I just wanted to say it. I hate the bears but at least now after I kill them I can make something useful early game instead of just making pelts I don't need. This has been one of my favorite additions to the game since I started playing in 1.18. Thank you devs! 

 

Now if you could just give me something useful from a bowtorn...

Trap a bunch in a small room with a glass ceiling. While standing on the ceiling, plunk down a resonator and play your favorite tuning cylinder for an awesome rave party. 

If you replace the floor of this arena with something frozen then you can also have the amazing show "Bowtorn on Ice".

This is not at all relevant, but you've given me an idea for a new minigame. Bowtorn reverse archery competition. We draw a target on the wall. We trap a bowtorn. The objective is to get closest to the center without getting hit. This will pair nicely with my existing javelin battleship setup. (Each turn you move a target dummy and try to hit the other's from that position.)

Just a quick head's up that the bear armour is not repairable at this moment.

In terms of bowtorns, is it just me or have they been rebuffed again? In 1.20 they were snipers, accurate snipers at that, and hit hard. In 1.21 they were nerfed, but playing 1.21.6 it feels they are just as aggressive again. Could just be my RNG, who knows...

 

 

Edit: while we are here, and rather than starting a new thread, is it just me or are mobs now dropping temporal gears with abandon? My last playthrough I had to budget them, this one, my "cup runneth over" ...

I've seen one in my recent playthrough, and I'm 50 odd hours in. You'd think the Winter would pull them in to me but no they've been surprisingly conspicuous by their absence.

One Bear? That's insane! I spawned into my last two playthroughs to the roar of the bear trying to kill me.

I'm guessing it's probably just some good RNG in this case.

On my newest world I found 3 temporal gears on the first couple months but now I can't seem to find any.

I guess I'll just have to make a drifter trap and wait for the next storm.
