  1. Feeding animals is necessary for only two things - increasing their weight before slaughter to increase drops or to induce mating. otherwise animals in VS are amazing critters that will find food to stave off starvation even if they are enclosed in a completely stone enclosure.
  2. Death is enough aggravation for me plus not a lot of playing time means I invoke the sticky inventory ritual upon world creation. Solves all of these problems nicely. Thank you for attending my TobiasTalk, I'll just wander off the stage now...
  3. Either be exceedingly and excruciatingly careful if your firepit is next to wood (there's a reason why fireplaces have inflammable hearths IRL), or use stone for the block next to your firepit.
  4. Automatin pulverizers is easier than querns! A hopper below the block the pulverizer dumps the output on. Then a block or slab on the 3 remaining caridinal blocks from the space the output is dumped on.
  5. Kinda like when you put a stick in the quern output spot and ground items poop out one of the sides? Or the pulverizer? I am sure that collection of finished ingots will not be a problem. I'm more worried about the chute on top of the anvil working correctly.
  6. My last RA run was practically a miracle that I found it. Extreme terrain hid the gates to the depths unless you were practically on top of it. I'll have to post some screenshots next time I play.
  7. True. Won't be hard with steel. A quad hammer with four full rotors at maximum altitude would be pounding out an ingot every 5 seconds or so. It could easily go through a stack of blister steel before the temp drops more than 100 degrees. Iron would be a different story since they require a lot more work. Probably would have to keep that down to 16 max if I were to estimate things.
  8. Honestly, I haven't played in over a month, closer to two. About the Saga of Bonnie and Clyde, they are not your normal drifters. They do not respond to you (thus why I fired the lazy sod), nor can you interact with them; even violently so. They also do not despawn if you go on a world tour. @LadyWYT Waaaaayyyyy back in 1.15 and I think 1.16 I watched rams climb the ladder I placed to escape from their murderous charge after me into the pen I had created. Cotton pickin' bugger climbed up that four tall ladder almost as fast I did to continue his revenge for chucking a pebble at him to get his attention. All I was tryin' to do was get him to a safe place, away from wolves where I could feed him and keep him safe until it came time to cull the local population of big horn sheep I rasied.
  9. The negative time from that mod indicates the anticipated growth cycle should have completed that much time in the past. But, RNG.
  10. It's about time you got here. Slacker.
  11. Unfortunately, yes. That fight should happen at the top of the tower.
  12. When it clogs up the forums? Yeah, I do. It's one of the bigger reasons why I'm not posting as much as I was.
  13. Now THAT is some seriously radioactive dookie!
  14. I've wondered (but never tested) whether a chute can put a bloom on the anvil then placing hoppers around the anvil would more fully automate smithing iron ingots (or steel ones for that matter). Might have to finally test this theory. When I get some time. Next year.
  15. Welp. I got a few minutes before the whistle blows...
  16. Except that abomination of pineapple on pizza. Pineapple and anchovies desecrate the holiness known as 'ZA!
  17. Care to share those screenshots?
  18. Either way I'm glad "I'm" a seraph and didn't go through whatever hell happened to the bowtorns to make them bowtorns.
  19. Nah mate. It's human nature to cheese things. We do it in real life too. They're called life hacks.
  20. @ImHereToProcrastinate welcome to VS and the forums! Love the name too! I hope you don't mind if I kinda snoozed a bit during your tedtalk. I seem to recall seeing a comment or hearing a statement from Tyron (maybe even one of the other devs, like Radfast or Redram) indicating water mechanics were a difficulty but considering a requirement for waterwheels would be a small region of space required before a waterwheel would produce power to prevent place a small pond big enough to wet the waterwheel and get power.
  21. There's a mod that will publish the combined explorations of everyone on a website. Additionally, there's a mod that shares prospecting and waypoints on others maps.
  22. That sounds like the bug that was reported as fixed. Rift activity should change no longer than 2-3 in game days; and those times are on the rare side as well. I think I've only encountered that long of a span once or twice since rift activity was introduced late in the 1.15 update cycle.
  23. I don't pay too close attention to this as I play with map and minimap. I have hopeless orienteering skills in game.
  24. Orienteering in vanilla - hopefully it's obvious that clouds travel west to east. Knapped tools ALWAYS face the same direction, like saaaaayyy the flint spear head I believe points north; regardless of the way one is facing when placing the knappable rock.
  25. Everyone's opinion doesn't really matter. The devs have stated they intend end game technology to end at steam power. The electicity that most want is an industrial use of electricity which didn't come along until the 19th century, far further in the future than the devs have planned for VS.
