NukoSan Posted January 24, 2024 Report Posted January 24, 2024 Lately, I've been diving deep into the world of Vintage Story, and I must say, it's been an incredible journey so far. However, there's one mod that has truly captured my attention and added a whole new layer of enjoyment to the game – XSkills. XSkills is that game-changer we've all been looking for! It opens up a world of possibilities by allowing players to carve their destinies through hard work and dedication. Whether you want to become a skilled blacksmith crafting mighty weapons, a shrewd trader navigating the markets, or a master potter shaping beautiful creations, XSkills empowers players to pursue their passions in the game. The beauty of Vintage Story lies in the diversity of experiences, and XSkills takes it to a whole new level. It adds a personal touch to the game, making every player's journey unique and memorable. 2
Sebastos Posted March 9, 2024 Report Posted March 9, 2024 I’d love to see the game implement a player investment system. Something simple as the trading with the trader and seeing the trader expand. Maybe you come back and they have another cart attached. Perhaps after a while they build a house for themselves. Also if I were to build a town, I would love for villagers to inhabit my creations. If I invest time to build something, it’s really enjoyable to see the game invest back! 3 1

If you have enough rep with a trader and a spare Wooden bed, you can ask them to come live with you. So you can set up your own private market. 2
RoughGalaxy Posted February 10, 2025 Report Posted February 10, 2025 May I suggest adding an option to display the ore name next to the scientific name for ease of understanding? eg: Malachite [Copper] 1 1
KyraH1978 Posted February 11, 2025 Report Posted February 11, 2025 I'm sure someone has mentioned this before, but could we please get more path options. The wood path and stone dirt paths are fine, but I would like some more variety. Also can we get looms to make carpets, curtains, and banners? Thanks so much for everything, the game is AWESOME! 1 1
Xandyr1978 Posted June 20, 2025 Report Posted June 20, 2025 I saw that the Roadmap includes a wish to find an alternative to the 3x3 crafting grid. Would it be too complex to keep the 3x3 when working from inventory, then perhaps have a workbench with maybe a 4x4 or a 5x5 grid that allows for more complex crafting of items? Is this even something that people would enjoy? I like the idea of it, especially because it doesn't allow for crafting literally anything from within one's inventory, but requires that one be at a specific station to craft more-involved items. I also love the way that wind power simply requires actual assembly of the structure, but I'm not sure how to translate that into other craftables, especially smaller items.

May I suggest, instead of 4x4 grid, a 3x3x3 one? Assembling three dimensional components seems considerably more interesting than just bigger two dimensional ones.
Cameron Rose Posted July 4, 2025 Report Posted July 4, 2025 (edited) would nice if the crafting-outline grid when making certain items had some kind of automatic variable contrast, currently the grid blends in really well for objects that are a light color. (like granite, and some other stone types) also, some option/tier between "perfect/instant world map you can pull up whenever" and "no world map" would be nice. some kind of in-game cartography progression perhaps? Sener Posted July 15, 2025 Report Posted July 15, 2025 I purchased this game from the official website, but I think Vintage Story is a bit expensive for people living in second-world or lower-income countries. The current pricing might be fine for the USA, UK, or Europe, but I live in Türkiye, and $20 can get you many AAA-quality games here. I heard that the forum is open to different ideas, so I wanted to share my honest opinion and give some advice. If the game had more affordable regional pricing for low-income countries, I believe it would have much more potential in the future. Sorry if my English isn't perfect — I just wanted to share my thoughts for the game develop. A price around $15∿17 would be more reasonable for the Middle East region.

I agree with this, and I would also like to see a map option where the map can be opened but you cannot see where you are on it. 1
Professor Dragon Posted July 30, 2025 Report Posted July 30, 2025 SUGGESTIONS: 1) Change the breaking sound of the "Reed chest" (basket) from "hollow stone" to something more like wicker work. I pick up reed chests fairly often, working on projects, and this always just sounds wrong - like hollow stone is being tapped. It doesn't matter surface the basket is on - so it is not picking up the sound of the surface beneath. 2) Change the reed chest pick-up mechanic from "breaking" to a "pick up" - as you would pick up a straw dummy, for example. Maybe if was fully, then you could not pick it up, but instead could break it as you currently do (with new sound!). (Alternatively, you could pick it up, but it spills all contents. Either is fine.) I think it should be allowed to pick up and put down an empty basket. 2

I think, similar to how some blueprint building are made, it would be neat to do some quests for a trader, and then after you’ve earned their trust or some other qualifier, you get the blueprints for either a wagon or stand for this trader to occupy. They could also manage your personal store. This would be great for things like barbers or other NPC jobs the player finds useful and would like to be closer. Edited August 9, 2025 by Lukahz
ijkdenem Posted August 14, 2025 Report Posted August 14, 2025 (edited) i hope we get water currents. like moving rivers and streams. the oceans would probably a bit too hard to do right now but for rivers and streams i thinks it could be done. also if done right they could add waterwheels to the game as another power source like the windmills. i want them so bad!!! a waterwheel would be like a vertical giant gear but with plank/bucket parts in it to catch water. things like these pictures below would fit in so easily with the look and feel of the game. TheProgrammer163 Posted September 3, 2025 Report Posted September 3, 2025 (edited) As a player on Steam Deck/controller, I'm a big fan of removing the crafting grid. Crafting grids are a fun mini-game when using a mouse, and it can help make games popular by having secret recipes that friends share with each other and with Minecraft it caused the creations of many Youtube tutorials and wiki sites, so there are pros that don't improve the game per se but things outside the game that are about the game. ...but on a controller it's a pain. Valheim requires just having the ingredients and it was sich a breath of fresh air, I support gridless crafting. Edited September 3, 2025 by TheProgrammer163 paragraphs were too spaced out

You might try out this mod, in that case: https://mods.vintagestory.at/radialcrafting That's a good one. Did not know it. In a similar vein, this mod lets you populate the crafting grid straight from the Handbook: https://mods.vintagestory.at/improvedhandbookrecipes "Adds the following to item pages in the handbook: Using the scroll wheel while hovering over a recipe or item with several variants lets you flip between them freely. If crafting grid is also open, adds buttons to automatically add the required ingredients to the crafting grid (add one craft and add max). Displays a small wrench icon on ingredients that are not consumed by the recipe. Also adds how much durability will be used to the tooltip. Auto fill also uses items from any opened chests unless shift is held." While it may not be as close a match for @TheProgrammer163, this functionality is fantastic, and should be in base game I think. Professor Dragon. 2
Fistandantilus Posted September 5, 2025 Report Posted September 5, 2025 I feel like this must have been brought up before, but what about pausing time when making map markers? I like to type out for instance "clothing trader Bedwyr" or "Luxuries Trader Piccolino" or " acacia lobster mushroom patch" but I often get smacked while typing. 1 2

I know it has been mentioned before, but I for one will happily support this idea again. It's kind of crazy this isn't here by default (except multi-player). After all, the Handbook shows that a Pause is possible. At the very least, throw in an option on the map screen to pause, like the Handbook. Maybe there are a few use cases such as studying the map overnight while in the safety of your home, and letting time pass while you do so, such as in an emergency shelter with no bed. 1
Cameron Rose Posted September 14, 2025 Report Posted September 14, 2025 would be nice if we could lean tools up against fences, like we can solid blocks. 2
Professor Dragon Posted September 28, 2025 Report Posted September 28, 2025 (edited) Could we have an "auto forward" for the raft? Double tap the forward key (W) and it will just keep rowing forward in a straight line. Tap W again to cancel and return to default behaviour. Thanks. Edited September 28, 2025 by Professor Dragon 1

You can pause the game in single player while you have the map open. It's not perfect as you can't move around the map and look at things because it won't load new areas, but it gives you safe time to create map markers.
ArrayPointer Posted October 1, 2025 Report Posted October 1, 2025 I would like to chime in with several other posters here, and suggest the addition of non-animal, non-lore hostiles. The Outlaw Mod, when it's updated, is a good basic example of what I'd love to see as a part of the vanilla game that you could activate during initial settings for world creation. I can just imagine how much fun Homo Sapiens mode would be with numerous factions of humanoid foes! It's probably all I would play after completing the most recent story locations in Standard mode. Thank you for your time. Regards, ArrayPointer
DystopianPancake Posted October 1, 2025 Report Posted October 1, 2025 My suggestion is for the game to introduce a separate volume slider for the character voices. I don't want to turn all effects down, but those instrument sounds are painful 1
