Ihavenothing364 Posted April 14, 2025 Report Posted April 14, 2025 As the title says. I was wondering what are some good ways in locating a ore node when you go on a mining run and find a poor, decent, rich, and ultra rich ore reading from your prospecting pick.
Solution Zane Mordien Posted April 14, 2025 Solution Report Posted April 14, 2025 Once you find the reading you want, then I recommend you have a stack of ladders and dig straight down while using the ladders to keep from falling in any caves you might hit. Prospect every 6-8 tiles down. Most ores don't spawn until you are lower than 0.7 of sealevel. If you didn't change world height sea level is 110 ish, so around 70-75 world height you start having a chance to find ore. 1

Okay, when you want to hone in on the ore reading, switch to node-mode (holding your prospecting pick, press F). Instead of trying to write it out how to narrow down your search (easier to say than to write), here is a video explaining it - he starts speaking specifically to node-mode about the 8:50 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CBlbhvq43I Edited April 15, 2025 by dakko 1

I know but I don't keep track as I mine down and it doesn't hurt anything beyond the durability of your propick. Sloppy, I know. Edited April 16, 2025 by Zane Mordien 1
Maelstrom Posted April 17, 2025 Report Posted April 17, 2025 Better to overlap than miss that (potentially) bountiful deposit of coveted ore. 1
