Copper casting not working
idiomcritter replied to kleptomanisch's topic in [Legacy] Mods & Mod Development
so I got curious on how long does it takes (playing on TOPS server....) 480 nuggets of copper from firepit input to output took me ruffly 15 minutes real time (in game time, it took a bit over 7hours) that was starting out with 4 peet to preheat, and 11 brown coal to finish. Also, I had it backwards in the wording, crucible with cooled metal is labeled as solidified (when mousing over the crucible), and when reheating, the label dynamically changes to molten (ready to poor). and yeah, the game has the player doing some math gymnastics with how many nuggets to units so that it comes out even per 100 units. and then throw in ratios with mixing metals wee... no automatic here heh btw, I've used the mod AlloyCalculator-v1.0.0, its kinda useful for dialing in whats needed in nuggets for the desired units, and it addresses the ratio's with multiple metals... -
Copper casting not working

when reheating metal that has already been melted once, I watch for the wording solidify, when mousing over the crucible, and grab it, to start pouring into what ever available mold. (ie, I don't wait for the crucible to move over to the firepit output slot) -
Copper casting not working

without mods, I usually smelt/melt down enough copper to fill 24 ingot molds. the 4 crucible slots will have 128, 128, 128, 96 nuggets (480 nuggets / 20 nuggets = 24 ingots) (20nuggets = 100units) (i forget exactly how many brown coals I use to melt the copper, think its around 16, and its a long wait for the process. I'm usually looking to busy myself with other things in the area, like feeding the chickens ) if for some reason, the crucible has a fraction of 100 units, I'll fire up another crucible to complete the faction, if that makes sense? (though it seems to me that the game will allow partial filling a mold, so the crucible can be emptied to reload with more metal) -
the issue i was having was resolved. seems I was using my game nick, instead of the email assigned to the account.

try a different web browser maybe? check that, now i'm not able to log into the client area either. something must be down, or resetting

hey, there are sticks on the ground, isn't that enough deadfall?!? personally I was delighted that I could plant harvested horsetail under water! (water bottoms need help too)

Yes, I joined the Old Glory server. I wasn't happy about how he required discord third party (via a bot) verification. Made a different discord account at the time, since I didn't want to expose my main discord account to something unknown (to me) doing the verification. I also exchanged DM's that that was what I was going to do. I ended up leaving the server after reaching iron age. A few things led to that decision. I wasn't into role play, which left me isolated (which was ok, ease dropping on chat banter was enough inclusion). For reasons, a decision was made to create a second server, that was only for roll play and seemed to split the small community leaving the original server less attended (hence less chatter). It was an interesting experience playing with longer days per month, and 50% Land/Water. Also the group of players active at the time, were friendly and inviting, even though I kinda kept my distance Also, Mr Handy would live stream via discord, and I had a chance to lurk in a few of those. It was confirming to me during the lurk He is an VS enthusiast all n all glad i joined for the short period i did. running a vs server and doing things to keep it active is a tough thing to do. feel like finding the right balance was at issue maybe

6. no brown or black bears (sun bears and pandas won't attack unless provoked)

the leather cycle raw hides -> into limewater barrels soaked hides => placed into crafting grid with knife scraped hides -> into weak tannin barrels prepared hides -> into strong tannin barrels leather

the question prompted me to test... Sure enough, after traveling (tp) to the polar region, with a surface temp of -3, punching a hole straight down to mantel, increase the temp by 11+ degrees. If I was observing correctly, it seemed that for every 10 blocks down, 1 degree increase occurred. And.... placing a glass block 7 blocks above, gained the +5 greenhouse effect! vs science lol

the wiki (and in game help, in briefer form) outlines the fruit tree growth: wiki fruit tree So I decided to base in a warmer region and discovered my cold fruit trees would not blossom. seems it wasn't getting cold enough for the duration it needed. and the warm fruit trees, would die. my solution was to build a platform (integrated with the towering windmill), and plant the cold fruit trees at elevation, gaining enough consecutive cold days below the required temp. the warmer fruit trees needed to be replanted (in my case) on the beach of the lake, it was just low enough to meet the consistent temps needed for the growth cycle. Although in my case, I didn't need to build a pit to lower depths to gain the needed warmth for the warm fruit trees. I've been led to believe that in the very cold climates, an open pit to the sky deep enough, can act much like a greenhouse gaining elevated temps the deeper the pit. haven't tested that yet...

err, discord appears to isolated to the #rules channel only until verified?

+1 on sheering. separating the connecting leaves might allow the leaf decay mechanic to remove the leaf blocks that sit inside the trader protected area

Tin VS Bismuth, what bronze pickaxe do you prefer to use?
idiomcritter replied to Nerdlin Geeksly's topic in Discussion
which ever ore I find first(?) really interested in uncovering iron as soon as possible, hopefully the bronze age is rather quick. Though just now I'm wondering, which tools gain the most value from a trader when selling/trading them for rusty gears.... though I never really find gold and silver in abundance, i do like the way black bronze looks -
interesting, had not considered the actual spawn area size, and then testing the solution i've been using. kind of discovered the ladder trick in one of my play sessions. was mining deep underground when a storm began. I had a straight 1x1 shaft 60+ blocks to the surface. the surface hole was covered to prevent drifters from climbing down the shaft. climbed the ladder mid way up, and waited out the storm with no spawns occurring in the shaft while I waited the storm out. afterwords i set about to discover if no spawns on the shaft ladder was a fluke and came across a bit of information (somewhere here) that spoke about the need for a valid air space to be spawnable (with no obstruction, ie ladders). with your observation on the size of valid area, should be easy enough to test, hopping into creative, create a 2601 glass cube with a ladder lined hole. switch back to survival, and evoke the next storm command a few hundred times..... or not lol (once upon a time in the beginning i had thought trader wagons were safe from the storm, worked too, right up to that time when it didn't. don't hide in trader wagons)

I like the free crates found in the tl rooms and ruins. early game a cheap storage. the usage for me is stones, and dirt (making stone pathways when enough inventory of either/both) and oak logs by the leather curing barrels. also keep several crates by the growing fields to allow quick dumping of grains in inventory while I gather up more of the harvest. ctrl mouse click or shift ctrl mouse click is quick enough (for me) most times to push/pull stacks as needed.

lol ahem. feel your pain... there was this one world newly created where the spawn point was on a mountain peak, cliffs of death on all sides. Also happen to be a valid spawn point for a pack of wolves. each successive death/respawn I was able to take a few steps to fully explore what and where I had actually spawned into. eventually after many deaths, made an escape down one of the cliff sides. fun fun

so the thing is, 1 air space still exists above the bed, which is a valid spawn space during a storm. The trick that has worked for me so far, is to line the wall with a ladder, or do away with the bed, and replace with a ladder from floor to top. usually if not engaging the drifters during a storm (gotta get those double headed drifters for the blue gears), I'll sit/stand in a single space lined with ladders, usually built with glass and watch/wait out the storm...

never used it, windows has sticky notes. a quick test now and the issue for me was how to copy text in the game displayed log (spearing me to retype it into the sticky note) which I'm guessing would be a similar issue maybe if a journal type option was natively available idk don't make use of kindle a whole lot, seems i recall a feature native in kindle that allows taking notes, so something like that native in the game would be nice, though can't imagine the code needed/required to add it (mod?)

I like the idea of making some sort of atmospheric hue/change. A number of times I've been so focused that I miss the text message (until its too late).

interesting detail which is always good (spoken from a packed dirt builder). like what was done with the windmill roof/tower.
