Thats actually a very nice idea. A possibility for them to fall out after a certain distance would also be absolutely OK to have this not too OP. Would also just make sense. At least for arrows.

Thanks! I wasn't absolutely sure regarding this one (as mentioned)

I am the cute pizza lady, apparently.

What the hell am I reading here. Not sure if I wanna know what this is about -
Your points are absolutely valid. As you've already mentioned, the next update will very likely include rivers. Sometimes mountains are very steep, but there are also smoother mountains. It kinda depends on definition about "smooth". I, in my current playthrough, have a pretty large flat area (I'd guess its around 300x150 blocks). So it might be that you were just unlucky with your world generation or your generation settings. Rain is also dependent on your region. It's not global. So it might absolutely be possible that it rains on one side of your house, but the other side is dry. The world is big, so you might have some luck by wandering around for a new location.

Hope you add auto-stepup to vanilla for those with carpal tunnel
tinyoverflow replied to Mac Mcleod's topic in Suggestions
There is a mod for that https://mods.vintagestory.at/stepupcontinued It is client side only, so it should work except if the server has explcitly banned that mod. Your suggestion is absolutely valid, though. -
Yes, it will change the growing time accordingly. But also it should increase their yield according to their growing time. I've read that somewhere, but haven't tested it myself, so please take this with a grain of salt.

I can't really say anything about how realistic the consumption is in terms of numbers, as the game is quite abstract about it. Satiety is not directly related to kcal, I think. You're absolutely right with the bread. It's kinda ridiculus that you have to consume 5 loafs of bread (yielding 300 sat each) to fill your hunger bar. Despite that, it's not that unrealistic. A good meal can fill you up a lot. If done right, it nearly fills your whole bar without many ingredients. With meals, I think it's pretty OK. Just like breakfast, probably lunch (depending on how much you do) and dinner. I'd be really upset in reallife if I only had one meal a day, too. Personally, it doesn't bother me that much.

Copying a local game (from Steam Deck) to a server
tinyoverflow replied to EternalLight's topic in Questions
Please note that you might need to adjust the path in your serverconfig.json file, as (at least in my case) it referenced the absolute full path to the save file on my system (Linux Flatpak). -
Whoops, @LadyWYT was a bit faster than me --- Welcome to the forums! I understand that this situation sucks, but the support ist normally pretty fast and you should get a response within one or two working days. Depending on the payment method, it may take some time until you get your game key. Credit card and PayPal should be instant, though. When did you purchase the game and what payment method have you used to do so? Unfortunately the only thing you can do is to wait for the support. This forum is mainly used by other players like you and we cannot look into this for you. I hope you get your key soon!

Prevent chickens from being scared through walls
tinyoverflow replied to tinyoverflow's topic in Questions
Oh, thats a bummer. I always thought it's only in line of sight. It's time to push them to generation 10 -
That’s a great idea! Not sure if specifically torches are required, but for light you can also use lanterns. Those will never go out. You can also light them beforehand, as they won’t go out inside your inventory. Only when placed outside of a torch holder.

Hola! I've built a small barn for my animals and surrounded it with walls (chiselled). My bush farm is right next to it. Unfortunately my chickens get scared even when I'm outside, preventhing them from incubating the eggs properly. They shouldn't be able to see me, as there's a wall between them and me. Is this intended, did I do anything wrong or is there anything I can do to prevent this? Screenshot from the outside: Screenshot from the inside: Thank you very much!

Welcome to the forums! Please note that the forums language is English, if not explicitly stated otherwise. Despite that, do you have any specific suggestions on what to add in, for example, lakes?

Good find, @talkingsoup! This mapping is pretty odd and shouldn't be there by default (at least in 1.21.6). Please don't hesitate to mark your own post as the solution, so that other players with that issue can see that this has been solved and jump to your comment

Your error just states that screen is not installed. Just install screen via your package manager and you should be able to get closer to your Vintage Story server.

@r3g How were you checking this? If you're just looking at the farmland, it doesn't update immediately. Calculations for greenhouse effects happen, as far as I know, about every 4 ingame hours.

The game itself already does a lot of things on higher graphic settings. I play on maximum settings with 1536 blocks view distance and it just looks good. I understand that Minecraft looks flat without shaders, but imho Vintage Story already does already most of the things shaders for Minecraft do. You have shadows, moving leaves and plants according to the wind, bloom, volumetric clouds, godrays, particles, dynamic lighting, fog and more. Is there any specific thing you're missing? You can also play around with the sliders like gamma, contrast and bloom to further customize how damp or bright your game looks. Not every game has to look like the latest Doom, Call of Duty or Battlefield to be a beautiful game. The way the game looks is how it's developers want it to look. This is true for both Minecraft and Vintage Story. Might be not your style, but that's personal preference. I personally like Vintage Storys visual appearance a lot. I mean, there are enough Fiat Multipla on the road to see that taste is very different and some people simply don't care about or even want AAA graphics.

@TinyKittenKisses Support is normally pretty fast. I'd assume that it's due to the holidays that responses take a bit longer. I do understand that this situation really sucks. Unfortunately, most people in this forum are just Vintage Story players and we cannot help you with this except for redirecting you to the support. In the past few days they accumulated a couple houndred tickets and the team isn't that big. Probably also due to the holidays, as people bought the game and might have issues, questions or something. Your ticket should be looked at soon

Question regarding server specification requirements
tinyoverflow replied to Konrad Lemański's topic in Multiplayer
Welcome to the forums! As the wiki states: I'm not sure if the server of this game is multithreaded, though CPU performance might depend whether or not the cores of your VM are dedicated or shared. My 2 player server has a single CPU core assigned and a usage of around 20-25% while normal gameplay (i9-9900K) and uses around 900MB of memory. -
How migrate our inventories to an up-to-date world?
tinyoverflow replied to Zaney_'s topic in Questions
Welcome to the forums! Unfortunately I cannot help you with the migration, but I can help with the generation of oceans. To my knowledge, rivers are not a thing, yet. Oceans are not really present in the default preset, but you can enable them by playing around with the landscale options, as described on the World Configuration wiki page. Scroll down a bit to find the table with example screenshots and the corresponding options and their values used to generate this map. Hope this helps a bit! -
Welcome to the forums! As LadyWYT said, you can enable and disable this information overlay via the settings options. There's also a keybind for that, which defaults to CTRL + B. With that, you can toggle this overlay. In addition to that, you can use CTRL + N to toggle the usage overlay, which tells you what options you have to interact with a block you look at.

adding mods to linux based server in terminal and activating them
tinyoverflow replied to Erick Bosquez's topic in Questions
Welcome to the forums! Basically you upload the individual .zip files of the mods into your servers ./data/Mods folder and restart the server. This should load and enable the mods. You could also simply go through each mod and install it throug the /moddb install command. You can find the corresponding mod ID on the mods page on the "Files" tab next to it's version. -
Do you have any other applications running that might use your GPU? What does you GPU utilization and temperature say? Maybe something like Wallpaper Engine? It also doesn't seem to be the fault of only the Ryzen 7 processors, as I'm playing on Fedora 43, Plasma 6.5, Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RX 7900 XTX with 64GB of RAM and it's running buttery smooth with 240 FPS (280 w/o vsync) at 1440p with no stuttering whatsoever. Might be a fluke with the combination of NVIDIA and AMD, or maybe just the OS that doesn't handle some things well?

Still water is a water block that doesn't flow. It's also considered a permanent source. The command replaces flowing water blocks with still ones.
