How do i create a simple mod that removes all these stupid leaves off the ground?

I hate that the ground is covered by these pseudo leaf piles everywhere, and i think it looks dumb. How can i mod that out of the game?

Speaking of which, since we're on the topic of foliage, trees. Are the trees in this game affected by dwarfism or what? Why are their leaves so close to the ground that they are literally touching it? The layer where the trees' crown of leaves begins should be atleast 2-5 meters off the ground. How do i make the trees taller?

Those leafy blocks all over the place are bushes and provide a way to get sticks during the first day if someone is not close to a forest where sticks are on the ground.

In the case of leaves on the ground?

In that case, i wish the bushes looked like real bushes. Also, i wish they had some collision in their center

The scrub oak (pictured) wouldn't have a collision in their center.  It was fun to use them as forts when I was young.

As for pine trees (and larch) that have branches on the ground?  They do have a trunk in the center.

Ok. I'll say this in a different way.

These are not unrealistic. They resemble reality. I just dont like them, and i dont know how to mod, and i want the short trees where the leaves touch the ground, and the ugly bushes, gone.

At a guess, open treegenproperties.json, go clear to the bottom to "dwarfbirch" and change weight to 1. I think that will make them as rare as purpleheart or ebony. I wouldn't go 0, in case it does a divide by weight somewhere.

Start a new game and see if that does it. If so, go to the wiki and learn how to replace keypairs instead of overwriting them.

Thinking about it a bit more, "weight" might not be the right one to change. If the game sums all the weights and rolls a number between 1 and the sum, if there's only one possible spawn, it doesn't matter what that "weight" number is.

I'd try the fertilization numbers. The terrain that it shows up on is not 255 fertilization, for sure. So try setting the max to 255 and the min to 254. In fact, you could probably get cute about it. Figure out what the fertilization of high fertility soil is, set the values for that, and if you see bushes, you should look for HFS.
