclination to buy new games. The only tip I can give is try the "other account". You've got a forum account and the account you made the purchase with. I was trying to login with my forum account at first too.
  11. This is incorrect. Maybe it is going from blackguard to hunter, but not from commoner to hunter. I haven't played blackguard, so I don't know if they can 1 shot surface drifters in melee, but other classes cannot. I crunched the numbers at some point for a few tiers, but I've already forgotten other than the surface drifters, and being those are the most common annoyances, that was a deciding factor for me. To me the blackguard movement penalties seem too extreme, especially since I don't find running long distance to be fun, anything that makes it take longer is bad. Even though I play hunter, and I do love my recurve, I still spend a lot of time sword & board. OTOH, I have not done any calculations for the bowtorn or shiver.
  12. The world settings page on the wiki is pretty comprehensive, you can fiddle with a lot of settings after the fact. Although some of the settings won't take effect on an already created Seraph, like HP you need to adjust directly.
  13. The thing about the class recipes is MP you can likely find someone of another class to trade with. SP you don't have that option, so why cut yourself completely out of certain items.
  14. I hardly notice them. The mining sounds worse than it is and the melee it doesn't seem like it amounts to an extra swing either (maybe on the higher tiers), so it's kinda moot.
  15. As you've pointed out It's rather pointless for it to exist. It may not be Earth, but unless it has 5 suns how is it going to have 5 sets of climate bands? Magic? Like I said, any way you slice it, it doesn't make sense. It isn't a sphere for technical reasons, and I get all that about the bending and distortion at the edges and all that, but it isn't like having it wrap again fixes any of that.
  16. 0,0 is only at 45 if you choose a normal start. The player spawn is always 0,0 so if you choose a different temperature, then 0,0 is going to be at a different lattitude. I have set custom world settings and teleported around trying to figure it out and gave up. I do not understand the reasoning behind repeating the bands, nor do I understand why it doesn't seem to be questioned by anyone else around here. I can't come up with a technical reason for it, and any other reason would just be plain stupid.
  17. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php/Smithing Ignite the Forge: Ignite with a torch. Most metals can be worked when they are heated to a temperature above 50% of their melting point. Lead can be smithed at any temperature, iron blooms can be smithed at above 700°C. Granted, you can't believe everything you read on the wiki. Another thing that needs to be fixed I think is the speed. Like if I am heating the copper & tin way over the required temperature, I expect them to melt faster. The way it is now seems really flaky to me.
  18. Oh, I have come out in the morning to drifter moshpit in my dry moat. They will aggro each other with rocks and it is fun to just watch.
  19. It very well may be a mod. I run with nearly 70 and almost all of them I consider QOL mods. It's really too early in the games lifecycle for content mods for me.
  20. Well just because there is a mod for something doesn't mean it isn't worthy of inclusion in the base game. Some things should remain mods (or at least optional) and some things really should be in the base game when time permits. This really should be base game; fuels that produce enough heat should be useable for whatever. I wish the bread oven would take other fuels too. Do I think Tyrion should drop what he is doing for this? Certainly not, but at some time he should.
  21. Yeah, maybe it got a balance pass, because durability on leather seems fine to me. Also once you have your backpacks, not much else to use leather for, so I don't care how much I go through in repairs at that point. It's the best armor for just dicking around in since it has no penalties. Flax is too precious to me for too long, I'm more likely to have iron or steel before I make my first gambeson, although I will still always make a blue tailored set, and it sees a lot of use as well. The metal armor I'll carry if I plan on finding trouble, but I'll still go out dressed in the gambeson. Unlike the rest of you, I'll use the crap improvised until I get better, but that is usually leather.
  22. It would take some reworking as the way it is now, you always spawn at 0, 0 so the climate bands are actually shifted North or South to accomodate your selection. Obviously this won't work for MP.
  23. Yes, it's sylvite. It you can make HQ into Terra Petra but it is inferior to the compost recipe TP. I do not know how it is affected over long term, but if you find a supply it is a nice alternative.
  24. They would be if the map wasn't nearly infinite. True, I wouldn't call charcoal precious, that is a little dramatic. When I start bulking steel the charcoal can feel like a non-renewable resource too, trees take a long time to grow, and there's another piece of work; need to go shear leaves for saplings to remain sustainable or travel ever further for timber. Trees are either everywhere and in your way or there are none for miles around. I think op's point is we should have more options.
  25. Well we were discussing both, it's still worth knowing since it seems the likelihood of things being changed in this game to be inline with reality tend to be high. I forgot workable temperature is half smelting in the game.
