  1. I like the idea of making some sort of atmospheric hue/change. A number of times I've been so focused that I miss the text message (until its too late).
  2. interesting detail which is always good (spoken from a packed dirt builder). like what was done with the windmill roof/tower.
  3. can you pan sand while standing in the water? (i'm guessing yes)
  4. how cool am I? fully dec'd out in my fur clothing, and snow goggles during the mid day sun thru the dog dazes of summer! uh huh thats right, i'm chill
  5. hey, i'd not thought of this til just now, its a cheat, if playing hard mode without a map, to quickly tell where north/south is...
  6. so wait, where in the wood pile, did you actually start the fire? the real test, is to drop down center 6 blocks and start the fire there, then cover. so five blocks above, below, and the sides?
  7. if we're talking about the Helve hammer? then 2 ingots are required.
  8. the numbers to look at, are the numbers shown when looking at the storage vessel. .2 veggies .13 grains .27 othr so its working. in comparison, if the storage vessel was placed outside, the numbers should increase (food spoilage faster) also, food on the player hotbar would reflect a shorter time, then when placed in the storage vessel. (to further compare) so looks good (/debug room hi) <--- room shows green ok, red there is an issue
  9. Hope discord can help, saw the following when googling throttling... I've not used the following, but this seems to address how to know if the gpu is reaching its ideal performance. The vid talks about heading over to notebookcheck website to gain the reference numbers on the graphics card and then use MSI Afterburner to compare actual numbers reached on the laptop, compared the reference numbers belonging to the graphics card vid on checking laptop performance against referenced baseline
  10. what OS is being run? Also, laptops can impose throttling when things get hot, wonder what the demand (heat generated) when running VS "60+ fps on high and very high graphics quality settings, heavily modded"
  11. I'm a bit confused, is it that there is a desire to have a journal entry on a past transaction?
  12. bumping this topic 7 steps currently to make a claim /land claim new /land claim start (at a diagonal of the border) /land claim end (at the other diagonal of the border) /land claim grow down 10 (or however many you need for basement) /land claim grow up 20 (or so for your house) /land claim add /land claim save NAME I mean there is flexibility but if a shorthand form could be had that allowed naming (claim/default user name?) and marking diagonal corners at some default depth/height (that could be edited later). all wrapped up with a single command that added and saved the name. QOL? and/or having a claiming tool that with one tap, would claim a 10x10 square, just so things could be protected real quick in that square?
  13. sorry to hear about the PC crash, never fun, and backups if any are rarely current (my own experience) Ideally the log files point exactly to the issue. And in fact they might be doing just that. To me though, its still alot of confusion, sadly. the recent attempts at trying to get the new map up and running, with default settings, would have been my attempt at reducing the unknown variables and no mods. The ideal is that plain vanilla starts up fine, allowing progressively adding changes until the trouble spot is encountered. Kind of backing in to the issue eventually. sounds like you've tried all that though(?) Something is corrupted, not sure if its hardware issues that could be at fault, ssd/hdd/memory check? Got another machine to try with lol ahem.
  14. thats a shame. And understandable. the thing is, don't think i'd have visited the server if it wasn't open initially. and something about open that be inviting (to a non destructive user/player) idk... don't have an answer on how to keep a server open and limited (whitelisted) at the same time...
  15. ugh, seems downloading some of the txt files become an unreadable jumble (not sure why?)... won't have an answer for you but it might be helpful to others answering the following? are you running any mods? version of windows? (how much memory does the machine have?) version of game? did it work with a prior game version? can you run the game in single player mode ok on the machine? networking wifi (wireless) or wired? installed game with all the defaults? if not, which bits changed from default?
  16. will they become snowhoppers during the winter?? good stuff!!
  17. I need to recheck, seems when I left the door open to what was an enclosed room, the room remained in the enclosed status (with the door open). if this is really true, then leaving the door open removes the need to open/close while passing thru. I mean the passage is still narrow by a door width idk... The other thing IR, houses usually have nothing but rooms with doors, and hallways connecting everything. I like wide open spaces, otoh enclosing sections within the dwelling can look good too?
  18. The botanical family of potato is called Solanaceae, sweet potato is Convolvulaceae, the true yam is called Dioscoreaceae. I'd vote for any of the above only if its a p crop....
  19. installing multiple instances isn't an issue. I believe when using the client the act of signing in checks to see if a current login is active elsewhere, haven't tested...
  20. Early game its about gaining all the resources asap... An open area lends itself in being able to see the wolfs and bears hopefully at a good distance. An area of water where laying down 60x2 block lengths across the water that can then be tilled allowing the soil to stay hydrated, get that farm of flax going. Also maybe setting up a enclosure of protection overlapping the water will help with the need to pan sand for nuggets. And reeds, lots of reeds. Having either blue or red (fire) clay nearby to make the molds and various potteries A sandy/gravel area can sometimes be helpful in spotting surface copper, as well as harvesting boulders for making cobble. Its also helpful to have wild rams and ewe's to eventually corral. Pigs and chickens too. Having a trader nearby that has useable chests can be helpful for early game storage. Forest not too far away for the wood needs, pines for the need of resin, and a chance to find bees. At some point resources won't be the issue. When that time comes, the freedom to build just about anywhere becomes easier. Picking areas with striking contrasts maybe...
  21. interesting find, taking a look.....
  22. fences are magical, bears can't climb over on level ground. What they can do, is reach/paw 2 blocks beyond the fence. building a perimeter fence 2 blocks out from the pen should do it afaik that paw reach caught me by surprise as i stood over a 4 block pit the bear was in, though the bear couldn't climb out, it was able to get a swipe at me wiki: " Behaviors All bears can easily hit animals over 1 block high fence, but they can't jump over fences. Brown bears, black bears and pandas can easily escape of a 3 blocks deep pit. Polar bear and sun bear can only jump 2 blocks [1]. Polar bear can swim faster than other bears [2]. "
  23. I hear you, its a hot mess to pull apart and then add in the player class that can further complicate the effects I do look at the damage log while playing the game to check on what things have caused damage and to what degree
  24. the closest thing I've found is what's in the wiki https://wiki.vintagestory.at/index.php/Armor and the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-A6mKrrxCYrYdg3FKdw_13U9ls46fkl9rAF8Z7PE-0Y/edit?usp=sharing
