  2. I've documented Clyde and his good for nothing brother Bonnie over in the Humorous Stories thread. Yes, I had two such characters simultaneously. I'll confirm that they do not despawn until the game is saved and reloaded.
  3. I'm not much of a cook and I'm fine with the basics the vanilla game gives me. I've seen what expanded foods mod does and to me it is... daunting. I appreciate the extraordinary work put into that mod so players like you get what you want, but I'd not like it if the base game become dramatically more complex than it is currently. It's getting harder for this old dog to learn new tricks.

  6. Tyron seems to be experimenting with using multiple dimensions to accomplish things, boats and lighting is another. I have a forge/workshop at about 200 elevation and sometimes get some wickedly dense fog up there. Slightly more often the lighting is so bad that it's practically a cave even though the place has plenty of lanterns to light it up.
  7. You'll also be more likely to find other resources, like wild crops, surface ores (most importantly copper, though), in forests bees, etc. Blue clay is more rare than red clay and fire clay will typically only be found under black coal deposits; which means for me, I'll never find it.
  8. Until you want to make iron or steel armor, gambeson is the way to go. Tier 2 protection and the penalties are pretty low. About the only reason I go cave diving is to find translocators to extend my ability to explore further from my home, and maybe find deeper deposits of quartz which have higher likelihood of having silver and gold in my experience.

  16. This is precisely the problem The torch and stairs indicate where the full blocks are and the floor is very much a slab on the bottom half of the block space.
  17. Nope. There's two things that need to be done after the engineering room boiler is fired up. Hint, previously closed doors will open when appropriate tasks are completed.

  19. I will add that you want to place your windmill at least 60 blocks above sea level to maximize the power from the windmill. Also limit the number of axles you use to transfer power from the windmill to the machines since each axle consume 1 point of power and since you want to use only one windmill you need to conserve as much of that power as possible.
  20. I have seen mobs sporadically spawn during daylight hours. Had a shiver spawn behind me less than 10 blocks away during mid day without any rifts near by. Fortunately, these unruly spawns are surface drifters and only one, so they're easily dealt with.
  21. It is just decoration, indicated by the "can be repaired with glue" in the tool tip.
  22. I was gonna say the pic was photoshopped, but homepage is still showing the future copyrwrite date. I'm now convinced Tyron is from the future telling his story through this game. I hope I'm pushing up daisies before the rot comes.
  23. EARLY steam power is the max tech level the devs plan on implementing (see roadmap elsewhere on this very website). No electricity or greater levels of tech development without mods.

Having read me a bit of Lovecraft and noting that once upon a time more than a year ago, this very website called VS "an uncompromising survival game with Lovecraftian themes" Dave seems to me to be an extra-dimensional being or construct totally foreign to this world. It could be that we aren't seing the same entity but there could very well be many "Daves" and temporal storms are something of a rift on a global scale and we see into the other realm and the entity we call Dave is simply one of the many entities from this other realm. This other realm was certainly the inspiration for Jonas, and given his comments in "Confession" I dare say that Jonas may not be the good guy many claim him to be, but I digress which begs me to further digressions. As for Dave? I have serious doubts that Jonas has anything to do with him/them; although, also in Confession he states "But now it is almost time to wake it..." . He may be referring to Dave, but it could be something else he speaks of. Hopefully Dave is not malicious, but it is possible that Dave is the cause of all the rot and current temporal shenanigans of the current state of the world. In Lovecraft the extra-dimensional beings are rarely beneficial, sometimes malicious but usually malignant without intentional malice. I pray that Dave is merely benign.
