  1. Revisiting the original question - What do I want after the 1.21 update? The 1.22 update.
  2. Yes. I believe 5 bonemeal gives the max benefit and while more bonemeal can be applied to the block, the applications beyond 5 have no effect. Although it would be interesting if applying 7 or more caused increasing chemical burn to the plants.
  3. No sweat. We're a pretty forgiving lot in this community.
  4. My take on your comments? Hallucinations don't make the rest of the world comport with one's perceptions of the world around them. Oh yeah, that bear may look like he's hugging you, you may even feel him hugging you; but that nice little congratulatory screen will tell a different story.
  5. Those comments were made before I had as good an understanding of lattitude in the game. If a cool start is located beyond 55 degrees, then cattails are going to be almost non-existent. 50-55? Rarer than 45-50, but should exist; maybe not as dense as below 50 degrees. But that doesn't mean Tyron has the same opinion. As I've always said, there's trade offs between reality and the game so the game isn't a real life simulator.
  6. In my experience most of the refernces to MC are some variation of "MC does it this way, why doesn't VS?"
  7. There isn't a tiaga biome. Biomes are a multi-layered generation system that considers local rainfall, lattitude and even altitude as it's primary factors. By tiaga, do you mean a cold start? If so, the cold, polar start is intended to be a very difficult start because IRL life above the 55th parallel is very difficult. Do you know how small a portion of the world's population live above the 55 degrees lattitude? It's staggering!
  8. The older community members here tends to discourage bringing up TOBG because VS is for all practical purposes an entirely different game. It plays TOTALLY differently than the game that inspired Tyron to create VS. To compare VS to TOBG is like comparing Lord of the Rings to Harry Potter, they both have... uh... magic and swords and stuff. OH! AND a bad guy! >rolleyes<
  9. What you propose is basically a cosmetic change only. Putting a spile in a tree still requires one to check for a full bucket. One could argue that the resin appearing on the side of a tree is the spile and bucket without those physical objects showing in game. I do like the idea of a spile and bucket to accumulate sap. It already exists in the Expanded Foods mod. I found it a bit difficult to use, but it's there.
  10. Part of the survival aspect in VS is the grind to get resources. Tyron purposefully keeps resource gathering from being easy or quick. IF Tyron were to put milking pine sap from trees to manufacture resin I'm willing to bet the payoff would be on par with just collecting resin from trees that currently exists. I imagine that not every tree would produce any sap and those that did would produce about the same amount over the course of the same time as currently, but then that sap will need to be cooked to harden it.
  11. I believe that is part of expanded foods mod. And notice I said it would be out of place in vanilla.
  12. I don't have quotes. But I recall Tobias saying something to the effect of...
  13. But the important thing is that you are learning! My late papa always said, "When you're through learning... You're through."
  14. No. Conversation with a certain 2nd story character very much indicates Seraphs were one of the desired outcomes.
  15. Indeed! @Nirvana The tweaks you are proposing (in the botanist and potter classes) are exactly the kind of thing you are complaining about and do not accomplish your stated desire. Allowing a potter a faster speed at digging clay (that's the blackguard mining benefit that already exists). A special ability to insta-craft one particular clay item? meh. But that is similar to the class specific item crafting (various items tailors can craft). BTW that last one is wiped out when the class specific recipes are unchecked during world gen, so this doesn't really change single player experience. You want something that changes playstyle? Hunter and Blackguard. As a hunter I can easily wear steel chain armor with little impact to my ranged accuracy for longer ranges. Try that with a blackguard? You'll miss much more often than you hit, even at close range. And that is based on existing class differences.
  16. Little if any, imo. There could be an update with new weapons sometime in the future. The ruined weapons found in ruins indicate they might be able to be repaired like the Forlorn Hope and Blackguard armors. But that is my speculation on the matter.
  17. You mean some kind of farm like TOBG? A passive/bulk way of collecting resin would be out of place in the vanilla game. As for what I want? Hmmm... Alternative mechanical power generation. But it seems that watermills are dependent on rivers coming to vanilla which may be a while as the vision for rivers is for actual water flow. That last bit (flowing water) seems to be the hard bit that I suspect Tyron is working on.
  18. I always thought it meant Thorfinn Overeating Bug Guts myself. Yes. He became frustrated with that project so started VS.
  19. Alchemy is no longer on the roadmap. It's been replaced with herbalism/brewing. It could just be a renaming of what they had in mind originally. OTOH it could be a rethinking of what they want the game to do. It seems to me that the change is to envision more of a medicinal mechanic than a mystical chemistry one. Given that the alcohol bandages came out a number of releases after poultices did, I would anticipate/theorize/speculate that this mechanic will be using different herbs (flowers and/or mushrooms) with different kinds of spirits to create different healing effects, especially considering the change to healing coming in 1.21. Perhaps we'll see a weak long lasting poultice with ingredient set 1 while ingredient set 2 produces a stronger but short lived healing. I hope that other effects could be created. Such as low light vision (similar to the night vision goggles) or strength tincture to increase jump height and damage from melee weapons.
  20. I believe Tyron started work on VS in 2016. There's numerous block/cube games out there besides VS and VS various mechanics are so dissimilar to minecraft that VS is a much different game. Mojang/Microsuck lawsuit would be about like Ultima Online suing World of Warcraft because they're both online mmorpg.
  21. I've had similar experience.
  22. Maelstrom

    Fog issue

I've had times where my forge at about y=200 is barely lit despite lanterns hanging on the walls and NO fog to be seen. Hopefully Tyron can get this dialed in quicker than the new mobs.
  23. A crop's yield drops according to how long that crop has been exposed to extreme temperatures. While the first instance (stunted) happens as soon as the temp exceeds the crop's tolerance, the yield doesn't drop to 75% until it spends a total of 24 hours in that extreme temperature. Other more technical players can confirm or correct as necessary. Another 24 hours will drop the yield to 50% and so on until the plant just dies completely.
  24. A few weeks usually. These pre-releases are for modders to update their mods while the dev team works on bug squashing and issue mashing.
  25. Good one! Although you're too days late for Father's day joke. But I'll take it anyways.
