Rex Lindsey Posted May 25, 2025 Report Posted May 25, 2025 (edited) I'm playing a version below the current, 1.20.9-1.20.10, and I'm getting lots of bugs. Audio cuts, food bar not updating for a few seconds after I eat, Items lose the info they're supposed to show when moussing over, and animals turning invincible. Leaving and joining the world fixes it for a few mins before it glitches again. What's happening? Is it the version that's the problem? How do I fix it? This was my first world, and I wanna keep playing it. Edited May 25, 2025 by Rex Lindsey
Michael Gates Posted May 25, 2025 Report Posted May 25, 2025 I've seen the food bar thing in... I don't keep track, but a couple three different 1.20 builds including whatever's most current. Also, not animals, but invincible drifters that don't do anything is a rare but known occurrence. Audio-- do you mean the thing where you run for several hours, and eventually it loses your footstep noises? That's been happening since at least 1.19. So yeah, most of these at least are Things That Happen. None of it makes the game unplayable, and none of it seems to lead to anything worse like crashes, so *shrug*.
Tom Cantine Posted May 25, 2025 Report Posted May 25, 2025 I find I sometimes accidentally hit ctrl-B which toggles the info overlay for blocks I'm looking at. Not so much a bug as a consequence of keyboard mapping. (I also sometimes accidentally throw my falx on the ground in combat, as Q is right next to the maneuver keys WASD.) 1
Thorfinn Posted May 25, 2025 Report Posted May 25, 2025 Welcome to the forums, @Rex Lindsey Is your system up to snuff? Lots of people with the recommended specs have troubles when there are other things running, especially browsers.
Moltrey Posted May 25, 2025 Report Posted May 25, 2025 Yeah, no background stuff at all. I am lucky that I don't tend to use them, but I think a good chunk of folks forget they have "stuff" churning away in the background. Not saying that is your particular issue Rex, but it is worth a look. Discord and other apps are notorious for "just keeping you informed... really!"

So Idk why it's only acting up now.

The only thing that get's played is rift noises. Everything else stops. It's weird
Never Jhonsen Posted May 26, 2025 Report Posted May 26, 2025 I have been having all these issues since 1.20.0 hit. The game runs fine if I stay in one place, but if I start loading chunks then those issues start to show, and stay relevant until I stop loading chunks; the more I load the longer it takes for things to return back to normal. I assumed it was due to only having 12GB of RAM, but I maxed myself out at 64GB DDR4 2133MHz and it didn’t change anything. The only way I’ve been able to play is on absolute minimal, with a few exceptions. My 2060 will let me max out View Distance, along with a few other GPU-intensive settings. My next finacial goal is to replace the 6th gen pentium I have and max my board out with an i7 7700, as CPU processor speed is my current bottleneck, but that’s gotta wait until I can afford that. This dragon is NOT the richest, and the USD$50-$125 that those i7 7700’s usually run for is too much to casually drop
AppleJam Posted May 31, 2025 Report Posted May 31, 2025 (edited) Thankfully the disappearing Elk + the incorrect marker for them has been my biggest bug I'd encountered to date... Second only to a certain Spoiler Very Rusty Place with a Tall building and an Angry bird disappearing entirely when using the time switch. Causing me to be unable to progress the main quest lol I did wonder if it was due to a mod or something but as far as I know I don't have any mods that mess with that place.
