I didn't even know the devs or possibly YouTubers play TOPs. I mostly started playing on it because it had more than two people connected at a time, no horrible mods to have to deal with and it wasn't likely to just go offline never to be seen again.

Yep there is a vanilla command to allow partial or full privileges on a claim on a per player or group basis. I've used it for letting my niece do whatever she needed in my claim public server. I also had a tavern/pub that I set to public use only. I just needed to use locks on doors for areas I didn't want people to go Edited March 24 by KahvozeinsFang 3

The best I can think of is just making a setting option for food to not spoil in player inventories while they're offline, so that players could at least reliably have food to eat if they need to log out mid-adventure. Or a setting to stop food stored on a claim from spoiling while the owner(s) are offline; I say "owners", since I'm not sure if claims can be set up to allow access to multiple players or not. There is(or was) a mod that added that kind of function to the player inventory, but mods currently are not an option for official servers. In a cooperative multiplayer setting I don't think food spoilage or resources are as much of an issue, since players are cooperating with each other and sharing resources/labor. But in cases where players are operating independently it seems to be more of an issue. Yes you can set up claim to be use you by multiple, and you can even make it public or traversable, so you can make public cellar ect, the food you use on the server i feel is very different from what use in the solo, on the server i use lot of cheese, cured meat, grain, peanuts ect. So it's range to 3 to 7 years in the tropic. At spawn its even cold enough and on top off mountain is decades. Animals are supper easy to manage, i think crops have been patched but before that it was just super easy to plant your crops and let them for ever until you needed food. Trading to, since there is mob farms design possible at copper age, you can just buy the food like cheese.
LadyWYT Posted March 24 Report Posted March 24 It looks like some extra server utilities have been added in rc5, notably some changes to clear up queues, it seems, as well as a tool to allow servers to kick players who are AFK for too long. Hopefully that helps smooth out the experience for those who play on TOPS/other large servers. 1 2

The ping was horrible. Riding an elk was faster than the server could load terrain. So I had to stop every chunk and wait 30 to 45 seconds for the next chunks to load. Yuck 1
