  1. If this is possible, they have to add eels to the game. Don't blame me, I don't make the rules.
  2. There are a few very standard map markers I use constantly, stuff like surface copper, pro-pick with no minerals found, a couple other things. I would *like* to be able to put those on a hotkey, but it seems like the macro feature only does the / server commands. IS there a way to set a hotkey for map markers, particular craft or placement recipes (I could totally see "place a grass and four firewood and whack it with a torch")? Are there any server commands that you do... often? I mostly just do configuration stuff, once per game world (temporal storms OFF, pro-pick ON, etc.) Is this feature actually useful for something, or does everybody ignore it?
  3. Yep, that mod is because the stuff that drops from vessels is.. not great, but traders will pay a fair lot of gears for them. So most people would *rather* have the pot than the contents. (Personally I like the stuff inside, 'cos it's the only way I have ever found soy or pumpkin seeds.)
  4. Lava tourism, of course!
  5. In my current world, I found a beehive that was so far up in a tree that the ground was out of range! I had to build a dirt platform about four squares in the air and cover THAT with flowers before the bees would deign to notice them. Then I just expanded it to be my apiary, more skeps and flowers and some steps up the side.
  6. Keep in mind that borax also works for leather; while you're running around, pro-pick something now and then and if borax turns up you can take a more detailed look. Gotta have bronze tools to dig it up, but hey, you're pro-picking, you'll probably find the ores to make bronze
  7. Borax in <soft sedimentary rock> is a Tier 3 ore right now, requiring bronze tools. This is not great game design; right now if you've got some poor bastard with a copper pick, and he finds chalk/limestone, he's got leather armor!, but if he hits borax... he's screwed. They're both rare ores, it's purely a matter of luck which one you run into first. The only other use for borax is iron anvil welding, and you already need bronze tools to get the iron for that, so tier 2 vs. tier 3 has no effect on that case. And of course IRL you can literally dig up borax with your bare hands. Mohs hardness 2.

  8. In game, hit TAB to get the chatbox up, type /worldConfig propickNodeSearchRadius [0-12] (4, 6, 8 are the most common numbers), it's documented at https://wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php/World_Configuration ...and then restart the server (the game, if you're doing single-player).
  9. Is there some way to search your world for a particular block type? Surface map won't do. I've poked through an area six by ten thousand blocks failing to find bauxite, and.. I understand "look around," but this is ridiculous. So, either the stuff really is that rare or I've stepped over some, buried. I'd like to know which.
  10. Plant growth gets slower as you go further underground. A greenhouse with the windows at ground level and the plants just a couple of blocks below that won't be a problem, but if you try something like a deeeeeeep shaft with crops at the bottom, you will not be a happy farmer. And, yes, the 7x7x7 is the *space*, it does not include the walls.
  11. I've got a windmill room at the top of my house with my smithing stuff, and it seems that running the axle in through the wall produces a "hole" so in winter I have 125% hunger rate there. I checked by running an axle through the wall of one of my regular rooms, and that breaks the enclosed-space-ness of that too. Is there a way to get power into a room to run helve hammers and such while still being "inside?" Also, lit forges don't count as being warm, lol.
  12. So many kinds of armor and such complicated mechanics around it, but the right way to kill everything is to dig a pit, pull your enemy into it, and spear 'em from above. When would you wear this stuff?
