  1. I'd add this idea to the list of things that would make for a neat mod, but I don't think should be vanilla. The whole point of the first pickaxe being copper is that you have to work for it, and it feels special when you finally get everything put together and can mine in earnest. That's really the first big moment in the game where you put in a bunch of effort and get a big payoff. Similar to the anvil/saw as well. I've restarted dozens, if not hundreds, of times across thousands of hours, and that first pick and hammer still feels special, even now. I don't think taking away from that experience would improve the game.
  2. Quick question... what the fuck? Even with QP's tools, you're... that's... that's unbelievable.
  3. You've been busy. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing. And welcome to the forums.
  4. @Lupus gets it those images look amazing!
  5. 1000% this. The extra detail on the new logo is better, but the brightness of the color palette doesn't match the feel of the game. I think the perfect logo would have the more muted color palette of the original, but with the outlines and detailing of the new one.
  6. 1000% Iirc, bowl lamps didn't have collision.
  7. I honestly like the idea, as long as each block took less than a second to place. If it were a mod, I'd at least check it out. I do agree that it probably shouldn't be a vanilla feature.
  8. I'm sorry, pal. That really sucks. As you're seeing, we've all been there. I had a really neat seed one time, and was building a cabin in the woods. It was a really nice, scenic situation and I was having a good time. Long story short, I started pottery and burned my house and the forest down. At that point I just deleted the world.
  9. Yeah, I find myself relying on mushrooms and cattail roots a lot more now in early game. Mid to late game, berries seem more reliable than trees, tho. So they may be worth planting. Granted, I play exclusively MP servers that run 24/7, so your milage may vary.
  10. The opening is still pretty standard. Shelter, farming, and pottery. If you see a bear, try to snag his ass and wax the hide. The pelt is useful for a crude bellows. For regular bellows, you'll need leather and nails. You can smith up thru iron without bellows, but it definitely makes it easier to have one. When planning your windmills, you'll probably want each rotor 30 blocks apart. I've heard conflicting distances, so don't quote me on that part, but rotors do need to be spaced out now or they suffer a 50% penalty. Edit: I just realized you're probably not talking about starting a new world. Leaving this anyway in case it helps anyone else.
  11. i think the bushes are downright ugly, and the cuttings take *way* too long to grow. i like some of the ideas involved, but the above two things kinda ruin the berry experience for me.
  12. TLs are pretty key in multiplayer, where folks tend to spread out. A network of known TLs can cut travel distance by orders of magnitude. If traversing a large forever world in single player is important to you, by all means, set them up. Also, if you'd like to explore what's on the other side for funzies, then do it. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.
  13. Holy cow, this is impressive. I wish this could be pinned. You're doing the Lord's Dave's work, son.
  14. Someone DM the Expanded Foods folks. This needs to happen.
  15. Thank Dave we upgraded frikkin' cabiniets instead of spending that development time on literally anything else. It added so much to the game.
  16. At this point, my interest in actually playing TOPS in the forseeable future is pretty close to zero. For giggles, I did queue to see how long it would take. I moved like 21 or 22 slots in 20 minutes. Barring any shenanigans, I'd have been online within a couple hours. For me, that's entirely too much to expect of a player. It seems that 99.99% of the community is okay with something like this, which I *don't* understand at all. I reckon it is what it is. The game is successful. The TOPS wipe hasn't gone well. Both statements can be true.
  17. I'm wasting both of our time arguing on the internet, but for some reason I can't resist. They've already earned the capital. Evidenced by the fact that only 33% of the players who'd like to play TOPS rn are able to play. That's roughly 66% who have paid for the game and would like the TOPS experience and can't. They've got the money. They've got the money for Tyron to spend months on voxel precise shelving and to hire developers for other projects. But they somehow need to wait for more capital to upgrade server hardware to keep up with the growing player base? Get outta here. It's not unreasonable to call a bad launch a bad launch. It blows my mind how there are a handful of people on these forums for whom Anego can do no wrong.
  18. oh, wow... i had no idea. thanks for the info.
  19. lmao, what? the launch has been horrible. queue today has been 140-180ish. if you have 75 people having fun, and at least *twice* that many waiting to have fun, that's not a good launch.
  20. I'm also in need of a partner/admin. The server's been running in some capacity for the last 8 months, so I've got most of the big, technical pieces locked down. Having an active, friendly, reliable person to keep folks engaged would be a game changer. If this piques anyone's interest, please DM me either here or on Discord and we'll chat about it.
  21. This is the problem. The learning curve is higher than you're willing to tolerate, and there's nothing wrong with that. Coming into a forum filled with people who appreciate that learning curve and basically calling their game bad... Well, that's not going to lead to a productive discussion. I'm not even sure why you bothered posting. If the game's not a good fit for you, then that's fine. Request a refund and move on with your life. But you ain't gotta come in here and talk shit.
  22. iron chain is more than enough, in my experience. it's doable with bronze lammelar or chain, though i'd recommend setting spawn nearby if so. and @OP, if you're ever interested in starting a new world, there are settings for lowering the distance to the story locations. Ch 2 is *way* farther than RA. There's no shame in lowering the distance if you don't have hours of time to travel.
  23. We will always be looking for players on our server. @BlueFalcon has set up a neat little RP questline that a small group can do if you want. Gear requirements are fairly low, and it's a neat little quest. Hit him up on our Discord (link below) and I'm sure he'll oblige. Other than that, we have lots of land to develop and build on -- temperate, arctic, equator: take your pick. Check out our webmap to see what's available. A lot of land is explored, but almost all of that land is open for building and progression. We're always looking for more players. I plan to keep the server up to date as new versions of the game roll out, and funding is basically unlimited. This server can run indefinitely. If you wanna check us out, come say hi on Discord.
  24. The person derailing TWO threads with pointless arguments is asking me to stay on topic. That's actually kind of adorable.
