I'd argue you have it reversed since "For whom the bell tolls" is a reference to an execution, where "Prize" makes it sound like you did something good! haha.

"All fungi are edible, some fungi are only edible once." --Died from eating a toxic mushroom.

Trying to find lead for windows and more so for a distill. ....no luck. Just did a ton of prospecting this morning. I have a big area near my base with miniscule amounts, but don't think I've ever seen poor or higher of it. Is there some trick to how it spawns, or is this just pure RNG? So far nothing else has evaded me so much...

Absolutely is doable. But I think at this point, they may as well just have you create your own modded item using that API. Everything is doable, but being a good cost/benefit ratio is another thing.

"Fire.... BAD!" --Have a fire spread to a bed from a source at least 4 blocks away.

"It's a cruel world" -- Die within 10 minutes of starting a new world. "Failed to plan" -- Starving to death at least 5000 blocks from your spawn point. "Still fresh!" -- Eat food or cook food that was within 1 hour of going bad. "Overprepared" --Not starting the story till you've made steel. "Eat the rich" --spend 50 rusty gears. "This armor sucks!" --Wear improvised armor till it breaks.

I build with dirt, but all my rooms are above ground except the cellar. And only the cellar plays "cave music" so I know that's a factor. EDIT: I should clarify that the room in question was initially a pile of dirt that I cleared out then built with rammed earth. so it MIGHT count as underground?
-
The music has overall grown on me since I started playing the game. I do feel inclined to agree a bit with the OP that the music isn't at all bad, but sometimes feels like a bit of a mismatch from the game. I think all the tracks currently in there are fine, but maybe the game would benefit a lot from specific combat music tracks or being a bit more sensitive to what you are currently doing. Just a quick 2 cents. I overall am pleased with it.

I get that rooms protect you from the cold, but I'm curious about how the cave detection works. I've also noticed NOT being as cold in my mostly enclosed windmill room even though it is not technically a room with a hole for the axle. Though this room still increased my hunger rate beyond a true room. I suspect the game might have a concept of a partial room or if you're exposed to wind directly or not?

I agree that being able to debark logs seems like a great thing to add. Certainly not an urgent priority but it would be cool to be able to use debarked logs as a building material and to have some uses for bark. ..even if not barkcloth. Being able to make rope out of bark would be cool. EDIT: Just wanted to add that I think it's important not to make this TOO useful from a gameplay perspective. It would break a lot of current game stuff if you could easily debark the log, then still use the log for boards or firewood and also have very useful bark material! Might make sense to lock the use of bark behind a machine that takes longer to get.... I don't know... it's realistic to make bark available and useful, but the more I think about it, the more I think this might break too much early game mechanics.

Fall damage is inconsistent. How does it work?
Vexxvididu replied to Keven Dallaire's topic in Questions
That's interesting. My guess is it's a bit overengineered and maybe trying to approximate how fall damage might be reduced due to air resistance? Not sure what else that expectedYMotion would be trying to do. -
Is it actually possible to make the iron anvil with only 10 ingots?
Vexxvididu replied to Vexxvididu's topic in Questions
Okay, I didn't destroy any voxels until it was filled, so I was wondering if this was an issue. It makes sense, but is annoying. -
I just made my first iron anvil. It was a lot of fun, as I enjoy the smithing mechanic quite a bit. ...but to bottom was missing one voxel from the first 5 ingots. And the top was missing a number of voxels from the first 5. So I used 6 ingots for each. Am I missing something or does it just require 6 for each?
-
I'm not sure your question has an easy answer. Iron chainmail is great but is a lot of work.... and much more so if you don't have a helve hammer setup. If you really need the linen for things other than windmill sails you might consider just sticking with leather armor or bronze Lamellar for the time being. I also think tailored gambeson is great but that is also a ton of flax fibers that won't be usable for sails or a boat.... It's a big trade off that is very subjective. I'd also advise that it's okay to take your time and not rush things too much. Give yourself time to grow the flax for everything!

Just wanted to add to this, minecraft mining often involves filling your tunnels with torches that will last forever. That is impractical in Vintage Story. You usually just drill down, and clear out what you find, only holding light in your offhand. Lamps are fine for this as they will help you see. Lanterns are better but take longer to get. I generally do NOT leave permanent light in my mines. I dig out what I want and go.... returning only if really needed. I also want to add that rope ladders are a GREAT item for getting back out of the mine shaft, as they are reusable, unlike normal ladders. As a general rule, everything is more expensive in VS than in MC.

I agree that drifters should be more likely to drop SOMETHING. I don't think it's too much to ask if they just drop a flax fiber all the time if nothing else. I like that getting a saw opens up the game so much since boards are so important. note you can transfer water with bowls prior to that. I agree early game hunger meter is unforgiving. Getting over the farming hump is big.

Should pottery be dried before it can be fired?
Vexxvididu replied to LadyWYT's topic in Suggestions
This is kind of how I feel about it. I kind of like the idea, but am worried adding steps to early game processes might be a bit offputting to brand new players trying to do early game pottery. -
It was made very recently (with a lot of help from @The Insanity God) and is perfectly stable and works well! I called it Steady Greenhouses but it is not published. Not sure sure when and if I might publish it, but I'll put the files here and anyone who wants it can use it. EDIT: Note that this has only been tested for single player. No idea if it would work on servers... SteadyGreenHouses.zip
