  1. Very true, but when you find that tasty little nugget of surface borax... oh, what a great feeling! I found some in minutes on my first playthrough, and didn't know what it was for. Didn't even mark it.
  2. You certainly can, and if you haven't found any surface bits of borax yet, you will need to eventually just to be able to make an iron anvil.
  3. Again: this thread has spoilers for Chapter 2 of the story!
  4. https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Modding:Getting_Started https://wiki.vintagestory.at/Special:MyLanguage/Modding:Basic_Content_Tutorials You might be pleasantly surprised with how easy it comes to you.
  5. Why not whip up such a mod yourself? You could likely have it spawn as a ruin does, with say a steel falx in a chiseled stone holder.
  6. That's already in the game. Hold ctrl and use the wheel.
  7. Nuclear power. In the 1300s. Personally I don't see how that would really fit in with the theme of VS, but hey, you do you.
  8. Hear, hear!
  9. Or during a temporal storm. Creepy results!
  10. That is the EXACT way I look at dairy sats. Most of the time, unless someone else on the server is dealing with milk animals and cheese making and all? I just get what I get from an ag trader.
  11. Default is "bodyTemperatureResistance": "0". You can also just change it in your serverconfig.json under the specific world, it'll tell you the name of each world in that config, under "SaveFileLocation".
  12. Fire pits are free and easy, and I already make giant amounts of charcoal. For me, it's a non-issue, especially since I'm making calcined flint to make fireclay and using bloomeries is using a portion of it up.
  13. Then, if not using Whole Lotta Tree Seeds, use ladders and shears and attack the heck out of the redwoods. There are no police in VS, so no one will come arrest you for the monumental defoliation. If you aren't up for either of those options, well... it's like Thorfinn said. Wood is wood is wood, as far as everything but ebony and purpleheart go. Those create better crates and give less firewood, but otherwise... wood is wood. The rest is aesthetics. Mind you, I absolutely tend to trek the 20-30,000 blocks south it takes to get ebony and purpleheart going, and on the way there/back I grab tons of redwood seeds. Larch, usually, as well... since there are always mountain ranges to cross between spawn and the tropics.
  14. Changed in 1.20.5: Changelog here.
  15. If not using Better Firepit then option 2 if you have nothing, and I mean nothing else to do. Realistically, option 1. I tend to suggest just pitching a stack of charcoal into a firepit along with a stack of flint, and forget it.
  16. Excellent! Is THAT what's been going on? I've heard from many players on my server that there have been weird, random lag spikes... I bet that is the root cause. I'll update ASAP, fingers crossed no mods break.
  17. It was indeed on discord as the title stated, and I linked both of Tyron's posts inside the quote block. I'm glad you were able to see the warning as well!
  18. I figured this was important enough to post here, too. The more people who are thinking about buying VS and see this warning ahead of time, the better.
  19. Agreed! It especially would encourage cooperation on servers. In the meanwhile, you might enjoy the Stone Bake Oven mod.
  20. Got it, and since I play with temporal stability on as default, I thought the bug was fixed. Thanks for the clarification! I should probably check Discord more.
  21. Again, fingers crossed! I really hope you can figure it out, I know how frustrating the stuttering can be. For me, tinkering in the Nvidia control panel managed to solve the problem for good.
  22. Personally, I would be happiest to see anything past early muzzleloading arms separated into a different mod. They're very far past the existing theme of VS, in my opinion, while what you currently added to what Maltiez added, that all fits right in with the time period and doesn't change the feeling. Early (paper) cartridge arms? Percussion caps? Modern cartridge arms? That's a whole different animal.
  23. Ah, going for the historically correct solution. Kudos.
