I want to have list of QoL, Realism mods that doesn't change the game or add extensive different stuff, mostly just realistic stuff.

I enjoy playing mostly homo sapiens so I would like to hear any suggestions and this list could be used to create a list as a community.

(having to search the mod page for hours is exhausting 🥲)

https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/44900 CollapseStory: makes it more immersive when it comes to building, caving and other general stuff. So you can't just build a dirt hut with no support to support to ceiling for instance.

https://mods.vintagestory.at/hydrateordiedrate Hydrate or Diedrate: What is the point of playing a survival game with no hydration mechanic? Not talking about vanilla experience, I mean if you seek realism it makes sense to have hydration.

https://mods.vintagestory.at/primitivesurvival Primitive Survival: probably the best mod you can use for those who want to go for a homo sapiens world

https://mods.vintagestory.at/expandedfoods Expanded Foods: adds many interesting recipes that make the game more fun.

https://mods.vintagestory.at/foodshelves Food Shelves: adds shelves you can store the food in.

For now these are what I'd like (and had time and energy) to share . I hope you got what I mean. Please share mods you like so we can create an extensive list for people that might need it.

I think all 80+ mods in my list pretty much fit into either realism or quality-of-life!

Some of my favourite realism mods:

String technology

  • https://mods.vintagestory.at/stringsense String Sense: I made this to give early string technology more significance and coherence in the game. Bindings are required for many more recipes, but there are also more different sources of early-game cord and rope (and different colours of basket!).
  • https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/34327 Immersive Fibercraft: Goes well with String Sense, makes later string technology more realistically difficult and involved (you can't just turn flax plants into cloth in 5 seconds while you're still standing in the harvested field!).
  • https://mods.vintagestory.at/knitting Knitting: I made this basically as an add-on for Immersive Fibercraft, to fill in a missing immersive step in early cloth production.

Food production and diet

Player stat management

I could list SO many quality-of-life mods, but here are some I find most valuable:

Missing recipes

User interface

Game mechanics

Sticky dirt. Lets you play with block sideways instability without the hillsides sliding off their bones when a rabbit walks past. Gives you wonderful moments when climbing and a clod of earth breaks free from under you and you've got a second to jump to safety or plumet down with it.

Majority of my favourite must have mods are already listed, so I'll add:

Ancient Tools: https://mods.vintagestory.at/ancienttools - fantastic for early gameplay

Art Of Growing: https://mods.vintagestory.at/show/mod/28845 - I don't like the breeding addon so I don't use it, linked to the unofficial version as the OG creator is MIA but unofficial version is being maintained by the person updating it. I can't play without this mod now. This one with Immersive Fibrecraft is just *chefs kiss*

Algernons Watersheds: https://mods.vintagestory.at/algernonswatersheds - While I do wish the rivers it creates were longer for decent waterway travel, but even as is this mod makes the world absolutely stunning and makes navigating without a map a lot easier via landmarks, since you are able to visually see where water is just by the plantlife.
