  1. Had you already updated to 1.20.5? It does sound like your pacman-style searching would have found them though. My thought [eta: assuming you're on 1.20.4] is that the floor of the trader caravan may function differently than other surfaces we're used to, and 'maybe' the items could have settled on the ground below the trader or even within the ground below the trader (due to the settling-into-the-ground bug). If that is the case, it would take being in no-clip fly mode to find them.
  2. If they had fallen on the floor, could the pre-1.20.5 version bug of items sinking into the ground have made it seem like they weren't there? (I didn't see mention on whether you'd updated to the latest version which fixed that bug)
  3. Chalk! That is great news indeed.

    I messed up.

Ouch! Welcome to the forum, Rosadon.
  5. I didn't know about mushrooms not burning!
  6. That is the method used by at least one youtuber -- I think it is GGBeyond, but not certain.
  7. There is a folder named "special" within schematics which did not exist in 1.19. It contains one file with a suspiciously interesting name. eta: oops! Should have said within schematics \ surface
  8. I don't know the answer to your question, but I'm curious to hear the progress of your quest. [deleted] p.s. I have an amusing mental image of your journey westward with a different rock type running parallel to your path, but just out of sight. pps: I enjoy your writing style
  9. Hypi was killed in a boating accident a few months ago. Her sweet spirit and creativity is sorely missed.
  10. Thanks.
  11. What does ABC stand for?
  12. Hmmm. I haven't played in quite some time. New world, 1.20.4 - my first translocator repair and it doesn't teleport me anywhere, just as Never Jhonsen describes for their Rickety Translocator. I came here to see if the process for repairing translocators had changed, but maybe this is a bug? eta: Yeah, definitely a bug. Logged out, came back and it was fine. Same thing happened with the return trip translocator - wouldn't teleport me until I exited the game and came back.
  13. Good point, @Thorfinn. Geez, got the best start just now. Surface tin right by spawn and a gorgeous lava-fall not very far away. More reeds than I know what to do with and bunches of flax. Stumbled across a dungeon with 2 torch holders, 2 pots, 4 bowls, a storage vessel and a few crates. How's that for a lucky first day?!
  14. @Nedrakus In your earlier post, you mention the benefits of fruit for rehydration. Personally, I see the overuse of fruit pies and fruit juices to have a negative effect on hydration as it results in diarrhea (irl). I know this is just a game but those kinds of oversights are off-putting to me. Perhaps there is some way for them to have a positive effect in small amounts (as part of a balanced diet), while having a hugely negative effect when relying on them as a main food source. Maybe no one else would be thinking along these lines though.
  15. This is an interesting idea. I'm not sure how to implement it in a way that wouldn't become tedious, but we do already have foods that include liquids (as you've mentioned). I would think grains would be neutral, but salted meat or pickles are likely candidates for having a negative effect.
  16. I like that suggestion. Something I'd not thought of until you mentioned it. As for the reeds, players used to start off with some bread (x8?) and a torch or a knife (I can't remember). I really disliked it when it was taken away but quickly found that it was no big deal. If there is to be some extra goodies given at start, let it be a configuration option when starting a new world. The more timid new players (like myself) would probably appreciate an option like that. Btw, the 'tedium of needing 64 reeds' at the start is player imposed. There is nothing requiring all handbaskets + a reed basket on Day 1.
  17. I see that you already found the issue tracker forum and posted this there. You might want to include a comment about whether or not you ever had any mods installed for the world that is having this problem. Also, if you did have mods and then removed them, did you also remove their config files which are in a different folder? (I don't know anything about it, but I'm thinking of an accessibility mod that I use which does have an option for removing clouds... and wondering what happens if someone starts a world using that config setting and then later disable the mod without removing the config file)

    Why bother

I've never played on wilderness setting and I wonder if you've discovered a bug since you spawned in at night (which is so rare that none of us long-time players have experienced it or seen it in any playthroughs, or ever heard of it happening in a single player world). It may be worthwhile posting in the issue tracker to let them know what happened. If it is not a bug, then I'm sure they'd let you know. eta: and if it isn't a bug, please let us know too. I'd be very interested to know.

    Why bother

Wasn't there a fairly recent change that stops time during character creation? I've been taking all kinds of time customizing my character, although it could be a case of 'ignorance is bliss'... not to mention that I make liberal use of all scaredy cat customization options. But i do think there was a change made to allow time for setting up your character without getting killed.

    crocks

This sounds like something that needs to be reported: https://github.com/anegostudios/VintageStory-Issues/issues Good job noticing what was happening!
  21. Hoe the side of the block of the mature crop and it becomes farmland. Then harvest the crop for the higher crop drop rate of farmland vs untilled soil. I hadn't heard of the glitch you've mentioned so not sure if that one is still active.
  22. Can confirm it is in the latest version, at least for flax. (hopes none of the Powers That Be are listening)
  23. Did you know that some things will cause you to get hungry faster, like carrying a torch in your off-hand? You probably already know that cooked food gives the most benefit; prioritizing a cooking pot and eating bowl makes a big difference in how well those wild food sources will keep you satiated. I enjoy watching youtubers play and have noticed that berries are often the focus before getting a farm setup. These are some easy-access foods that are often overlooked: cattail & papyrus roots, bamboo shoots, raw fish (assuming that is still a thing in 1.19), termites, cactus fruit, and non-poisonous mushrooms. There is also a setting to adjust hunger rate when starting a new world. Best of luck!
  24. @Thorfinn Just switched to a Logitech mouse and both problems are gone. Scrolling is normal in inventory, and also enlarging map (had been using a Microsoft mouse, both new as of a few months ago). I'm curious to know if you happen to be using a Microsoft mouse too?
  25. Okay, that makes me feel a little better. Thank you for the info.
