Translocator locator

Is there a mod or plans to implement in game a buildable translocator finding device? Looking around with no clip in creative there seems to be quite a few translocators down in caverns with no connection to the surface and really no way to stumble into them.

aside from a mod, yeah, the only way (that i know of) currently is while caving there happens to be drifter noise (or falling water) thru a wall to another cave (that might contain the tl), and picking a hole thru

 

(recently treasure hunters will sell maps to buried treasure.  perhaps another type of map could eventually be offered that points to tl's)

I've got a theory that unstable chunks may indicate the presence of a translocator, given that I've found quite a few in unstable chunks. They also seem to all teleport you to spots near trader wagons, so the presence of a trader wagon may indicate a translocator is somewhere nearby. I would also take both of those suggestions with several grains of salt, as I'm not sure that those are actual clues to finding them, or whether I was just getting lucky. But it's worth a shot.

Interesting. It would be really neat if that was true about the traders and instability.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's a coincidence. It almost seems like they're just that common. If you really scour an area for them, you're almost certain to find at least one! I've found many within 200 blocks of another TL, and only by mining through solid rock while quarrying.

From watching Utoobers they do seem to be plentiful; it just takes time to explore caves.  That can be hard early on with limited armor options, but in vanilla, TLs are always in a cave.  I once found a TL in a cave about 50 or 75 blocks above sea level!

i only found one so far. and that's only because i was chasing a bighorn Ewe into a cave trying to get it out. turns out there was a translocator down this hole I'd been ignoring this whole time.


Been living only 100 or so blocks away from it for two ingame years.
