  1. It's crazy sounding, but the easiest thing to do in 1.19 temporal storms is to find a large flat area and fill your inventory with spears and just run around throwing spears at the drifters. They can't catch you and as long as you keep running, even when they spawn on top of you they can't hit you before you are out of range. That is why they added shivers (fast runners) and bowtorns (archers) to stop you from doing the run and gun with no risk. IMO they just went way way overboard.
  2. Yeah the temporal storms are so frustrating until you learn to hide and walk away from the keyboard for 9 minutes. Then they are just pointless time wasters until you learn how to cheese them. The more I think about it, I wish they would make the storms tied to progression. So until you engage with the story content they would just be low level drifters. Lower risk and no rewards really. That would still probably kill most new players but you wouldn't be getting 1 shot by shivers and bowtorns which you have no chance to defend yourself from or escape from as a new player. They would need to add a beginner quest before the archives to start the progression. It could be something as simple as a small ruin to explore that any trader could send you too. You pick up some nick knack there that the trader could tell you, "hey that is something my fellow trader the treasure hunter would like to buy from you" and ta-da you are starting on the story. That could also be how the trader sends you to the TH trader, which they said is a new feature, but I'm sure instead it will cost you 50 gears for the trader to tell you where to find a TH trader.
  3. Correct, you cannot harvest them and get seeds.
  4. Oh, I can insult people. I'm sure I disparaged someone's opinion who was defending the new storms.
  5. Sorry if this sounds insulting, but that's probably because you aren't good at finding metal resources yet. With practice you can find so much of everything it isn't even funny. I know it's hard at first. I remember struggling to find copper and tin on my first couple playthroughs, but it's there... trust me. IF** you watched youtube videos that tell you that you have to find very high readings to mine ore then your life will be miserable. I will go after almost any ore at a reading of poor if it is close to my base. I will follow a prospecting readings to decent if available but I don't make it my mission in the game to find Very High readings. I would never have any ore if I did that.
  6. People can report you all they want but I doubt that means much unless you do something nasty. My feedback for you is that no one is reading what you post after you make 2-3 long replies. At that point you are just background noise in every thread that I scroll past to read what other people are talking about, but then the thread is so derailed that no one is talking about the original topic. Sometimes you have to just say your piece and walk away and sometimes you have to apologize because you get caught up in the moment and insult people. I've been there and done that many times. I so hated the new temporal storms that I'm pretty sure I insulated a few people.
  7. @Omega Haxors I hope they are as well. I really enjoy watching new people go cold into playing the game. It's interesting what they get hung up on and sometimes it reminds me of the struggles I used to have. This is usually why I push back on ideas of making the game harder in the beginning. The way the game is now, is hard enough at the start in my opinion for a new player.
  8. Everyone is allowed their opinion and there is a difference between a fun game that requires some grind and a game that is nothing but grind. A lot of people already consider this game a grind. I think the plan is to add new features that require more of a grind (steam power for example) vs making everything a grind if that makes sense? I say this a lot, but VS does not need to be Wurm. If you love the grind then I suggest you try it. It's an old old game but man is it a grind.
  9. There are the occasional cursed seeds where it's hard to find food, but 19 out of 20 times I have no issues finding plenty of emergency food until I can make a pot and get better food. Fruit trees don't produce fruit year 0, which is sort of annoying. Pumpkin's don't grow wild and Pineapples are in the tropics or sub-tropics, but they do exist. There are crops everywhere.. UNLESS you spawned in a 'desert' or a place it rains all the time. It just takes time to learn how to spot the wild crops. Once you get into the hang of it you will see them everywhere and 2-4 at a time adds up to enough to cook a few meals while you wait for the garden to grow.
  10. Sounds like a person that hasn't been struck by lightning 66 times!
  11. Just make packed dirt, which is just made by placing 6 dirt of any kind in two rows of the crafting grid. 6 regular dirt = 6 packed dirt. It is stable so you can build with it and it never grows grass. It's very useful for marking things as it sticks out visually. So I mark resin on trees with it along with making a map marker. Or when I'm playing wilderness survival with no map I use it to mark everything so I can find resources later.
  12. I'm not trying to poo on you dreams, you have some good ideas, but my response is i don't want to deal with weeds and diseases.
  13. @Shotai I live in a dirt hut and never venture out at night. That keeps me pretty safe. You just have to keep the torches going to stop the spawns in the hut. I just spend night time working on pottery, panning bony soil, cooking and metal working. Food is manageable once you starting cooking in a cooking pot. Eating a big meal pauses the hunger timer, which slows down how much you need to eat. Good luck! You'll get there.
  14. I really strongly disagree. This too will change much like 1.21 is changing the bears in ways that people said would never happen. Having the vast majority of players sitting in hide out rooms every 9ish game days doesn't make sense. There needs to be a way for most players to interact and derive some enjoyment/reward for dealing the storms. It doesn't need to be a loot pinata, but something to make it rewarding. The game requires you to get temporal gears and the spawn mechanics do not really intend for you to be able to hide in storms IMO. They have actively patched out ways to block spawning so it is only a matter of time before they remove the current ones. So I don't believe the long term intent is for you to hide or die in a death loop for the 10 minutes. My experience is out of date and limited to ancient MUD zone creation, but when I made something that everyone hated I modified it over time so people could engage with my content. It was not rewarding to make content everyone hated.
  15. I love new ideas, but I would vote no on this one if I had a vote. I'm not against something to complicate farming a little more but weeds and all of that gets old fast. Wurm has that type of farming and for a short time it is fun, but after awhile it is just a grind.
  16. I mean something more recent and not just stone blocks. The better ruins mod has some half rotten wood villages. More then that though something like the story village except half rotting and deserted.
  17. Scale doesn't use hides. Its chain armor plus scales. Pre 1.21 it is about the best armor you can make and still heal yourself without taking off your armor. If I cant find blackguard armor it is what I typically use.
  18. The world still feels empty to me. I wish they would add some abandoned villages or failed farmsteads to show where modern humans had tried and failed to survive.
  19. If you want to know Vanilla then turn off the mod and load in a new world and look in the handbook. All of the recipes are there. Like Thorfinn said, the Wiki cannot keep up with the changes to the game but the developers do a great job of keeping the handbook up to date. Also as mentioned the mod has changed the handbook so the vanilla recipe is not going to help you anyway.
  20. I'm not 100% sure what you are trying to make. If you are making plate then you need to make chain armor first. I would turn off the mod then go into a new game and just look in the handbook. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Chain_armor
  21. Since you are using a mod, ask on the mod forum. It has changed the handbook view.
  22. I don't think it's likely, but a good PR smear campaign and some simp streamers would do wonders for over coming public opinion.
  23. Sounds like a mod issue. I recently had this issue with primitive survival and rust bound magic.
  24. They could always sue. It's not about right or wrong but who has the most money. Large companies bully smaller ones all the time if they want something.
  25. I thought people played homosapien mode to avoid the night spawn.
