Yep, most animals can follow a path and not just walk off a cliff. Except for lemmings

I absolutely appreciate the effort that went into the elk but here are some suggestions. Elks could follow path blocks, or at least align to the closest cardinal when within a couple of degrees to counter the zig-zag. Detect and alert the player to the presence of predators. If not mounted, turning into the direction of the danger with some bugling and hoof stamping. Not blindly run into pits? I'm still not sure what to do about this, but surely they can't be that dumb.-- (a couple of minutes later...)no wait, if I'm dumb enough to aim for black hole of doom it should stop, and if I get thrown... I deserved it. I would love to see elks be more like a companion with a personality an smarts other that a vehicle with a trunk. And related to the controls, it feels like such an artificial constraint not being able to look behind when mounted; And maybe an keyboard toggle for mouse steering ? Edit in relation to mouse steering: No need for any special controls, empty hand, r-button hold.

Funny thing... As I was starting my first game, I quickly went through the options and misread "Temporal Gear Uses"... I interpreted it as: "Hey, some temporal gear, as in equipment, drops during the storms!!" So maybe there's an idea: drop special gear, super powerful, during storms. Some rudimentary ideas: The gear expires after the next storm. So no hoarding, but you can at least have fun with it until the end of the next storm. The gear expires 2 days after taking its first durability hit, or until it's reaches 0 durability (where applicable) Randomly within 1000 blocks of they player there can be an active zone with 10x the drop chance... for the brave! Great! Mine at double the speed, wield a falx with double damage, use a shield with double mitigation, carry a lantern with double the light radius... you get the idea I understand that introducing entirely new gear (armor + weps) would be a lot of work, so an alternative could be to drop something like enchanted gear(* - round thingie), with an affinity, allowing it to be applied to a designate piece of gear. ---- As for the status quo - storms are only useful to me at the moment for sourcing gears, I'm not that keen on mob farms, tbh.

Still broken bears (before 1.20 and after) [deprecated]

Also, just don't fix their inability to climb trees. -
I used to play TUG, loved being able to build with the smaller blocks. So YES, for better no-mc looking terrain.. as for finding clay, there should be another way :). 1 block turning into 8... for all of them, nope, I just love my 100fps and being able to backup my whole world to dropbox in a couple of seconds Just skimming the top generated layer with chisels.. that might work Or fake it as in other games - 7d2d,nms, etc __

Yep, I've posted about having the exact same issue. "Tab" is the new "i" for Inventory Such a pain I know - but as I already have a whole AHK section dedicated to VS I just remapped Tab -> "b". (just swap the "b" for an "i" in your case) It works great, and as I've not encountered any uses for the actual tab key, which would be converted to "b". I'm using AutoHotkey v1.1 still, not sure if it will work in v2. You can use something like this... #IfWinActive ahk_exe Vintagestory.exe ; Swaps ~tab::b !tab::return ; and since I use alt for crouch, disable alt-tab #IfWinActive

Hi Devs, Please consider upping the player angle freedom whilst mounted. I'm not asking for exorcist type freedom, but something between 270-300 would be nice; That way the player *can see what's behind on the side of screen. (*FOV dependent).

I've always had this internal debate about +lives over time. VS in the early game, you must go outside to get food, but in late game you can literally park for years without having to set a foot outside. The request is not complex, and in lieu of other options it's still a good suggestion. I've played permadeath before, and was seriously considering starting my first VS game in that mode. Thank the heavens I didn't

Eventually, I end up drinking a good bit of wine for that fruity flavor before going to bed. When I wake up, it's as if I didn't sleep at all! I don't mind the intoxication mechanic, I can quite easily deal with most tasks even when the screen is all over the place. I do, however, feel that a couple of hours of sleep should negate the intoxication effects.

+ for Step Up, can't live without it. at 1.5 it's a good balance and don't just pop you onto the next block; Have been tempted to install zoom, but in my opinion an item would be more appropriate. (I just commented on the belt suggestion, another item to be added to a belt slot!)
-
Yep, small space for Advance fire started(zippo!) Knife Meds Liquid (Jug?) Spyglass I saw a net to catch butterflies, hook it on the belt! Parchment/Notebook? Writing item - Coal (chalk, etc) Maps

Another VR supporter over here; How often I almost sat on a bed or a block because I was tired!

My 3 weeks suggestion list & big thanks to the devs

Free-look allows you to look around without altering your movement direction. So in practice you'd just hold W and scan left/right for whatever you're looking for... or not looking for .. (+1 BB... -1 BB... again ) In essence, free-looks make all the WASD gymnastics feel unnecessarily ugly. ( And I was .25HP away from surviving the 2nd hit LOL ) And thank you. -
First, om** amazing game, thanks devs!! Modded MC just doesn't feel the same anymore and haven't played in years...used to mod a tonne myself, even played permadeath (modded, ic2, etc) Almost made the mistake of attempting my first play with 20 lives, glad I didn't, hello brown bears! Long story short, Vintage story is precisely what I was after! So just a couple of suggestions -- ( sorry, had a brief look, but dig deep avoiding spoilers; Not watching any major guides and NO let's plays, so I'm still going in pretty blind ) QoL Clear search box on right click. Allow pick block to function outside of creative. Not an issue at the moment, but remember that when building with different blocks, it's rather helpful to middle-click when you want to place another block type that's in your inventory. Option to make the Tab key inventory-friendly. So no inter-window control tabbing, i.e. Tab to open, tab to close inventory. So when opening an inventory for a block(camp fire), tab should still allow the player inventory to be opened. ( I for one have moved all "inventory" activation for all games to "tab" about 2 years ago ) Progression Add a 'Discovered Recipes' tab to the handbook. Unlocking a recipe can be done by 1) picking up an item, or 2) acquiring all the components to craft the item. I know it's not perfect, but better than not knowing you can now craft something that might be useful. Maybe include an option to show all recipes for 1 above. In its current state, the handbook is overwhelming, and I'm sure I'm missing a tonne of progression items that might be very useful along my journey. (low) Allow the handbook search results to be grouped by type. Search for "pan" and group all the "pants", "pane", variations. Option to gain extra life if playing in limited mode after say.. surviving a winter? ( maybe other options to gain a life as well? just don't know the game well enough to comment ) Other Bears.. some warning when a 1500 lb animal is rushing towards me , planning on making me its lunch! Free-Look option (edit) Items despawning on death, in/out of chunk inconsistency as in MC is not very player friendly. I'd rather have items despawn if the chunk is loaded or not. Problem is that you don't know if you're in the chunk or not without using debug tools(I would guess). The game will have to remove the items when the chunk is loaded but I always give a +1 for consistency. ( Using PlayerCorpse atm ) All just suggestions, Vintage Story is amazing and is still keeping me on the edge of my seat and constantly scares the ** out of me! Thanks Devs!
