Well Ilmenite/Titanium is in the game but I don't think the in game tech is at a lvl that we could actually work it into a tool I mean of course they could make something up but I feel like steel is already very strong as it is

I do but I am too scawed to go do story stuff before I got atleast iron armor T.T Edit: doesn't take me more than a year usually though, faster if I rush the armor

Depending on the biome you're in it can be quite a way before encountering different stone types, my current single player world I spawned in a Peridotite biome which doesn't have any sedimentary rock on top either, the closest other rocks I found were Slate 3000 blocks west (also not sedimentary but it did have marbel so that solved the lime issue) and eventually found a small sandstone biome 1000 blocks further west. The second one I found was a limestone biome 5000 blocks south. So yeah if you happen to spawn in a sea of Igneous rock; personally I reccoment just gearing up for a very long walk and trecking on in a single direction for several days until you find it, prospecting on the way of course!

COLD HARDY CROPS FOR WINTER GARDENS/GREENHOUSES
SnapJelly replied to ijkdenem's topic in Suggestions
Perhaps a way to artificially heat up greenhouses with fuel could be cool, it would allow people in cold climates to grow warm climate crops in exchange for regular monitoring- 13 replies

I mean it probably will be, the game isn't even close to being finished yet!

Mine is: anno 1404 It had a warning message every 2 hours to remind you to take a break and they became increasingly passive agressive the longer you played XD I have gotten several that warned me I'd been plaing for 16 hours straight.

COLD HARDY CROPS FOR WINTER GARDENS/GREENHOUSES
SnapJelly replied to ijkdenem's topic in Suggestions
I agree with this, preperation for winter should imo always remain a core focus of the game however for the sake of argument I do wanna play devils advocate and say I do think there are ways this could be implemented to balance things out more. For example you could add the requirement of removing snow from your crop fields to keep them growing, make them grow very very slowly, or simply make their nutritional value much worse than other veggies that are less cold resistant so people are still pushed to try and stock up on those if they can, but have an option for food if they can not. Again, I agree with you but just spitballin some possibilities. Overall though for something like this many aditions to truly work in the best way I think it would require a greater overhaul of the food spawning system in general, making crop spawn more regonal or changing how the seed drops work could all aid in making the player having to plan ahead more to gether specific crop types specifically because they want to have them. But all of that is a different discussion to have for a different day- 13 replies

They should add a random chance for each player to be born with the soap gene and make cilantro do damage instead lol- 13 replies

I'd like all of these additions though maybe something added where wild vegetable spawns are more regional then if there THAT many, going out to try and look for different veggies could be fun!- 13 replies

Hard dissagree, I go for 3 or 4 at least. Making a 2nd tool head literally only takes a minute and you can get tons of iron in a single trip to the mine, I don't understand where this ''risk'' idea comes from, it's just another way to spend the night like so many other thing in game are. I don't understand this, you want to add a tech tree? For what? you can tell the temp by looking at the tooltips top of the screen, else you can just wait until it's very bright glowing. That's how blacksmiths used to to it; by sight Sorry but I don't really see how this applies? The quenching mechanic is a bonus for those who are willing to take the risk of their tool breaking, it's not even required. You say this but in the previous post you complained: ''Not to mention the devs got the temps wrong.'' So is realism desired or not? I haven't seen the devs mention realism much... ''Realism'' is mostly a tag the players put onto the game themselves, the game is full of game mechanics that aren't realistic that no one minds but when new game mechanics are introduced which are likewise not realistic (because the game never tried to be) people complain? Yeah but again this is not about realism, this is about making a game mechanic that works well with the other mechanics already in place, the tool durability is not realistic, the quenching is based off that, not on how much quenching iron in real life affects real iron. Everyone in here complains about the risk... what risk??? Having to make another tool head takes a single minute??? Having to use another singular unit of charcoal to heat up the forge? Wowie, how could I ever recover

Time sure if you just stand there and do nothing, you could easily be forging something else while your first item air-cools Wasting coal though? You only need 1 charge of coal to heat something, you can easily chop down a massive 2x2 oak tree and burn it to get several stacks of coal in 1 day, I don't really thing this is a problem, and again you could still be using that burning coal for something else while you wait. That is very unfortunate but that is the risk you take when you flip a coin The thing is this won't fix your problem... that's the thing with odds is they are random, the odds are already really low but like what happened in your case if the change is a random percentage then there will always be a player at some point in time who is the unluckiest and will have the current longest streak of random breakages, that is how randomness works. You only feel like the odds need to be lowered because you happened to get unlucky, but with lower odds people still get unlucky and feel the same way (or even worse because the odds are lower) You SHOULD use it... most other people do use it with great success, you're only feeling this way currently because you got unlucky ''We'' is subjective here, personally I wouldn't want that either but you can not make that claim for everyone. Also the game isn't striving to be realistic, it's striving to be a: ''uncompromising wilderness survival sandbox game inspired by eldritch horror themes'' People put the realism tag on it themselves but many things about this game aren't realistic, they are game mechanics. Your claim that it is ''high risk'' doesn't really hold up that well considering you can literally dig out tons and tons of iron ore in a single day and still be home before nighfall, the risk is not that high. If it breaks you just make a new one. The reward however? 30% extra durability on my tools is extremely worth it! It has literally always been a hard core survival game, again: ''uncompromising wilderness survival sandbox game'' is the first line on the homepage.

Adjacent carpets have dynamically connected textures

I fully support this! I have encountered other things before in game that don't quite line up well and while not gamebreaking by any means it is a little annoying when you have a cute build in mind but it doesn't add up -
As far as I'm aware monsters can still spawn when it's calm but just much less, so often it feels like it's fully safe. But I am quite sure i've been out before because it was a calm night and felt safe only to suddely hear a bowtorn charging up somewhere.
-
Well the monster AI is a thing that people are aware off could use an upgrade, but personally I find the monsters plenty scary as they are even if I get killed by bears and wolves far more often than I do by shivers

I would love to be able to keep and breed specific fish for food!

But you'll have so little inventory space when relying only on reeds?! It would take ages to get enough wild flax for linen sacks and you can't make leather without barrels either? -

But every time you die you'll go back to spawn no? That seems rough... I find bears a struggle to deal with even when I am using bronze tools already, a brown one just got into my sheep pen and killed all my pregnant sheep so I gotta start over T.T -
What food category would corn belong to in game?
SnapJelly replied to SnapJelly's topic in Discussion
Yeah debatably, it would take a while for the nutrients to come back on their own but at the same time it's not like there is a lack of dirt in the game so you could always just either get more or move your farm over a single block ya know? The crop rotation thing compliments the nutrition system as it works now because it makes you think about which crops to plant next if which areas, since you're going to need different types of crop anyway you might aswell rotate them. -
Yeah that do be true but that's also kinda just how the game works ya know, dirt floats so you can make a dirt house and that would work. The only think stopping you is wanting to make something that purposefully looks nice. Even if it didn't I don't think that would change much, dirt is literally everywhere so having to dig a little more to make your house isn't readlly a big hurdle I think

Generally I'd be against such a thing, It would likely cause people to only ever grow that single crop cuz it fills must every need -

What food category would corn belong to in game?

you have to first catch both a male and a female goat, then you have to wait for the female to get pregnant and have her baby which takes 20 days or 2.2 in game months. Then when the baby is born the female will be lactating for 20 days but for the first generation there is a 95% chance she will reject the milking and attack you instead. However if you do manage to milk her you can milk her for 10 liters every 24 hours, this milk however will only stay good for 8 days so you can not really rely on milk to keep your dairy full unless you have a large quantity of goats that are 3 generations old and are constantly pregnant. So yeah, several months... -

It's interesting to hear about different playstyles like this because for me personally finding enough copper to get the metal age going is a huge highlight! The game really opens up and there's so much fun things to do and explore, every upgrade is an exciting step and I strive to make as many of them in a single playthrough as possible! -

Well the foodgroups in game are not there for realism reasons, they exist for gameplay reasons. Aka they are made to incentivise the player to interact with the different mechanics in the game. Dairy for example isn't a food group because nurtitionally cheese is something a person needs, but because the way to get it requires a lot of setup, which makes it lend itself as a late-game food automatically. If cheese didn't have a seperate foodgroup but required the same effort to make there won't be very much reason for the player to even attempt it, but because it is a foodgroup players are pushed to go find salt, catch and breed animals, pickle vegetables, keep bees for wax, get plenty of linen, set up rooms for ripening bla bla bla you get my point
