Etarnak Posted yesterday at 06:16 AM Report Posted yesterday at 06:16 AM (edited) Hello there, I've been holding off getting back into Vintage Story for the last few weeks, but I've got some ideas I want to try ingame. However, I do not want to start a new game if the new release is close to getting released (Like within the next 1-2 months), since I'll likely have to start a new world anyway when it comes out. So, my question is; People who are playing the unstable release, how stable is it actually? Are there any bugs that can brick the save? I dont really mind crashes etc. But it would really suck to have my save bricked Edited yesterday at 07:57 AM by Etarnak spelling
EnbyKaiju Posted yesterday at 08:53 AM Report Posted yesterday at 08:53 AM (edited) It's stable for the most part, in that it's not going to crash that much and all the features intended are there. But there's so many fixes that need to go in right now. I wouldn't recommend getting into a long-term headspace with it at this stage. e.g. the handbook is an utter mess right now with things not showing up at all, there are quite a few chashes from interactions. And there's a lot of balancing to do. I doubt any would brick the game but it would make it less fun. My recommendation, is to start playing around, find a world you like since the generation is in place, but don't invest your time into developing it just yet. So make it a little exploration thing, check out some seeds till you settle on something you like. Then you can start a new game with the same seed and settings and you get rolling when the update is good to go. Edited yesterday at 08:54 AM by EnbyKaiju 2 2
Silfrenbirce Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago At the moment I would say "not very." Over the course of a few days, I only experienced maybe two or three actual crashes in total. But then, earlier today, I ran into the weird issue of my game disconnecting from the server like clockwork about every four minutes. I have no idea what's causing that, but it just started this afternoon. 1 1
Vratislav Posted 21 hours ago Report Posted 21 hours ago Well, the stability itself is not bad, but as other say, there is a bit more bugs than is acceptable for smooth gameplay. 4
Etarnak Posted 19 hours ago Author Report Posted 19 hours ago Okay. Thank you all for giving your input I think I'll wait then.
LadyWYT Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago Just adding my two cents to the mix, but it's basically stable enough to play, but not enough that I would really trust it for a long term world yet. Aside from the handbook and crafting issues, the worst bugs that I'm aware of are the story content being a bit softlocked right now due to the treasure hunters not having the correct dialogue options yet. Certain areas from chapter 2 may also be bugged, since they got rather broken in one of the prereleases and I'm not sure they've been fixed yet. 1 1
ignoramus Posted 18 hours ago Report Posted 18 hours ago It's stable. There are a lot of weird bugs though. Click and drag in crafting doesn't work properly. Worm grunting stick breaks and then plays the sound forever. You can duplicate chests. New quenching system won't let you mix durability/power buffs, and also doesn't seem consistent. Mouflon rams are really weirdly rare. The water wheel stops moving whenever you connect a machine to it, then starts moving again if you break and replace a gear. If you can live with stuff like that, feel free to try rc2. Also, rc3 might be soon and might fix a lot of these issues. 1 1
Calmest_of_lakes Posted 9 hours ago Report Posted 9 hours ago (edited) As fun as the new update is, I would wait for the full release imo. There aren't too many game breaking bugs, but there are a lot of small, annoying ones that add up. The most annoying ones for me are that rust rifts do not render, items in crafting will turn invisible, and other stuff. The closest thing to a game breaking bug I've encountered is that lots of trader outposts are missing the trader. Edited 9 hours ago by Calmest_of_lakes
