I've decided to give Days per month 30 a go. Just wondering if theres anything I should know from someone who's maybe done this before?... I don't really like the idea of seasons passing in such a short time but I'm only worried about the effects it will have on crops and their growth times if any.. Thanks for any info guys!

an observation having played 30day months, winter is extended too.

my own solution is to move down south, somewhere closer to the tropics.  hang out north during the summer, and south for the winter

Now see THAT! I love the idea of, Having different season houses and farms during that time of year. I feel like on default settings it would be a little rushed. Glad I made the change, just need to pay attention to what seeds I have

As someone who's been doing 30-day months since 1.15 was modern

- Crops that take two months to grow on 9-day months will take 2 months to grow on 30-day months. Flax will take about 60 days.

- You will have a LONG time to prepare for the winter. While what @idiomcritter says is true about the winters being long, you'll have plenty of prep time for it. Get your crops growing early and make about 50+ crocks and you'll have no issues. I don't move South btw, I stay in the temperate area.

- I spend my long winters building and exploring. You don't have to as well, that's just how I like it. I did do both Story Chapters in two different winters. Makes the long travel ones easier with all the lakes frozen :P

Other than that, I don't think there's any other differences :) Unless I forgot something big . ..

Nah that covers most of it. It's been a while since I played with 30-day months, but you addressed the biggest issues. Chief of which is winter; if you stay in the same base year-round, you'll be wanting to preserve a lot more food. I'd say salt is a more important resource with this kind of setup, as is foraging, since you'll still need the same daily calorie intake but won't have the same kind of supply times to rely on as you normally would.

I forgot all about salt!
Yes, I am a BIG pickler. I make all sorts of pickled veggies, as they'll easily last through the winter (and usually off to next winter), and having a shelf stable vegatable is awesome. There are some issues with them, as I have encountered here, but that asides, you can still make meals with them. Halite's a hard one to find, but it's a good thing you have a long time to hunt for it before winter comes :P

Interesting I never used salts or pickles yet. There is still a handful of mechanics and such I not touched in the game yet even though I have like 4 worlds that is over a year old in game time now.

Still never unlocked the legendary cheese age yet hah.

Given the larger number of days in May, it shouldn't be difficult to have at least 2 stacks of flax, vegie and another grain before the end of May leaving 2 growing seasons in the first summer.  That is gonna be an absolute crapton of produce.  I'd think the difficult part would be meat, unless the roughly 3 months gestation is really just 36 days (given my 12 day months).  If animal gestation works the same as crop growth, then ranching enough meat would be difficult that first summer.
