THE BRICKSTER Posted July 7, 2025 Report Posted July 7, 2025 If I'm making the roof of my greenhouse with glass slabs, would Quartz glass (2 clear quartz + 4 sticks) work the same as plain Glass (smelting quartz chunks in a bloomery)? I have a lot of clear quartz, so that seems easier if so. Also, I read that the roof has to be at least 50% glass. Is there any bonus for using 51-100% glass?

You just need to make sure the slab is flush to the inside of the greenhouse, and not the outside, in order for it to function. 8 minutes ago, THE BRICKSTER said: Also, I read that the roof has to be at least 50% glass. Maelstrom Posted July 8, 2025 Report Posted July 8, 2025 I recall there may be a problem with glass slabs if they are on the top half of the block as opposed to the bottom half. If all other greenhouse requirements are satisfied but your greenhouse isn't granting the temp bonus, check that the slabs are in the bottom half of their respective blocks. 1
dakko Posted July 8, 2025 Report Posted July 8, 2025 (edited) @THE BRICKSTER In case you might be interested... This gorgeous build is an example of using glass slabs to fulfill the greenhouse roof requirement while allowing a more decorative finish on top. But there is also a link in one of the comments to the OP's imgr acct which has several pictures, one being the positioning of the slab as seen from inside of the greenhouse (and another pic proving that this exquisite design fulfills the room requirements despite the chiseling). Followup question, I was using "/debug rooms hi" to make sure my greenhouse was at least valid as a room. It wasn't, so I tried repositioning my roof slabs with no effect. I finally noticed that I had a stone path (block) next to the exit door. Removing it and placing a regular soil block in its place, or placing a stone path slab on top were both solutions that made it count as a room. I can live with that, but I had a similar problem with my house where replacing a stone path block with stone path stairs made the room valid. Worth pointing out that the first block on the outside of each door (i.e. the block it swings above when opening or closing) was also a stone path block but that didn't seem to cause a problem in either case. Would this be considered a bug or intentional behavior? I'm using v1.20.12 (Stable) without mods.
Maelstrom Posted July 12, 2025 Report Posted July 12, 2025 If the problem block is the one targeted in your screenshot? Seems like a bug. Looks like you have a stone path block under your door that I would think would be a problem as stone path blocks are not a full block, as you can see in the screenshot.
