Even during midday, on a "Medium" rift activity period, there are all sorts of enemies running around.  This makes no sense!  I know there was an issue with enemy spawns in a previous update, but I thought this got addressed.  Am I wrong about that?  It doesn't seem like anything has been done.  I get far more enemies spawning during "Medium" rift activity than any other time.  In my current world, it's 19:40 and again "Medium" activity, yet there are dozens (DOZENS) of enemies running around; it's still light out, and there's literally only one portal within view.  What is going on?

Having six rifts surroudning the base in Apocalyptic rift activity is of course something else, but still, one rift can make also a lot of trouble. When the rift generates close enough to the base to be activated by a player inside the base, then it can generate monsters repeatedly. They can finally accumulate in overwhelming numbers. Recently, I got a shiver spawned directly in my smithery during low rift activity, due to rift located less than ten block behind the wall...

I have not seen this yet. I've usually just seen a single beast spawned by a rift in the daytime. I'm not that wild about it, but it hasn't been a big problem. I wonder what the difference is. I tend to go out and run around the area during the day. Are you guys hanging out at base/near the rift during the day? Maybe that can stimulate an escalating number of spawns? That still doesn't sound like intended behavior, or I hope it isn't.

Rifts spawning enemies in daylight was confirmed a planned change, however, daylight spawns are much more limited and will disappear fairly fast if they're left unprovoked. So if there's rift activity and you're seeing a couple of enemies, that's no longer unusual. If you're seeing more enemies than that, it might be a bug, in which case you'll want to make a report over on the github bug tracker.

It happened unintentionally, as I have extended necessary night work to the noon. Also, as in early game, I was quite fihghting with a lack of light sources. It could contribute to the location of the rift, that otherwise would not genereted next to well lit base.

Do you live very far north, or very far south? If so, what is your current month?

I live fairly close to the "equator," as this is my first world and I wasn't very creative in wandering around for a scenic spot to homestead.  At the time, it was late August/early September (I'm now into winter), and 1900 was still plenty of light, so it boggles to have had so many eldritch horrors wandering around.  Since then, I've gone through a high rift, very high rift, and even apocalyptic rift activity moment, and I seriously didn't even notice a difference with medium rift activity in terms of numbers of spawns.  It's like they forgot to program daylight effects for medium rifts or something.  At this point, it's not even that dangerous, as I've been in-game long enough to make my steel industry fairly robust now; it's more of an extreme annoyance as I was trying to finish the last of my gardening/husbandry before the winter season.

Faerador, I feel the same way.

I've been playing Vintage Story since last year, and I mentally treat "Medium" rift activity as could-be-nearly-Apocalyptic. Really, results vary broadly for any given rift-activity. But when my home feels ready to be lifted off its foundation by the weight of drifters outside... I assume it's a Medium or Apocalyptic night... and when I check, it's usually Medium. I honestly will feel more comfortable going out in Very High activity than Medium.

What seems correct: the number of rifts, as Faerador also reports. Medium doesn't have high rift density.

What seems wrong: the number of drifters is *often* (but not always) higher than "High" or "Very High" activity. In my mind, I keep imagining there's a switch statement that for some reason falls through to Apocalyptic when the activity is Medium... maybe for the target drifter population? Perhaps the times when Medium isn't so bad it's because of the few rifts around curtailing the ability to reach a higher population? Speculation, as I don't know the mechanics of spawning.

I've had some memorable cases while I'm caught exploring... drifters practically raining down off a ledge like a waterfall. When I check and see "Medium" I'm not surprised.

What annoys me the most about this, is that Medium seems to be rather common, and results in many nights of smithing or other activity suffering this horrible cacophony. Such that in my mind it's a signature part of Vintage Story: the cacophony of night. Maybe playing a tune on the Resonator could calm their blather... giving more value to building/owning one.

if you place a torch near that rift it will help to dissapate it a lot faster if that rift is an issue. especially if its too close to home, base, or outpost. another option is the nightwatch mod.
