  1. That's if you play speed run style like @Thorfinn
  2. I like them just blinking into existence. It's much Lovecraftian love there, imo. Lovecraft's characters had to be alert, perceptive and have their head on a swivel to survive.
  3. Indeed Lovecrafts stories about the psychological horror of things on earth. But all those things causing the psychological horror originated from another dimension and, usually, were on earth for a while before discovery. Sometimes a human is the conduit of the psychological horror's presence on earth. Lovecraft, like you said, hints at or describes things obliquely leaving our imagination to fill in the details of that thing, being or whatnot. Exactly my thoughts as well. One major trope of Mr. Lovecraft is that the people that go insane are the ones that clean up the mess. Hopefully, we seraphs, don't go insane cleaning up Mr. Falx's mess.
  4. That feels about right to me since this isn't TOBG.
  5. Oooohhh. If you want 0.0.0 to be the exact center of the map? A few things of various levels of sarcasm go through my mind, but they all are of the, "not possible" response.
  6. That won't happen in winter (as the OP posited in the opening post) when the ground is covered in snow though. 1. there won't be any thunderstorms. 2. IF there were, the snow would prevent a fire in the first place.
  7. Hmmmmm..... I think you can do that this way. Set the world size to 50,000 (but that will also be east/west borders as well). Travel to the equater (there's a command [/wg lat pos] I think) to determine how far north/south you are from the equator. Someone else with more experience may have a better idea how to accomplish what you want.
  8. I think you misunderstood the post. He/she wasn't looking for a high reading, but the highEST reading in the area. To your point - yes ores can be found at lower than high, very high or ultra high results. But hunting for those will lead to a higher density of ores. I've found TWO overlapping iron deposits in an ultra high reading that were maybe 1,000 blocks from my home. I'll take that over hunting for two separate iron deposits of decent level reading that are collectively separated by thousands of blocks from each other and my home.
  9. Look carefully and you'll see that you are looking at two different prospecting results. Compare the coordinates to see precisely which result you are looking at.
  10. It seems to be a difficult problem to figure out. Having some experience in coding I know how difficult it can be to fix a problem. The problem is slightly better in 1.20.11 (which has some side benefits, especially regarding map loading speed) as the problem isn't any worse. I believe temporal storms aren't as problematic after 1.20.7.
  11. Not just probably. Definitely. Thus MicroSUCK
  12. I get that from time to time (usually after doing something kinda questionable with downloading a mod while the game is open). Just quit the game, reload and all will be fine.
  13. I did once. Just because chalk, limestone and borax were nowhere to be seen by the time I had enough hides to make backpacks.
  14. Have you seen those youtube videos were insanely HUGE buildings are created? Well, thems aren't valid rooms and if you put animals in them, they'll despawn when owners don't want them too. Again, think through the implications. How hard is it to simply put a single light in the room? Even one single oil lamp will do the trick.
  15. I know that sound. Definitely a death tolling if not properly equipped or ready for it.
  16. I know what you mean. I'm in the same situation with work, kids, chores, my own schooling and on and on and on. Heck I can lose track of what I was in the middle of after just a couple of days. Until such journals are included, you could do the old MC thing of placing signs with writing on them to remind you what you were about when last you left. HEY! Stop throwing things! I was being facetious.
  17. Welp... Consider that the story of the game is inspired by Lovecraft. And of all of his stories I only know of 2 instances where characters go into another dimension, and both of them are dream worlds while the bad stuff that happens come from alternate dimensions and causes havoc on some location of earth. The devs are doing an absolutely amazing job of portraying Lovecraft in video game format. So good that I'd swear Lovecraft himself is at least consulting on this project. That said I would be dumbfoundedly shocked if the devs ever design travel to other dimensions into this game. Read some Lovecraft (can be found online for free since it's public domain now) to get a better feel for the game. I have found my appreciation for the game has grown immensely from doing so myself.
  18. I just don't understand why sleeping is so important. There's just too much to be done. Even after I've created my quad hammer, dual or quad steel furnaces, have steel armor, I just don't have enough time to sleep. There's always at least a few items on the to-do list that precludes sleep.
  19. You can! Break out your chisel and collect the various types of materials that produce the color and texture you'd like in your shutters.
  20. So animals don't despawn unless killed? Now you're going to have a crap ton of rabbits, raccoons, foxes running around in the bottom of caves reducing performance. Then there'll be a crap ton of complaints on the forum about poor performance. Think through the implications of things.
  21. Ummmm.... ok? Considering the clay becomes hardened/baked in the sun means that it's as resuable as much as a broken coffee mug. Additionally, you only get a small portion of the 16 reeds back when a skep is broken. The current mechanic makes a lot of sense... to me.
  22. Not sure. Devs have steam power and powered rail travel on the road map. Blast furnace might not be out of the question. Would also make a massive charcoal oven more attractive, especially with recent updates to allow doors for a multi-block charcoal pit to be built.
  23. You can apply your thanks on the comment your thankful for by hovering over the white heart in the bottom right of the comment you're grateful for. Select the purple trophy icon labelled as "Thanks"
  24. Here's how traders work. You can sell as many items as you want to the trader in the right side (limited by your supply of those items), BUT the trader is limited by the gears he has to buy with. He would buy 23 items at 1 gear a piece or 2 items at 10 gears a piece. He will keep buying as long as he has gears. He has a limited supply of items on the left (just like you have a limited supply of knives and scythes) that will be restocked; in this case the trader will restock HIS supply in 6 days (as noted above the left hand box of goods).
  25. That applies to all the other molds as well. Well, except for black mold. You were lucky to survive it the first time, don't go messing with black mold a second time.
