  1. Yeah this would be my choice as well, I should've allowed for multiple choices in the poll mb
  2. I agree that wattle and daub is too hard to make for what it's worth but that's imo mostly just because rammed earth exists in game and that looks pretty similar and is much easier to make. If not for rammed earth I think wattle and daub would be a far more polular early game block choice for people to make houses out off but yeah as it is it's really only for those that happen to specifically want to play around with it. A little sad because irl wattle and daub is actually a relatively quick and easy way of making walls!
  3. I also don't think the list of grains is that saturated tbh man, there's 7 grains in game and 4 of them are limited to warm climates For comparison there are 10 types of berry and 11 types of tree fruit + pineapples and cactus fruit for a total of 23 fruits currently Edit: and honey also counts as fruit!
  4. Well cassava is already in game and that's also a new world crop
  5. Well if the area is truly unstable it should've been unstable from the start, If it wasn't unstable at first but is now then whatever is making it unstable will go away in time as well.
  6. For context: 1) Botanically speaking corn is a fruit 2) In modern day people mostly treat and eat it as a vegetable 3) Historically corn was mostly treated as a grain (and still a bit today for things like cornbread and corn chips etc) So if corn is added as a crop in game, what nutrition type do you think it should add?

I think so too, vintage story is imo EXTREMELY good at balancing the effort it takes to get something with the benefit it provides. The only thing I can think of in game that to me seems unbalanced in how hard it is to get is salt, but there have been plenty of talks about that in here already

I mean running is very fast if you can go in a straight line, but that's kinda the point. if wherever you're going to is easy to get to you'll be there in a flash just by sprinting so no need to glide. I personally criticise something like a glider because it would allow to to go over mountains, forests, and lakes in 1 fell swoop, things you would otherwise have to walk around, or traverse with difficulty or spend time making an easily traversable path through. A glider would make you be able to bypass these things that are (to me atleast) core parts of the gameplay, exporing and navigating the world is how the game is played.

Sure but that's the game though? If you don't want to interact with the navigational parts of the game why not just teleport? No one is trying to control anything, we're just pointing out that such an addition would have as a consequence that a very large part of the gameplay would be completely skipped if it was added. And the ''just don't use it'' part isn't really a good argument imo, you're asking people to not use gamefeatures if favor of wanting to interact with other game features? That's not good game design, games features should compliment eachother not bypass them. this is again a gamedesign choice to guide the player to interact with the mechanics of the game, yes in reality you wouldn't break several axes in a lifetime but if that was the case in game the crafting mechanic would largely be obsolete, the knapping mechanic would only be used a single time for each tool, you would only have to forge a blade 1 time. If that's the case why have crafting toold be a game mechanic at all? Just go the stardew valley way and start with the tools you need. It's also not realistic for a single person to find a massive iron mine all by themselves and go down there and come back out after a single day with tons and tons of raw iron in his bakc pocket to smelt into ingots in a couple minutes flat, but since this is how the game works it stands to reason for the rest of the gameplay to guide the player towards going back down there to gather more resources, hence the durability.

I don't agree with that conclusion, it would turn traveling to your salt, lime, bauxite or any other deposit you have from a complex navigational challenge to just going in a straight line
  11. yeah technically this is true but technically planks arent made instantly either ya know? It's a balance between game mehanics and believability
  12. Hello friends, As the title says I immediately upon playing tried just cooking vegetables in a fire and was a little shocked to see it didn't do anything, of course you can eat the veggies raw but wouldn't it make sense for it to be possible to cook them just as they are the same way you can cook meat or fish? You can cook them in meals but not by themself, it always stood out to me as strange because it seems like such a standard next step to me.
  13. I agree with the notion that we should be getting more than 4 firewood per log, a tree trunk that is (technically considering the dimentions of the blocks in game) a whole meter wide should be split into more than 4 chunks, if in game it would take a sawmill to get that then I'd be fine with it. Also not related to the sawmill but we should be able to burn sticks into charcoal aswell
  14. you didn't take damage? how?
  15. Salt is ALWAYS a huge pain... I usually spend most of the first winter doing nothing but looking for salt XD
  16. What berries grow in the arctic though? I'm fairly certain the peoples in the poles survive mostly on fish save for what they can trade/import I agree the tropics could use more variety though, as it is I find it not very interesting to play settled in a warm climate.
  17. Hmmm I see, yeah I suppose that could be usefull Well for now atleast just in case you didn't know, on the right side of your map you can filter the areas you prospected by specific ores found, It's not exactly what you're looking for but it might help. You could filter for hematite for example and all the prospecting dots that didn't have any hematite will dissapear and their color will also ajust autimatically to be accurate only to the reading of that specific ore, so you could more easily find the ones you're looking for!
  18. Hello friends, So when I first started playing and it came to making alloys I always ended up grabbing my phone to help me calc the best rates because I'm not very good at math, after I discovered calculator tools online I pretty much never ever tried calculation anything by myself. Whenever I have to make an allow I alt-tab out of the game to a new screen to figure out how many nuggets I need, I even have my favorite one bookmarked. So as for my suggestion, I wouldn't mind for a alloy calculator to be added to the game itself, the handbook is already so detailed about explaining what to do so I don't think it would be that immersion breaking (atleast not as immersion breaking as opening a calculator on a new screen lol) Conversely I could also see a new item like an abacus for example to be added that could open a calculator, it would be more immersive that way I think. I have (hopefully succesfully) added a poll because I want to see if you guys are in the same boat, do you also switch to a calculator or do you count in your head? Because I can imagine that if you do do all the math in your head then having a slider somewhere might looks strange.
  19. But wouldn't adding a description make it even longer? How long of a desciption are you wanting to add to things? Personally msot my markers are color coded so I can see what they are at a glance
  20. @LadyWYT already mentioned sheep can eat hay... to quote a certain someone in this forum: ''Reading is a nice skill to have.'' I mean... sure man if that makes you feel better. I'm gonna stop trying to engage now cuz it seems you have convinced yourself that everything I say is somehow ''twisting words'' and thus not true even if other people say the exact same thing... Theres no point in me trying to talk to you if you choose to only read/quote half of what I say, ignore the rest and then follow it up by saying I am somehow the one misrepresenting YOU
  21. I think you figured it out! What they truly want is to play creative mode but they don't realise it! Then you don't have to worry about food and you can just hop back in at any time, even 50+ irl days later and go on doing whatever it is you're doing that isn't at all survival related! Creative mode is the solution here!
  22. I don't either, you're just choosing to only quote half of what I say and ignore the other half I'm doing no such thing, you're the only one that's upset here man becaue 14 years isn't long enough for your hypothetical scenario... you're gonna stock up os so much wine that you can survive on nothing but wine and still have wine left over for it to spoil after 14 years and not be able to make another single drop of wine in between so it's ''rotten and worthless'' (for reference I just checked my own games cellar which is not in the arctic and my wine is set to stay good for 14 years) So how much ''time spent preparing food'' to ''nutrition gained'' ratio would be a sufficient amount for you? I'll be sure to tell the vintage story overlords next time I see them! I mean... sure but that's quite literally the least possible effort you gotta put in, killing them with a cleaver is a single click. Yes you do have to cook them but you're sayng you don't want to bother cooking your food? It's a base mechanic of the game??? And a meal takes like a whole 10 seconds to cook, idk how you would survive such a time investment! Also ignoring aaaaaaalll the other suggestions we gave that are ready to eat as they are AND ignoring the fact that in your own premise this ''mystery food'' requires a lot of planning and preperation I find it a little strange you find cooking a meal for a couple seconds such a hurdle. Oke so, why get angry about alternative solutions people are giving if bamboo solves the issue for you already? Just ignore the rest then? we all love a bit of irony don't we?
  23. Funny how you misread something that is plain english and then end your post by saying: HAHAHAHAHA XD I agree man: ''50 liters each'' means: ''50 liters each'' in case that wasn't clear! no? once again an interesting take that only holds up because you're not reading the very next sentence after the one you quoted, it completely explains my viewpoint... Let me help you out then: Look up the term: ''perspective-taking'' and you'll figure it out! So like I said, self imposed limitations. If you're building a base in a place that is freezing all the time then you're going to have to deal with the consequences of it freezing all the time oh my bad, I misunderstood Sidenote, I suggest you go take a walk man, it seems like you're getting pretty agitated over this...
  24. sure man but how much food you you want to keep in reserve anyway? You mean you want to join a game and have an entire year worth of calories stored and just ready to go? That's not how the game works, when you log on you gotta think about your next meal, that's the gameplay loop So now you're just casually pretending I didn't say I made 200 liters of wine not 50 and ignoring the fact I said I could've easily made more if I wanted but chose to focus on diverisfying flavors for roleplaying reasons, and this is me during a casual playthough... aka not SPECIFICALLY for a very niche reason trying to stock up on foods that never spoil for some reason Not a great argument man disagree, extremely reliable, one of the most reliable, you hardly have to do anything but wait and they just generate food by themselves. You're saying bees are not reliable because you have to go find them 1 time? Yes?? Like you have to go and find anything else too... you want food to just spawn in your inventory by itself? Sure I see that but what is it exactly that you have to do in the north pole specifically?? What's 50k blocks up north that isn't anywhere else? Seems to me like this is a self imposed limitation followed by a complaint about why this self imposed limitation is limiting This is just an issue because of the vessel you choose; 36 slots to a trunk with 8 honeycombs per slot is 288 honeycombs stored in 2 blocks space for 86.400 satiety, or 43.200 per storage block. I never tried storing honeycomb in a crate so idk if it's possible but if it is then you can store 160 honeycombs or 48.000 fruit satiety per block So your argument here is that it is too difficult or takes too long to get that many in bulk??? Wasn't part of you initial argument that the suggested food would have to be tedious to make in bulk?? What's the argument here?
