  1. I'll do you one better and edit my entire post to despoilerify the whole thing. I just assumed if players were coming here, then they were okay with potential spoilers given the nature of these news posts.
  2. A friend of mine and I were discussing maybe allowing Seraphs to do something with some sort of special magic flowing fluid. It could be used as: Hydraulic Fluid (to actuate doors) Convenient Fuel (to power mechanicals crafted by the clockmaker?) Light source With steam power coming, if we can build complex piping systems, perhaps there is room for seraphs to do something like this with the proper know-how and materials?
  3. I'm not aware of that, but it might be true? I've seen forests return to farmland just by wiping out the trees, but I've never tried to convert a lush area into a desert.
  4. Did you try looking in the configuration settings in-game when you create a new world?
  5. If Tyron is proud of it then it's good enough for me! I've found him to be most reasonable.... as evidenced in my communications with him in this thread. XD
  6. GUYS I DID IT I finally potty trained my blackguard! Instead of going in her pants, she now uses the crucible! Before and after:
  7. You soak them right before using them I like to soak 2 at a time since they heal so much. It's a few extra clicks but if you need that much healing, you're likely going to die if you DON'T take the time to heal up.
  8. LOL ok
  9. *haven't You missed a ' But anyway, I think a lot of people are taking it like you're talking down to us like we're all idiots for enjoying a game you don't like. It costs you nothing not to come here and berate us. As the saying goes, "Don't yuck my yum!"
  10. I'm curious why people don't brew alcohol. Over 20% of the replies here indicate that alcohol brewing is their least utilized game mechanic. I *always* have some aqua vitae around for bandages! And wine for memes!
  11. What is this pineapple? Canadian bacon? All you need is tomato sauce, cheese, and enough pepperoni to give an Olympic runner a heart attack. * *crust optional.
  12. Funny you mention that... I also play hunter with a blackguard fiend (yes I know I misspelled that... she raids my pantry constantly) Hunter and blackguard do synergize well and here's why: Blackguard can take point and do the majority of the damage. Hunter can shoot around the blackguard. Since most enemies will be focusing on the blackguard, they can hunker down, keep the shield up and use the higher health pool to absorb the brunt of the damage while attacking in melee in between the enemy's hits. This where the hunter comes in handy. If the blackguard is doing his/her job, then the hunter can safely stand at a distance and just plink away at the enemies with spears or a bow. The target usually dies *very* quickly. The blackguard can then hand the ammo back to the hunter in exchange for bandages or food. This is how I tamed my blackguard... by tempting her with slices of pizza to do my dirty work for me. Sometimes she'll even drag the carcass of a wild animal back to our home base looking very proud of herself for managing to run down whatever it was and kill it. I butcher it and stuff it in a cookpot for her. I think I've seen her wag her tail. Anyway, play into your strengths and let your friend cover for your weaknesses. The game will make a bit more sense if you do.
  13. this got dark fast...
  14. Sorry... Here... have a slice. It makes things better.
  15. it should always be the first test imo so you're not chasing a bug in a mod somewhere.
  16. I would 100% try without mods first. Never assume the base game is at fault.
  17. Then that would put you in the 3rd category, staring into the face of Dave and daring him to personally visit your front doorstep.
  18. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that if they don't implement rivers, then waterwheels will probably be delayed. But procedural dungeons? I'm intrigued. Possibly fishing? Possibly interested... I have to ask just out of curiosity more than anything... if you're that upset about the state of the game and have lost interest in it, then why do you keep coming back here and being negative? Your comments are really bumming me out, dude.
  19. I think you are close to realizing that the storms are supposed to be terrifying and that the player is actually discouraged from trying to battle it out because of how terrifying they're supposed to be. For some, they are. For others, they're merely an inconvenience. You missed the 3rd category. Mid/Late game, you stare into the face of Dave and dare him to invade your lands, sword and shield in your hands, ready to cut down any drifter, shiver, or bowtorn that would stand in your way.
  20. 1. Yes 2. Yes! 3. Disagree about the wolves, but bears, yes.
  21. this is a fun suggestion and I like it. A nice alternative to the stool if you have wood but no cloth to spare.
  22. Alternatively, the other block game's progression is unrealistically way too fast! You mine ore, you put it in a simple furnace made of stone and get entire ingots made without little else effort. And then crafting is a joke. 3 ingots and two sticks to make an iron pickaxe. No hammer and anvil needed, just the magic power of the crafting grid! Other, similar, instances of instant progression can be found elsewhere and I think we're all probably familiar enough that I don't need to spell it out. My point is that while VS feels slow by comparison, it's because what you're comparing it to is incredibly fast. So, if I am understanding you correctly, you're saying that the world of Vintage Story feels uninhabited, but you haven't started the main story, correct? Honestly, trust me on this, once you start the mission and dive into the story, you'll understand why it feels uninhabited and you may even find some other survivors out there, if you keep your eyes open! To reiterate my previous point, once you start the story (craft a tin-bronze pickaxe and give it to a trader. Ask him about other locations first), the game will start to feel more alive to you and less like a slower, more complicated version of the other block game (TOBG). It really sounds to me like you're experiencing burnout that comes from getting what you want too quickly. I've felt that. You think something is going to take a while, you get it done super fast and start to second guess whether you're doing the right thing. It shouldn't be this easy! Or maybe you're just really good at gaming! Mastering the Propick is something that a lot of players struggle with. But the progression is there for a purpose. Just like TOBG has Wood, Stone, Iron, Diamond, and beyond for tiers of tools and weapons, Stone is needed to mine Iron. Iron is needed to mine Diamonds. Diamond is needed to mine Netherite. That's about it. However, in VS, Tier 1. Stone tools are limited to simple implements for resource gathering. Copper and/or tin must be collected from the surface or panned Tier 2. Copper is your first somewhat durable tier. I consider this the "starter" tier. Copper tools are needed to mine more copper and tin, and to make the first anvil which allows you to make the chisel (which can be turned into a soldering iron). Tin is needed to make bronze (unless you choose to go the black bronze route which is considerably more difficult without the ability to mine crystal veins. Tier 2.5. Bronze tools are top tier for the "starter" set of tools and weapons you can make. More durability and faster speed when collecting resources. The Bronze anvil is needed to unlock iron. Tier 3. Iron is superior to Bronze in every way. This is the lowest of the "good" tier of tools and weapons. Iron is so good that we stopped being able to make spears of the iron quality because they would be too OP. Iron is your friend. Iron is also very easily processed by getting a helve hammer and windmill setup. Your first major flax harvest should provide you with enough flax to make the windmill sails needed to power a helve hammer. You should be nearing your first winter by this time if you are keeping a steady pace. Tier 4. Steel is the best of the best. Steel armor is insanely durable. Steel weapons are sharp and hard to break. Steel tools almost never wear out. Steel is also required to mine Chromite. Chromite is necessary to make the top tier backpacks to finally expand your inventory to the max. Steel also takes a lot of resources to make and process correctly. Maybe it's just me, but the progression seems more than worth the effort it takes to get there. Even if you never touch the story and just play VS as a survival sandbox game, you should still find the progression satisfying, so I'm not sure if you're just rushing through it and getting frustrated by your lack of progress or what is going on here.
  23. bois and gurls I think we solved it. It definitely sounds like OP is hearing wild deer around their place.
  24. I ran out of reactions, but I am reading all your replies and I love the discussion!
  25. @radfast Thanks for the clarification that pausing the normal hunger drain when injured is intended behavior and your explanation as to why.
