  1. I wouldn't call you those things. Sorry, I was told by another veteran player that a 2x1 would guarantee your safety from them. I trusted them. But in a sense, providing the chance for a drifter to spawn in your hitbox does not remove the greater challenge to overcome the storm. The challenge to overcome is to survive the temporal storm. Did you overcome it? The answers are yes or no. If it's no, then it was still a challenge for you to overcome. And then, maybe you could have had better armor? IDK. I like the possibility it could happen.
  2. Would it matter to you what world settings I try the mod in?
  3. I think Arcane Gunslinger's message is fair and logical. Could certainly still be a teaching moment.
  4. In my experience, it is actually suggested by forum staff to report a comment when it addresses someone's behavior in that way. It's what we're supposed to do, instead of addressing the behavior.
  5. Sorry, were you offended by my post or question? I didn't mean to cause any profane thoughts. Just wanting some insight to the experiment you guys had with the mod and having some fun. Yeah, I'll respect your desire to back out. But I'd love to continue the discussion about how maybe it could be made more interesting than just clicking a bunch, if you wanted to.
  6. Sounds like....temporal storms are dangerous. Aren't they supposed to be dangerous? I'm new, and I know it is possible to lock yourself in a 2x1 hole during a temporal storm to stay safe from the danger. One reason I totally love this game is because I'm reading about veteran players complain about the challenge. That is a good uncompromising wilderness survival game. "Well it's unfair" Yeah it's uncompromising that's what you bought! I got struck dead by lightning and was satisfied that I was delivered the game I was sold on.
  7. Man, the assessment of my character is so heavy, but the hard logic is lacking. Why are you attacking my character so hard Shotai? How can we deescalate the situation and try to reason with intellectual discussion without the personal attacks? Maybe you're right I've acted like a snot nosed brat (what colorful language to paint me as a snot nosed brat! Why are you calling people on the forum snot nosed brats? Is that allowed?). But if I have been, then more people should act like snot nosed brats. Because apparently it's the snot nosed brats who are logical and fair in this forum. Y'know, us snot nosed brats can just as easily say you're the one whose ego is doing the talking. But I wouldn't do that, because I don't know you. But you have to assume a false superior knowledge in order to attack my character. It doesn't work on me. And of course it is your responsibility to address my arguments in a satisfactory manner! You ought to do something other than assess my character! Let's try to be friends and talk about what Hytale was before it was cancelled.
  8. Sorry, I'm confused. It actually seems you haven't. What does it mean to "hide behind a Ben Shapiro act"? And did someone imply it was going to help anybody but myself? Or why did you bring that part up? I'm confused, sorry. Or, I seem not! hellbent on reasurring myself that I'm right and everyone else must be wrong. But you seem hellbent on asserting it. I think what you are doing is very unfair. You are coating your messages with "it seems", so you can pull them out of your back pocket like grains of sand. It's easy to attack someone with "it seems", and especially without backing it up. Just, "it seems". Huh, that's convenient. I can just as easily say it seems the opposite. Now what? Or probably not. Now what? See, you establish probability with......nothing. So you are establishing that it is fair for me to do the same. Calm down. You don't know what I'm reading and not reading. What are you at my house now? It's very suspicious and convenient that you are placing yourself at my house in order to attack my character. Or, it always seems the opposite. Gee, I'd rather be wolfbaited than slandered so cheaply.
  9. How about this argument? The main one I had for you: So do you agree it is obvious? That is, was obvious to me? See, traugdor said the game should make it obvious to new players. And I'm saying it was obvious to me, a new player. Do you agree with me that it is obvious to some players? But also, just because something is obvious to me, does not necessarily mean it won't be obvious to someone else. Where do you get that logic? "It was obvious to Rudometkin, therefore, there necessarily will be another player who will not find it obvious". What? I sense more twilight zone. I don't understand how you got there. Effective for what? Effective is "having an effect". My behavior is not having an effect? But you said my behavior is "probably why OP left the conversation to begin with". That would be an effect my behavior had on the OP. But you said it's not effective. You seem to be contradicting yourself and it is very confusing! How can you think I'm openly mocking anything you have to say, when you don't even think I have read everything you said? This reveals your exaggeration. How much of your assessment of my character has been mere exaggeration on your end? How about we be fair with each other and get along in a friendly manner? Sigh. Guys, I don't know how much more forum exploring I can do at this rate. I keep running into ruins and very minimal traders.
  10. I don't think that's a fair assessment of me. Why have you not addressed either of my main arguments? It's like you're only interested in making an assessment of my character. Like an ad hominem fallacy. Well gee wilikers, no wonder you haven't addressed the arguments. You don't see em!
  11. 100% yes. The game should make it obvious for a first-time player 1) that there even IS a handbook 2) how to use it This is wild to me. It's 100% the game's fault that people don't read. Did I fall into a rift? I feel like I'm in the twilight zone. It is obvious. It was for me. As soon as I spawned, it was right there on my screen, saying to press a key to open the handbook. Is the handbook supposed to slap the player in the face? If it becomes that obvious, it better deal damage.
  12. @Shotai All I did was show the logical conclusion that being thrown to a pack of wolves can be learning curve, by your own definition. Your definition says it can be part of the learning curve. This is far too assumptive and simplistic to be generally accurate. Of course you can learn by being thrown into a pool and drowning. But also, the game is not even guaranteeing you will drown. So you are adding the "drowning" part, and judging the game by a part you are adding. That's my take
  13. It's immersive when it's about a world where that actually happens! So you want a predictable enemy. (I'm not saying that in a bad way). I personally don't think it's an improvement, but I think a real improvement could be to make it a toggle option in the world creation settings as a compromise.
  14. It might just be due to having so many ambitions to work toward, the trees are taking the backseat. I can imagine they would love to have more dynamic tree growth. I like the idea!
  15. Must be a Vintage History thing. I tease, some people have different styles and like to stand out more in their writing. That's okay.
  16. Yes but surviving the wolf is the nuance you understand through learning. .....Guys, can I say it without being wolfbaited? Eh, I don't care. .....Learning curve.
  17. Okay, how did it suck? I'm just curious. Like what were the details of your experience with the farming? "Hey, Thorfinn, you're the farmer for this season. We're counting on you." *Come winter time* "Where's all the food?!" "Thorfinn let the crops die. Yeah, he screamed, "YOLO!" and then hopped in a raft to see what seashells he could collect from another continent. He said anything would've been better than being chained up in that meddling garden." "WTF" Whole tribe dies of starvation Thorfinn comes back with seashells Where did everybody go
  18. This is fair, and yes it is important that we understand what each other are meaning. But on the other hand, what is also important (most people don't look this deep into it), there is a particular atmosphere we create (whether intentionally or unintentionally) when we say things like we "don't want Vintage Story to be a farming simulator". It creates the illusion that Vintage Story is not actually a farming simulator. This works in the favor of people who don't want farming updates. This is why I proclaim Vintage Story is a farming simulator - by simulating farming. To clarify any illusion that may arise. And you had totally good intentions, but that verbiage leads to people (perhaps unintentionally) using it to dismiss the idea, which could lead to it not being added into the game. I'm just suggesting, this is why words matter. And what you said is fair enough. But also what I said is fair. I promise I don't correct you to be petty. Communication is a game of chess, and I'm trying to play some right moves to make sure this farming suggestion is given a fair chance, while also not coming off as a rude guy. Yeah I agree, totally.
  19. Well I'd like to see everything that's in real life and more. I suppose I'd rather have a bunch of wildlife that doesn't have any special drops yet, then wait for one at a time and have them useful right away. Like if Anego Studios had someone just making animal models and behaviors all day, and every update came with several new animals and insects, I'd be fine with a lag on animals getting more uses and special drops. I bring that up because I suspect that's one reason that it takes longer to implement animals.
  20. I agree. I think I'd actually be fine with traditional skill points, too.
  21. I'm back from a break, and I'm 29 hours into my world now. ........... I have since learned how to deal with wolves and bears. It turns out the left [Ctrl] key is highly effective against them...
  22. I've spent over 29 hours in my first world (wilderness survival) and am still in the stone age. (I keep getting yeeted around the map to start over) The entire experience is perfectly enjoyable and fine to me. If anything, I would like to see it become more complex on the difficult side. I'm in it for the journey. The greater the challenge, the sweeter the victory. However, I would be supportive of some well-implemented solutions to your issue. In this area though, I feel too uneducated, or at least 'under-thought' to determine what would be "well-implemented" in this case, personally. But perhaps if only one age should be "grindy", it is the stone age.
  23. There are 37 tracks??? Yes!!!! I love the VS music! I suppose I've been stuck in the noob area of the game, so I've only heard many of the basic tracks. I keep my music level at 20% (allows for talking while recording) and haven't noticed any volume issues with the few tracks I have heard.
  24. I don't think it's getting wild, but posting some Tom and Jerry tomfoolery certainly escalates and makes it look like it is. I think we can all maintain a relevant and mature discussion from here. At the very least, I think Hytale fans will come to this thread and say, "Man, these VS folks certainly are an interesting bunch! Maybe I ought to join and check it out"
  25. 6 months ago I would have argued MC is a survival game. But now I don't care, MC can do what it wants. I have VS now
