i thought there werent many ppl playing this game why is every name already taken ive been trying to make an account for ages

Well according to the home page, there's a little over 1000 players online right now. That's a fairly typical number to see. Vintage Story may not be as big as Minecraft or other widely popular games, however, it's worth noting that the game has steadily gained traction over the years.

Not every name is taken, but if you're trying to use a name that's relatively popular, it's not unusual at all to have issues selecting a name for your account, since popular names tend to be claimed rather fast.

VS has apparently had about a million sales-- Anego doesn't publish figures but somebody figured it somehow-- so, we're about to the point where all the common names are taken. Try adding "Nightside" to the middle of your preferred username, see how that goes.

I'm not sure what you mean by "every name is taken". Are you using just generic names? While this game isn't as big as Minecraft, they were still a pretty healthy userbase out there and it's growing.

Right, the game is WAY too big to get away with a vaguely generic name like "Steve"

Honestly, I am relatively lucky that my name wasn't in use and can see how annoying this can be, and especially when you want it to be something unique
